Well, I give Nintendo a lot of love having grown up with them, but as far as Mario goes I gotta say his RPG kinda games are the best. Thousand-Year Door is one of my favorite games of all time.

Anyone else feel the love for Mario in the 2-D world?

Been so long since playing the original (which I own) that I've forgotten a lot of it. Thousand-year-door was pretty good though. Super Paper Mario suffered from some design flaws but was still fun.

I agree Super could have been better, But I say it's easily the greatest story-telling in any Mario game yet. It goes much, much deeper than Mario fighting monsters to save the Princess.

The story didn't both me that much. It was more the art design (block-figure characters is just lazy). I also feel the 2d to 3d mechanic should have been available to every character instead of just Mario, giving him a more interesting abillity. As much as I wanted to play as one of the other characters, I had to switch back to Mario every 30 seconds for a 2d-to-3d flip.

I really enjoyed all three games, though it took some getting used to with the new battle mechanics in number 3. Though they're awesome, I miss the old school battle on a stage.

The most annoying thing about Super is that I never finished the pit of a 100 trials or the 100 door sumo challenge thingy. I'd get to the last level of the 100 trials and die, and get to 68 of the sumo thing and die.

Annoying...

I feel you there. I beat the Flipside pit of 100 trials, but only got about sixty floors in the flopside pit. There was about ten dark hammer bros., that's just not fair. I haven't gotten very far at all through the Samner challenge though, haven't really gone to it since Chapter Six blew it all up
