Try to find one at retail price though.

Any idea why there's a difference in the packaging? You can see the figures don't sit in the exact same spots...

I think I recall people saying they didn't like the Hot Rod Patrol, but was due to design critiques, not QC. As far as I know, all the other sets there were fine.

The top picture looks like a pre-release render, whereas the bottom one looks like an actual photo of that pair in-package.

Huh, that makes perfect sense - the whole pre-release render observation... Thanks! Still, seems kinda sketchy... Even lists the brand as "transcraft"...

I actually went through all the Amazon reviews for Micromaster and found the following that did not have reviews that did not state that the legs fall off:

Race track https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07ZQXW61D/ ... QW7GKNZG34

Military Patrol

So... SS86 Hot Rod or Kingdom Rodimus Prime?

That is a VERY subjective question that is dependent on what exactly you want in a representation of the character and how much you think that representation is worth. For some users, the correct answer has been both.

Disregarding representation, which is the superior figure from a molding, playability, possibility, etc point of view?

SS86 Hot Rod is nearly flawless and is even considered superior than the latest Masterpiece. That say a lot.

Commander Rodimus Prime is divisive because of size, price, and a design flaw in the trailer.

If you want the best bang for your bucks, SS86 all the way.

There's only one. Kingdom leader.

Unless you're the kind to love watching the world burn and go for the old Classic Generations Deluxe instead!

Slim-to-none, SS86 exists only as a supplement to the WFC/main Generations releases, not a replacement.

Studio series 86 Starscream looks an awful lot like earthrise Starscream though...

Coronation Screamer is a retool of the ER mold, yes, but ER Screamer hasn't been on retail shelves in about a year as of currently and Coronation Screamer still doesn't even come out until next year. After that long of a time period, there would be reason to believe that there would be people who didn't get the ER Screamer and would want a new release (heck, there already ARE people like that), and people who care enough about the movie accuracy & that particular scene to buy both and/or buy the new one and resell the ER one. Those two groups of people combined with parents & kids would be enough to secure profits from that release.

In comparison, if they revealed a "more-accurate" SS86 Galvatron right now, and we assume it would somehow be different from Kingdom Galvatron despite the fact that the "new" Screamer is the exact same figure they released before but with extra accessories and different hands, how many Kingdom Galvatrons would go unsold because people waited for the new "better" one?

Also, there are still people who argue that Coronation Screamer is a waste of a slot anyway (me included), so making that the new norm would rub a lot of people the wrong way.

Earthrise can still be bought at $45 on Amazon. Crying shame there's such a disconnect between toy and show releases...

What you said makes sense. I don't mind "version 2.0" figures. Heck, picked up unite warriors Devastator over combiner wars version for reason. ;-)

You heard about HASLAB Victory Saber?
You may have no interests in the Japanese G1 continuity but backing this EPIC thing may be well worth it:

I backed this "Transformers I would like but Hasbro/Takara would never make" with the power of a thousand suns!

Yea... I am not familiar with the character... Looks neat though... If they did a second run of Unicron I'd back that up in a heartbeat, but I'm not holding my breath :-(

Maybe you should back this Victory Saber while you still can. It's the price of a titan so it's pretty reasonable. Pass the delay, it will be too late to have any regrets.

BTW, I never watched nor cared watching Transformers Victory. But if the bots are cool and awesome, I don't need any stories to justify a purchase.

That's a $15 markup that people aren't as likely to spend now knowing that for just $5 more they can get the SS version with coronation gear and throne. It makes crossing lines after over a year a lot easier. There's also a big difference between slightly upgrading a figure and including a bunch of accessories and completely remaking a character for another line. We're more likely to get a SS86 Optimus Prime than Galvatron.

The War For Cybertron Optimus was pretty perfect from what I've heard . . .

Would love a SS86 Megatron though! [sigh, probably will never happen because gun :-(]

What we need a mass produced Ratchet . . . that Walgren's Exclusive one was so elusive! :-(

Also, where's Blaster?

Yea . . . I appreciate the responses/advice, but I'm just not feeling Star Saber. Especially when I'm considering several other characters that I have more of an attachment to atm [hot rod, galvatron, jetfire, sky lynx, etc]. Hopefully, Haslab pumps out more Unicrons so I can throw my money at them at a future go-around. Already pre-ordered the new Starscream too . .

Earthrise Optimus is good, but could have been a little better (the trailer really suffered).

Probably the closest to a SS86 Megatron we'll get is either the Siege or ER retail versions. I'd like to see them do either mold in the metallic silver used for the Netflix versions, but without the battle damage.

You aren't wrong about Ratchet, I had to get help from another board member to get my Siege Ratchet.

Blaster was found in store computers for later this year, though there's been some debate from leakers as to whether he's Kingdom wave 4 or 5.

One thing you should be aware of.
HASLAB things will NEVER EVER have any reissues whatsoever. That's a one shot deal exclusive to backers. That's it, that's all. Once the backing time is over, it's over. Then if the backing is a success but you didn't backed anything, you'll have to pay a severe mark-up from a reseller.

You can get HASLAB Unicron right now... for around 2000$ instead of the initial 600$. If you truly want it, you'll have to pay that price.

Or, you know, get something smaller but WAY better looking despite the complicated transformation if you don't mind going third party. It's also available at normal retail despite the still hefty price tag.

I was eyeballing that 3rd party unicron, but that transformation (amazing . . . ly complex) plus him not even being titan size... I think I'll stick with my Takara 2010 unicron even though he's pretty tiny. :-\

Yea... I'm pretty sore about letting Haslab Unicron pass me by, and the severe markup is "bad comedy". Haslab really needs "encore" backings IMHO...

The price of that 3P "Unicron is still half a grand in Canadian dollars. I love Unicron but not THAT much. Plus like you, the fact that I have the Armada original and the "Amazon" remake (plus the best stand for planet mode) satisfy me aplenty.

Plus, let's be honest. It's completely pointless to have a "huge" Unicron because he will never be truly in scale with Generations figures. That is unless a government want to back and create the 8th Wonder of the World that would cost billions.
