What makes the Armada game better than the movie ones?

I couldn't help this, but I just got the Armada game for the PS2 today, and all I can say is I was disapointed. Im only 3 levels in and im bored and fustrated out of my mind! :BANG_HEAD: :BOOM: I mean, the weapons are weak, you can only punch when you're toutching someone, you always have to use instincts to figure out where to go (if it had a map, it'd be easier)the robots are slow, and when you transform, theres never any open area to drive on! I got it because everyone says its better than the movie ones, and I wanted to try it for myself, but so far, it doesnt appeal to me at all. :-( The graphics are great, the story is great, but the gameplay is very lacking for me. Atleast in the movies you get to blow up buildings (TF1) And Multiplayer (ROTF).

You do know that you can equip the minicons you collect to gain better weapons? All you have to do is collect the minicons, enter the space bridge and equip them on the minicon screen.
And when you enter a level, it shows you where to go. And why would you want to punch when there's no enemy to punch?

Im sorry, I am pissed, Im really frekn pissed off at this game. Never has a video game ever pissed me off this much :BOOM: . I really tried to like it, I tried to think of it as a good game, but so far, it has earned the title of one of the worst games I have ever played in my life. The difficulty in this game is the worst I've ever seen. Im playing on easy and cant get past the 4th level. I cant get past the weakest enemies in the frekn game. I was screeming at the game litterally screeming trying to figure out how to steer the jetpack (once I stoped screaming I finally figured it out though 8-})But this game is just too hard for me. Ive had self esteem problems before, but now Im at the verge of snapping  . Im taking this game back and investing the $10 I payed for it in Animated Arcee, like I entended before I walked into the game store. :BANG_HEAD:

I wasn't that impressed with it either. Although Tidal Wave and Unicron were cool, the rest of the game seemed lacking. Transforming was useles, like you said there's never a place with enough space or level ground to make it beneficial. Optimus is the only character that's any good. You'll need the extra minicon points far more that you'll need Hot Shot's speed or Red Alert's... averageness. I think the RotF game is the best transformers game to date.

The only one I ever do play as is Optimus, the rest are useless. And I tried using cheats, but the game is still a pain to try and figure out. Granted with cheats, I like it better than the forst movie's STORY MODE. I still enjoy senselessly blowing up buildings in that game. Which makes it more enjoyable than the Armada game as a whole. And ROTF has multiplayer, and a quick, to the point story mode. Even though its a little TOO easy, the multiplayer more than makes up for it.

Well what do you expect.... you're going back in time in terms of video game development and console. If you don't like Armada, I doubt you'd like the video game.

Hot Shot + Health Regen + Sniper Rifle is how you beat Tidal Wave.

Run Run Run, Heal Heal Heal, Snipe Snipe Snipe.

Easy.

Hot Shot is also the way to take down Cyclonus. Red Alert was better than Prime early on in the game.

By the end, you need Prime, but that's kind of the point isn't it?

Personally, I just enjoyed the Armada game more than either of the movie ones. It wasn't just basically walking through the movies or playing minor events immediately prior to or after movie events. It was certainly not a perfect game and parts of it were frustrating, but to me it was just more enjoyable. Both games suffer from overabundance of drones instead of actual characters though, and that's a big let down in both sets of games for me. I realize it's kind of the way these games would have to be done, but I think the drone biusness is lame.

They really don't have an option. It's either a bunch of identical nameless drones, or have to make an infinite number of characters.

I, for one, still don't know why they don't just bring back the Vehicons. It's a perfectly viable drone race controlled by a single sentient TF. They have "video game enemies" written all over them!

Yeah, it takes a bit of effort to get through those few levels. But after that, and after collecting quite a few minicons, it started to get to be alot of fun for me. I think the whole "hunting for minicons and then equipping them to see how awesome i became" thing really made the game interesting for me and made me want to keep playing through it. I also enjoyed the Starscream battle too.

Think i'm gonna to get ROTF this weekend in feverent anticipation for WFC. lol

Yeah, I know. I think you're Vehicon idea fits best though. I know that they were just drones also, but they do seem much more legitemate than 'heavy Decepticon clone warriors' or whatever all the existant games have basically called them so far. I'd be much more accepting of Vehicons than other random drones, maybe becuase to me at least, it makes more sense than just random drones. Or maybe because they were first and therefor by default are more original than the stupid movie game drones, or the very visually upsetting Armada game drones.

I had this game for years, but only actually played it for the first time last weekend. I'll agree that it is very hard. I played on easy mode and still found more than a couple of bits frustrating. Worse was the increased difficulty when going back to a level to get more Mini-cons. Those flying drones in particular were a real pain.

As for the Armada series, I was never a fan of the show, but the toys were good, and I'm a little sad I never got the Red Alert one, seeing as he's quite cool in this game. Granted, you do have to use Optimus in most of the later sections, but that does make sense. I was mostly in robot mode, vehicle mode was usually for running away, or very occasionally for smashing some enemies. Hot Shot was too fast for the terrain really, something like a city, or flat desert, level might have been good for him. Red Alert's alt mode was nice enough though.

I think this was a "prelude to Energon" and in that sense it does work quite well. I mean, Optimus Prime is getting really fat in it. He can't jump properly and his vehicle mode struggles to go up some hills. Honestly though, aside from the high difficulty, I quite enjoyed it. Haven't played the "movie" games so can't comment on them. Bring on War for Cybertron!

It was, and the end product had literally nothing to do with Energon.

I haven't played the RotF game, but the first was was okay. Not great, it really could have used some polishing, but it really had the makings of a good game. It helped that it was really similar to Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, but unnecessary time limits and restrictions on how far you could move during a mission really, really hurt. Being able to select characters would have been nice as well.

I've heard the RotF game is supposed to be much better.

Yes, the ROTF game is WAY better. The multiplayer is what sets it so much further apart.

Granted I've only played ROTF on the PS2 (I'm so old fashioned....) but I preferred the first movie game. The ROTF game multiplayer feels unwieldly and dull, like grey gym socks dull, and the missions are just one end of the map to the other walks with some stops in between to punch generic drones, with the exception of the level that's the Decepticon base or the Nemesis or whatever it's supposed to be. The first movie game was more or less the same thing as the ROTF game, at least for PS2, but for whatever reason I just find the ROTF game dull. I've heard it's better on the 360 or PS3 or whatever, but I havent played them on those systems, and honestly, probably won't.

It was done by a Australian production company?
