As usual with most Japanese exclusives.

But for this here Canadian, my only real option is to pre-order from Amazon.jp if it appears over there.

Pulse charge a premium and their shipping costs are ludicrous.

Why would they? It's the exact same toy but without the extra bits. Plus, Siege Shockwave is basically worthless because it was over-produced.

AAaaaaannnnnnnnndddddd eBay proves me wrong.

I'm actually counting on Megatron from this set being dumped on eBay! :)) :VEHI:

I agree so much on the need for forearm covers. That, plus no wrist-swivels on a lot of figures, and budget be damned, the extra nickel or even dime it would cost them is not an excuse. The bean counters have gotten out of hand with the hollowness, lack of paint and lack of articulation. Most of these figures could be near perfect with those things. I would bet the designers are frustrated as well. Now the clear plastic on joints or even windows needs to go too, and that may be on the designers. It doesnt look good to see a bunch of kibble crammed in there through the windows. Maybe I am in the minority, but I do not like the clear windows.

That sounds like some suck ass crap to deal with. I've never ordered from Pulse, is the shipping pretty fair here in the states? :VEHI:

Yes. It's only Canadian shipping that costs extra when ordering from Pulse.

Only going on anecdotal evidence from here and a few other places, it seems like :HASBRO: is leaving money on the table. Surely they would make more working out, at least, a discount for Pulse collectors club or whatever its called.

Taking that money and putting it in my pockets to say that only Americans living in continental America can be a Pulse Club member.

Initially I liked them because, well real windows are clear, not to mention the fact the OG toys had them as well. But I do agree it's a bit of an ugly view inside when all you see are hunks of plastic, so I have come around to the shaded windows more and more. It'd be different if what you saw inside were actually a vehicle's interior but that not likely to happen unless we want to add an extra $5 to the price in addition to body thickness.

I finally decided to get Skyquake and Dreadwing.

While my wallet was crying tears of blood, I played with them a bit. The ship does not hold itself very solidly. Just a bit of a shake and it's "breaking up". At least the ships look good and feel dense in hand.

Image

The transformation was easy enough to figure out, but the nosecone connecting onto the waist is not very solid. The overall bots looks very nice at least.

Image

I'll be looking forward a possible Machine Wars Starscream repaint. Or why not a Dai Atlas?

Still, anyone who own these gotta admit. 15 years ago, those two would have been sold as Ultra Class at the very most.

If the colors stay like that through to production then it's more of a toy accurate figure than the Siege version. I think the new one is a much better looking figure. It is weird that they're selling this as a cartoon set, but going for toy colors on all 3.

When I said "exact same", I mostly meant mold-wise. It was obvious that the deco would be somewhat different.

For this here Canadian, this Screamers-n-Wasp set will be a 140$CAN purchase. If it weren't for the shipping that cost a whopping 40$CAN, I would have bitten, but I won't for simple repaints of these.

I'm still not ruling out that set tho.
I'll wait for what other options will be available.

1. As stated, Kanra was talking about mold.
2. Uh, Emerje?

In the case of Shockwave the shades of purple used, and especially the gray gunbarrel, are in fact closer to the cartoon than the SIEGE release was.

With Megatron... While the toy's silver chrome was usually approximated as flat gray due to the cartoon's cheap coloring, the cartoon did shade him as shiny now and again. And let's face it, the flat gray looks dull and ugly in toy form.

As for Soundwave, how exactly did you get it in your head that he was toy deco? :???:

Some aspects are definitely toy-informed, but overall they are in line with the cartoon.

When I was talking about toy colors I wasn't looking at any one specific thing. For Shockwave it was the purple, the lighter Siege colors are closer to the cartoon than the darker "Capture" colors that look more toy accurate. For Megatron it really comes down the shininess, at best cartoon Megatron looked like a well polished gray, not the chrome appearance of the original and new figures. And for Soundwave, yes, the purple isn't toy accurate, but the use of metallic gold and silver instead yellow and gray like the cartoon feels specifically toy based.

Granted, animation limitations and all that, but I see what I see.

Marvel Soundwave was a pinkish purple.

Dramatic Capture Soundwave is dark blue.

So close... Maybe one day.

How about as the next Walmart Exclusive line? A line dedicated with Marvel Comics in their G1 printed comic books appearance? With these printed dots texture shading and everything?
That would be cool.
