Finally bought a PS3

This past weekend, I finally committed to purchasing a PS3. I remember seeing them in stock a few weeks ago and figured it wouldn't be a problem.

Not the case.

I went to multiple stores and none of them had them. The worst situation was a Walmart recommending me to another Walmart 11 miles away claiming that there were 20 PS3s on the database at their store. When I got there... zip. I suppose the smarter thing would've been to call the store. Ugh.

After that giant mess, I hopped on Amazon and ordered it with no problems. I bought GTA4 because I know that'll hold me over but I'm sure I won't have enough time to game this month. But my Amazon cart of games is growing!

I've tried the Netflix streaming feature... I'm liking it! My computer is no longer powerful enough to stream from Netflix so it's nice to take advantage of it on PS3.

Plus I'm just loving GTA4.

You are in luck as there are alot of freakin awesome games that came out and are cheap to find, and new ones coming in the next few months. Some ones I would recommend, KillZone2, Uncharted 1 & 2, God of War series, Little Big Planet, Heavy Rain. ModNation Racers is coming out next month, and whenever GT5 comes out, it will blow people's minds away.

You can catch me on some nights just running around Liberty City.

If you played the previous Metal Gear Solid games, then you're finally capable of experiencing Metal Gear Solid 4. If you haven't played the three Solid games, don't touch MGS4, as your head will explode from confusion.

Yep, the sole reason I bought PS3 is because I've been a long time Metal Gear Solid fan and recently finished the first two God of War games.

The 3rd does not disappoint. It's rage-tastic.
Wasn't Metal Gear4 also released on XBox? :???:

No. For a while there was a rumor that MGS4 would be released on the 360, but it turned out to be a release on the iPhone. So far, the only Metal Gear game to be released on Xbox was MGS2, and that was the original Xbox.

You know, my wife and I have been toying with the idea of getting a PS3 at the end of the summer - and we had the same issue when we went to scout out the local stores: nothing. All of the brick 'n' mortar stores have bare PS3 shelves. Same thing when a friend when to buy his about a month ago. Anyone know why?

I think the shortage was due to multiple factors. The introduction of the slim models and price cut, better games coming out, bundles at the large chain stores, and of course the increased ad campaigns. Another reason is the blu-ray capabilities.

You should be able to find slims by now.

The slims have been out for a while now. The problem was that Sony put in a different RSX chip. I think it was for reducing the heating. I skimmed over the details on a gaming forum. The newer models are starting to come out to stores. You won't notice a difference, just the product model numbers will be different.

On the other hand, I've seen the 250 gig systems all over the place. For 50 bucks more you double your HDD.
