Hey....I'm primarily a GI Joe nerd, but since we seem to run in similar packs as TF fans, I hope you guys don't mind if I pump up an eBay auction I'm running for Transformers #66 (Marvel Comics series, 1990). One of the semi-rare later Transformers issues. These usually run with a high price tag, but I like to let demand set the price of my auctions, as it's starts at 99 cents.

Take a look!:

Condition would be NM, except there's a very slight angled print job on the cover.

No offense, but I wouldn't exactly call that a rare issue. Hard to find? Maybe. The rare issues are 70-80. However, I wish you the best of luck. I can't imagine that auction going for more than $15.

It was only "semi-rare".. with a little pink in the middle. I just don't see them selling for cheap very often, so I went with "rare" to help with eBay hits. It's like writing personal ad, you don't write "boring, lame-butt who works at Subway", you write something like: "ambitious, creative-minded guy with a budding career".

You're right, it went for well less than 15 bucks. Only 99 cents. I watched a few of those higher-priced auctions of the same item for a week or two before listing this...and exactly ZERO of those sold. I'm glad I was able to give someone a good deal, though. I'm sure there's some Transformers forum that will have some guy typing: "Look whut I bot on eBay!!!" (sic).

When everyone starts using the word, rare, it loses its luster. That's why I don't even bother including such a word in any of my listings. That isn't going to help your item that much. That space could have been used for another term. You want people to find your auction when using the search feature. A word like rare is not going to help.

Your auction is futher proof that eBay is not the place to sell unless you have an incredibly rare item. I only use the BIN/Best Offer feature now. It's too risky using the auction side of eBay. After shipping and materials, I can't imagine you made anything off of that comic. That's a pity too. That comic is worth more than $0.99. Part of the proble, though, is the comic market in general. Very down market. So I'm sure that played a role.
