On the last day of BotCon 2012 the Activision Transformers: Fall of Cybertron and JAGEX Transformers: Universe MMO panels were held. Unfortunately the battery in the camera I was using died before the JAGEX panel, but I managed to get a few images from the Activision panel. There wasn't a lot of new information revealed, but here's a quick run down.

The Activision panel, which consisted of Aaron Archer, Matt Tieger, and a few other Activision employees, actually started off with a brief presentation of the Transformers: Prime game they are developing for the Nintendo platforms.

  • They're hoping for a holiday release date
  • Brawler style game play
  • All the voice actors from the show are on board
  • Based largely on the events of seasons one and some of two
  • A trailer of cut scenes was show, but no actual game play

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

  • They feel it surpasses it's predecessor in everyway
  • 18 upgradeable weapons
  • Cliffjumper(voiced by Nolan North) and Jazz have "buddy" vibe, they wanted to explore Cliffjumper's history due to his role in Transformers Prime
  • They feel they nailed Grimlock's appearance (Matt really, really likes Grimlock!)
  • Looked to the comics to establish the connection between the Dinobots and Shockwave
  • The Generations Fall of Cybertron toys have been a joint collaboration between HMS and Hasbro with the figures designed in-step with the game models
  • Multiplayer Customization - Unprecedented ability to craft your own Trasformer
  • Head, torso, upper/lower arms and legs, wings, etc are all customizable
  • Transformation will look natural no matter what design you choose
  • Still no plans for a PC version

Transformers: Universe MMO

Panel consist of Aaron Archer, Eddy Dew, Steve Huckle, and Kerry Vero.

  • Free to play on any browser with Java, should look and play like a console game
  • Based in the Transformers Prime continuity, but independent of the show
  • Third person POV, with some camera adjustment
  • There will be multiple character classes to revealed later with 5 classes available at the launch
  • Probably no class changing, though you can create multiple characters of varying classes
  • Trailer was shown, but did not feature game play
  • No beast modes or flight modes will be available for the launch, though they hope to add flight modes soon
  • Character appearance will change with modes and upgrades
  • Possible Beta version by the end of the year
  • Humans are in the game, but only as part of the environment

My only beef with this is how they said they work so closely with HMS to nail he toy design yet 4 of the 5 combaticons look brutal and the gestalt looks nothing like it's in came model save for maybe Vortex & Onslaught if you ignore he spindly connectors. Lets see what they do with a Voyager Grimlock...

I kinda wish we get a toy of the transforming AI. It's a different spin on transforming and fit for army-building.

Couldn't agree more. I can only assume "closely" means Hasbro popped in for five minutes after HMS had finished the in-game models, took a look at them all and then went back to the designers and described the models.

Just out of interest, which of the Combaticons do you think is OK? If I'm honest I think they all suck.

An interesting side not was Greg Berger will be the voice of Grimlock and Metroplex is WAY bigger and more G1 looking than I would have ever hoped for!

Brawl and Vortex look the best out of all of them. Even though I want the boxset I KNOW Takara will put out 5 amazing looking Combaticons that blow the SDCC set outta the water.
