Why dose my xbox keep over heating? I have an older xbox. probably one of the first and it over heats allot. Its never gotten the ring of death. It freezes after a while and the side is burning hot. i even have a cooling stand and a fan that clips on the back. It really only freezes when i play MW2. Its not the game tho because i just bought a new one and it still dose it.

If you have it in a tv stand or entertainment center, take it out of there and keep it in a well ventelated area. I've had a few marathon sessions where it has been left on for over 36 hours and it was barely warm to the touch.
Back when the system first came out, the display models at Best Buys around the country would constantly fail because they kept them in those plastic bubble things. Enclosed spaces are the enemy here.

My 360 just got the RRoD. I keep it in the middle of my coffee table so it has plenty of space to ventilate. It's just a poorly made system, I don't think there's anything you can do to avoid it overheating without opening it and tinkering with it's innards.
