Instruction booklets....

Hey gang I just heard Ubisoft is going to stop including instruction booklets with their games entirely. It's supposed to save paper, and I'm sure it will. But...

Ok, I will admit instruction books have been going downhill over the years. Black and white only, little if any information(seriously, Modern Warfare 2 doesn't even mention intel items, and that's an achievement), but I still have a nastalgia for them.

It's just nice to have character/enemy bios, controls, and backstory in one place right beside you ready for quick access instead of having to search around online for it.

So what do you all think?

I think it's a good idea, they can put all that information in the game.

For me, it depends on the game. Some games deserve a lengthy instruction manual that also gives story and insight into the game. Or, a novel sized manual to go with an in depth simulation.

But, honestly, some games today don't deserve the disc they are written on, let alone a book to tell you how to hate yourself for buying it.

I actually do read the instruction manuals. Usually to get a head-start on the controls and gameplay rules. At the very least, it gives me something to do while waiting for the game to install. The manuals have been pretty half-assed lately and pointless to read since they pretty much amount to "thank you for purchasing <game name>. This is a controller. Now go play". :BANG_HEAD:
