it was, thank you. If only the SS version was all red like the DoTM version, it would have been perfect. That's way too much black.

I was obviously a matter of paint budget. SS Sentinel have LOT of paint. Still, I do wonder if it would have been better to cast the whole thing in red plastics and paint key areas in brown/black? I think it would not only have been feasible but it would have been indeed better.

They did that with the DOTM leader if I remember correctly, he was mainly red plastic for the body area.

Red paint on black vs. Black paint on red. Which have looked better in the long run, especially considering paint scratching off?

Thanks for the comparison, Kanrabat! I regretted not picking up one of the Sentinels back during the DOTM line, but now I'm glad I waited for the Studio series one xD

I've already talked about SS Sentinel but it really is a great figure.

If you can find the original DOTM voyager for cheap, I recommend him. Simply for curiosity's sake and to see how things have evolved in a decade. Also, as a stand alone toy, it's still quite fun.

At my local Target today I saw a WWII BB in SS 74 packaging. This appears to have been a genuine factory error as there were several of both on the pegs, and no evidence of tampering. Anyone else see anything like this?

Such factory errors don't exist, and hiding tampering has been really easy with the right tools. In this case, #74(BB) is the RotF Bumblebee one... with no discerning identifier like "WWII" or "Offroad", so toy swapping and getting away with it becomes even easier.

It seems to all have come from the same case however. Usually a toy swap occurs to exchange a common toy for a rare one or an older toy for a new one. There is no sensible motive here. I'm.not saying it isn't human tampering, but I don't think factories are perfect either

True, but it'd have to be on a bit of a larger scale before I dismiss human tampering. It's an easy mistake to make with so many Bumblebees...

John Warden confirms that SS86 Jazz's #14 was a deliberate combination of the G1 toy's #4 and the G2 toy's #1:
Hi All! We mixed up the numbers of G2 (1) and G1 (4) to keep it fresh in the alternate universe of War For Cybertron. That way customisers could choose which number they preferred. Jazz has always been a favorite of mine, glad people are excited by this figure.
Note that he also specifies it was done for the WFC Trilogy when Jazz was released as a Studio Series figure instead.

Okay... I get that is THE official answer... Still, kinda sounds like BS...
This Jazz (which yeah, funny ended up in SS86) is the G1 version...
SO... Someone wanting to “customize” this has to go through a whole lot to make this a G2 version, not just somehow make omitting the ‘4’ look decent...
IF this is truly legit & this was the plan from the start, then it’s one of those times I have to ask, “why?”... Meaning imo this was a highly questionable decision from the get go.
Yeah, it’s possible, but seems a little bit of a stretch that a decision like that would be based on the huge market of people who would buy this with the intent of drastically changing it through customizing.

And isn't it easier to turn a 1 into a 4 instead of trying to remove 1 of the numbers?

Whatever. For those who gave OCD about this, Reprolabels to the rescue!

I would think so... Which was part of my point. Not to mention, just covering/removing one of them doesn’t mean the other that’s left is actually where you want it.

I love the nods they took from the Masterpiece, if I had the money I'd be picking him up for sure.

If my Wal-Mart still has him this week, I'll be picking him up with my stimmy.

I have to recommend him... Meaning, even if you have to put it on a credit card, you should this time.
He’s going to be $75-$90 on the afternarket. Add on a bit more for shipping.
He is a true leader figure, & even though Wheelie is a waste of plastic, Grimlock is totally worth it.

I hope we get a few photos of Slag soon!!!!

I also don't want to skip over SS74. He is a pretty neat figure! I like that the retooling was used for the chest/car mode for the movies, and i like the different color pallet, it makes him standout more from the initial release. I really like this mold, I am glad they went for another new one after the TLK/early SS one. They nailed this one.

Glad you were able to get ROTF Bee! That's my favorite SS deluxe. . . my favorite deluxe class figure in general, actually. I'm so glad they went with a more orange-ish yellow than SS-49, I hope a future SS DOTM Bumblebee has something similar.

After getting Hot Rod today, I decided to do something a bit different with my collection display:
Image
I got my DVD of the 1986 movie signed by both Peter Cullen and Frank Welker when they were guests at Liverpool Comic-Con last year, and seeing as we're getting lots of 86 movie themed toys I thought it would be a neat idea to add the DVD to the shelf display. I like how it looks, but I haven't decided if I should leave it as it is or add more figures to it. I was thinking about possibly getting Jazz and putting him to the left of Hot Rod, and either Earthrise Cliffjumper, the Wheelie that comes with Grimlock or the Daniel that will be with Slag to the right of Arcee. I also thought about putting Cyclonus on an elevated stand behind the DVD, but I usually don't mix factions on my Detolf shelves, and while I feel as if I should have more than one villain on there if I was going to, I really have no interest in buying Galvatron or Scourge.

I just finally got Scourge today. Very sharp figure. Well worth the purchase. I'm going to do a display similar to yours, except it'll be with my 20th anniversary DVD (also signed by most of the movie cast), and you can bet Cyclonus and Scourge will be a part of it, as will their minions. Only question is, would the previously released deluxe Cyclonus figures qualify as his "Armada."

Your Walmart is still selling Leaders? My local stores removed their tags and replaced them with tags for some other unrelated toy line like they did back in 2019. I haven't seen a Leader at Walmart since probably January before the reset. I got my Grimlock from Target. For that matter I haven't seen Voyagers at Walmart in quite some time either, last Voyager I saw there was that SS86 Hot Rod I bought on clearance in February.

Yeah I went in there last night and there were 7 SS leader Grimlocks on the shelf. They still have the spots for both the SS and WFC leaders. But yeah I haven't seen SS voyagers in Wallyworld in months. Got plenty of deluxes, though. What they do have voyagers of is Kingdom. 9 Dinobots to be exact. 9. With 1 Primal and 1 Inferno. On my end, it's Target that has been a wasteland for TFs. Nothing new since Christmas.
