Yeah, these extra "figures" are pretty worthless. Thankfully the main one is well worth it!
Also, looking through the photos again, Slag doesn't suffer from hollow forearms, and even in dino mode his hands are hidden and only visible from the bottoms of his feet.

I know at $50 a pop it doesn't hurt to spread them out, but I'm with you... Make 2 per year, and maybe one is an exclusive? I don't want this at all, but maybe Snarl since he had extremely limited screen time in the movie??
Either that or Swoop is indeed a huge voyager... Although my other thought is that Hastak is going to make more money off of him; I have a feeling we won't get swords, but re-colored blast effects that work for all of their guns.

Also, not meaning to troll, just really excited about Slag and talking about the other Dinobots!

Edit:
Alright alright!! Dang it... Those charts seemingly are pretty official...
I still want him taller than Siege/ER OP!!!! Otherwise I think it's going to look like a big miss.

Quick sidenote; check out Scourge is in fact shorter than Galvatron and Cyclonus.
Strangely, they have Springer as tall as Ultra Magnus... That doesn't seem right.

Also, it will be interesting to see; Snarl (my favorite) is usually seen with his sword...
I don't really want to, but if need be I'll buy a Gen Selects weapons pack if it includes their swords and new/re-colored blast effects. It would be nice if they created some specific "flame-styled" effect pieces for these guys (that would obvsly still work with other weapons).

Were any dinobot seen with a sword in the movie? That's the only source that counts for this line.

A better question would be: aside from Swoop, who was in Robot Mode?

You got me curious, so I checked the Wiki: https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Official_sizes_ ... ale_charts:

Officially, Cyclonus is 7 meters tall, Galvatron is 6 meters, and Scourge is only 5 meters. Again though, G1 cartoon was all over the place sometimes.

Springer is the same height as Optimus Prime, both are 6 meters tall. Ultra Magnus is slightly taller than both at 7 meters. Springer was apparently a pretty big boi.

Been a while, but weren't they all robots at the end so they could fly to fight Unicron? It was VERY brief, but I'm pretty sure they all did.

Edit: Found it.

They were also in robot mode when Optimus and Sunstreaker hot-dropped them to deal with Devastator during the Battle of Autobot City.

Thats the thing I like the least about it, kinda ruins the tail and means the the tail will be rigid and not able to swat any pesky sharkticons.

Definitely not liking the price on him either but means I'll have to pick up Grimlock at some point as they are looking to be what the POTP Dinobots should have been to begin with.

Not a fan of that tail gimmick either... Hastak loves gimmicks... Although I get it; they're toys. But by no means is that a deal-breaker. Really, my only other complaint is that of all parts, the horns should have been solid with no hollow bits... And yet...

The price doesn't bother me at all... And yes, this is what I advise to everybody; get these guys while you can! I'm betting the aftermarket price for these guys will start near $100.
Now that's an off-putting price. And with the others seemingly on the way, people selling will have the option to keep those asking prices jacked way up, because there will be some legitimate demand.

Interesting... I always thought Magnus was even taller compared to those two.
Here's a question for you... Why didn't they do a version of Magnus in SS86?
Give that leader slot in Kingdom to a BW character (even a repaint), and give UM a better figure!
Talk about an important character in the movie!!

He's, uh, not taller than Grimmy, is he?

I mean, I don't care, I will pick him up instantly.

Just asking is all.

Fair enough, I do wish they would've added tail articulation for him as well but I can't say I'm disappointed since I never really expected as much. Definitely way better then the potp version so im satisfied with it

Most likely for the same reason they didn't release a Cyclonus in the SS line: He was already getting a version in Kingdom, which released simultaneously.

I'm honestly struggling to think of a Beast Wars leader that would have made sense with what they were doing in Kingdom (all S1 characters that actually look like beasts). The original line only really had Optimus (which was way out of scale with the show) and Megatron, who did get one. Only other leader size guys from the show were Transmetals, and that clashes with the aesthetic they were clearly going for here.

