A friend of mine recently passed, and before he went, i asked him what he wanted me to do with all the stuff he left in his office. He replied "Get rid of it".
So, i was doing just that when i saw a big box that was wrapped in plastic.
I opened it, it was empty, and just as I was tossing it, a paper fell from it from an ebay auction showing where he spent money to buy an empty box.

i was a little suprised, so I typed in "Transformers headmasters forum" in google, and was directed here.

The box is a Japanese version of a battle fortress (autobot)in amazingly good condition. one corner has a crease, and that is small unless you are really looking, would never see it.

So, I think this meant enough to him to buy empty (for some reason...) and if it is something that should not be trashed, let me know.
there is the styrofoam packing inside (great condition too...) but no fortress.

Keep it? Junk it? Sell it? If so, is it worth anything?

Ok, here goes:

Yeah, you're going to want to sell that. That right there is a box for Fortress Maximus, one of the most sort after and biggest TF's out there. Many collectors will be wanting to pick up a box for him, more so if it has the styrofoam in it.

You DO NOT want to be throwing that away, as Amelie previously said it's worth GOOD money.

Actually not to nerd out but that is the box for GRAND MAXIMUS. I believe he is even rared then Fort Max and that one looks to be in very good condition.

If you happen to find the toy that goes inside, I got a fresh 20$ with your name on it... j/k of course, it's worth much more than that

Yeah, that's even better than Fort Max, that's a Japanese Grand Maximus. Whatevere he paid for it, you should be able to get the same amount or more on Ebay. Definitely sell it. Or, better yet, check with his family to see if there was a Grand max belonging in the box. You said he bought the box, he must have bought it for a reason.

I'm interested in buying.

I don't have the figure, but it would be good to have that for the day I finally get my hands on one.

Problem is I have no idea what the box is worth.

If he had a large collection I'd strongly reccommend his family find a local collector to identify and value everything. If they are going to sell on ebay they'd make a lot more money that way.

I'd contact his family first. If he has a loose Grand Max it'll fetch more boxed.

I don't have the heart. I know everything in his garage was thrown away when they cleaned it out. In fact, if he did not put in his will that his warhammer figs were to go to some friends, they would have gone too!

Thrown away? A decent collection could cover the cost of a feuneral several times over [not to be insensitive].

I'm going to hope that his familt had the sense to check the prices on a bunch of plastic Transformers lying around the house.

Seriously. The box you are holding belongs to a $2600 figure when it's complete. If he's got the box then he wasn't just ny sort of casual collector. He's got to have a showroom of some sort.

I'm only bringing this up because my family has a rough idea of the value of my collection and already know who to contact in the event something happens to me so they can price everything out properly.

If the figure has already gone, which unfortunately sounds like a strong possibility given the circumstances, then the best you can do is sell the box, and get as much money as you can for his family.

Anything I want to say right now will get me banned.
