I would really like to buy an old soundwave that nobody plays with anymore. I would appreciate if it had semi-tight joints and thee deck opens (its ok if the button doesnt work). Please contact me if you have this toy out of box is fine and without tech specs and instructions is fine too. I can trade an optimus prime in c8-9 condition that doesnt include the trailer just the sub/train/helicopter/drill which attach to his arms and legs. He is a superlink I believe.

If you have $50, you can purchase a brand new, MISB Encore Soundwave.

It would probably be a better option than attempting to trade for a damaged one.

thats the thing, i want a g1 soundwave not a reissue, but i may want a TRU soundwave since its a reissue, but is molded a little differently. What is all your views about it? Is the plastic strong? Are the joints tighter than a G1?

You have nothing to worry about buying any of the TRU reissues. All are the same, if not better, quality than when they were first issued 20+ years ago. Same diecast in same places. Plastic is fine, also.

The only issues are the lack of chrome or oversized plastic for many of the Hasbro TRU reissue weapons. Soundwave (and Hoist) do not have this issue. I don't own this particular Soundwave releasee, but I imagine Hasbro removed the springs in the laser weapon (like they did on others; Inferno/Grapple/Hoist/Smokescreen/etc).

I have the Takara soundwave & soundblaster version, so that's one difference between the Hasbro/Takara releases. Springs.

More differences with this Soundwave are it's actually Soundblaster. The cassette compartment can hold 2 cassettes. The "simulated" tape buttons are molded differently than the 1984 original, also. I imagine this was done because the mold needed repair.

If you must have a Soundwave that is most true to the original than you have to buy a Takara version.

An alternative to buying the TRU version, is you can by the Encore version. You only get Laserbeak, though, but the cassette compartment is the same as the original. The buttons will still be different, though, than the original.

The Dreamwave version is also a choice, but it's price is out of this world.

So, you can have the TRU Soundblaster colored like Soundwave, or you can have the Takara version that is more like the G1 version.

Both are great, though, so you really can't lose. Buying both, is also a choice

Before you shell out any money for a TRU Soundwave, just know that both cassettes are highly deformed. Ravage's bottom half doesn't line up at all and Lazerbeak has more problems than you could possibly imagine. Lazerbeak is not at all passable even from a distance. I have trouble fitting it in Soundwave's chest. KNOW THIS. After I opened mine, I vowed never to let someone be ripped off by it again.

Just be aware that the TRU Reissue is not the same toy as the G1. It is a Soundblaster repaint with deformed tapes. If you want a true G1 reissue get the Encore Soundwave.

I didn't know the tapes were such an issue with the TRU version. Glad I stuck with the Dreamwave & Encore reissues.