Edit: I do agree that they should have used a BETTER mold for Ultra Magnus. If they had, I think it would have been a moot point that he was in the Kingdom line instead of Studio Series. Cyclonus doesn't fit in that well, but the mold is amazing, so who cares.

Sure... Don't get me wrong, I don't care how we get figures like Cyclonus and Galvatron as long as we get them. Just wish that characters like Magnus and Springer would've been in SS86 to get better figures.

Also, ignore my rushed, crappy Ps job (and yes, the perspective is different), and just see that this is roughly what I hope for SS86 Swoop in terms of scale.
The top of his bot head (not dino head peak) is about to the top of Grimlock's shoulder.
But he's still taller and bigger/thicker than OP.

Why are you thinking that UM would have gotten a better figure of in SS? They don't have any different budgets? UM in ss86 would have been what we got in Kingdom. Exactly what we got. Remember, SS86 only exists because Beast Wars has a pesky anniversary year the same as the movie.

Slag looks pretty good. I'm glad to see that his arms didn't turn out small-looking like they did on some of the PotP Dinobots. I also like how they incorporated his gun into his tail in alt mode. The Daniel figure is just as pointless as Wheelie, though; I would have much preferred if he came with a big ol' sword.

Two down, three to go. Don't drop the ball now HasTak.

william-james88 wrote:Question for you all, was swoop significantly shorter than the other Dinobots?

Maybe slightly, but not significantly. He certainly wasn't enough shorter that he could be made as a voyager and not suck, based on how huge the others are apparently going to be.

Now I'm going to sit back and read scale discussion between people who care more about scale than the cartoon itself ever did.

Not that I keep the backdrops from SS but I'd love it if Slag's is based off of the iconic "excuse me" line lol

Hmmmm, since this line is about the greatest TF:TM accuracy possible, maybe he actually will be Slag instead of Slug.

Here's hoping the scene-description on the back of his box just says, "Excuse me".

With the rest of the SS86 dinobots on the horizon I wanted a decepticon team to face off against them and I could never find a devastator that tickled my fancy. Then I saw generation toy rebuilder for $300 and I couldn't resist! It helped that emgo said they were his favorite devastator so far

I do feel a bit of guilt because all my stimmies are going to transformers but im so excited to recreate dinobots v devastator

Looks good. Can't say I'm a fan of how narrow the HIND legs are compared to the forelegs though. I'm sure they had their reasons...

Hopefully this is a sign that they'll do ALL of the dinobots.

Still happy with my PotP Dinos, so I'll be giving the SS ones a pass.

He's currently listed as Slag by Amazon and they get their listings from Hasbro's ordering catalogue.

Also the leaker won't be reading this but man, about time something gets leaked with proper photos. Why can't it always be this way?

It's just pretty clear to me that some of these figures were designed with different intent.
If you compare the mold details and amount of mold details between figures such as
Galvatron
Cyclonus
Scourge
Hot Rod
Jazz
Kup
Blurr

to others, such as the ER seekers, and most if not all of the Siege figures (although Springer could probably be added to that list), there is a noticeably different aesthetic.
There also seems to be a priority placed on screen accuracy, at least for bot mode.

I'm not seeing that with Kingdom UM, in almost any way.
He visually does not fit in with those other figures.
I understand that Galvs and Cyclonus were released in Kingdom... But the differences in mold detail between Cyclonus, and say ER Starscream are so blatantly obvious.

In other words, I wish the design intent and aesthetic for Kingdom UM matched those that I listed.

I'm doing some reorganizing in my basement and as a result my movie collection was in storage bins. Having recently found SS Dino and Bee movie Starscream (both are great by the way), it was time to cycle the movie bots back out. While transforming them from vehicle to bot for display, I managed to do something I have not managed before.

I got car Shatter from car to bot without popping off either arm or either fender.

Its a shame the QC is so bad, she otherwise would be a fun mold. I had only once before gotten her transformed the other way without going to pieces. I totally felt like a bomb disposal technician by the end knowing I was so close. Pucker factor 11.

Slag looks good. But he's huge. I was hoping he's be just a little smaller than Grimlock. But I preordered him on Amazon nonetheless. Bring on the other 3!
