I'm pretty sure the recycling triangle has to be on an unobscured part of the plastic

Since Optimus is being released without a trailer, is there any possibility of Megatron also seeing the light of day, without his extra stuff like the long barrel and extended stock? Of course the orange plug is a given, but would Hasbro be brave enough to release a toy gun these days that has even a slight resemblance to an actual gun, with the diecast parts and everything?

I don't see why they couldn't because over here, the dollar stores have enough cheapo plastic toy guns to make the NRA blush.

Releasing Prime without a trailer makes me wonder, are they going to re-issue Ultra Magnus without the trailer too?

A big fat no. Not for the lack of trying tho. I present to you, the proposed "Lava Megatron" aka "Safety Megatron" from 2001/2002, which got rejected:

The main problem with G1 Megatron is that, in addition to the orange "plug" and bright colors overall, the body or external surface of any toy gun (possibly including the grip) has to be made from a single color plastic, which is hard if not impossible to do with Megatron (I suspect the parts in question are not gang-molded). The 2010 RtS Legends Class cheated it by casting the necessary parts in orange, with the whole shebang minus the tip smothered in grey and silver paint.

Safety Megatron. This is another reason why I miss the 80's.

Well if they open the way with the Gun Mold reissues, why not release the Other Two:

Even if Hasbro is somehow able to finagle a reissue of gun!Megatron, those two won't happen. Browning is a semi-obscure Masterforce-only character and the .44 Magnum Robo that Kiloton (even more obscure) was based on never got a Transformers release at all. On top of that, you know how people say Megatron's mold is janky in robot mode? It's streamlined compared to those 2, especially the .44 Magnum Robo.

If Cleaning- "IT"S BROWNING!" -has any chance of reissue it's in the Encore line.

Indeed. Although we do seem stuck in a never ending loop of the same figures garnering all the attention as far as reissues and redesigns go. Killaton even in altmode does look ridiculous as a "toy" though. Can you imagine the look on parents faces when their kid pulls that out of a bag of Transformers?

No, because the sky isn't falling. The trailer isn't an integral part of the Optimus Prime's bot mode, but Ultra Magnus' trailer is most definitely an integral part of his.

However, if Hasbro wants to just reissue Prime's cab in a rainbow of colors I'd collect them all.

It's only a matter of choice regarding where to spend the extra cash, really. I'm skipping on most mainline transformers lately, using the cash on luxury goods.
Thus I could have Green G1 Optimus BAPE, but I Kikipop My School P-Chan instead.

I wonder when Optimus and Soundwave are going to hit the US shelves. A few people have Prime on Ebay already (UK and Taiwan) so it's probably going to be soon. I was fortunate with the last wave because my local Walmarts had all of them.

Video Review and US Sightings of 2019 G1 Optimus Prime Reissue

That was fast. We only learnt of the G1 Otimus Prime reissue a month ago and it has now been found at US retail. Like the 2018 reissues, this reissue is Walmart exclusive. It is priced at $50 and comes without a trailer, you can find the listing here.
The toy was found across a few states such as New Jersey and Hawaii and Larkin's Lair, who found him in Hawaii, has done a video review of the item showing all the contents for you to enjoy. Let us know if you intend on picking up this Optimus Prime in his minty G1-style packaging.

I was vaguely considering getting this, since my optimus doesn't have any accessories, but I think I'm going to pass on it.

I really like how they are releasing these, and the packaging and figure itself is great. I know people complained about the lack of a trailer, but I don't mind at all. That said, 50$ is steep for me, and as much as I really like it, it is out of my collecting price range. My budget is extremely limited, at 30$ a month, but that Soundwave might be the one exception to this, I NEED that guy.

Wow, that WAS fast.

Same size box as Hotrod, no trailer, and they want $50 for it. Come on son.

I'm buying one for sure. If it was $30 or $35 I would have bought two.

$100AUD through an Australian based online retailer.

As much as I'd like it, I simply cannot justify that much money.

A big deal was made out of him not having the trailer. I don't think it's that big of a deal. Yeah, when in his vehicle mode, he looks incomplete. But most times his displayed in bot mode and the trailer just becomes fluff that doesn't display well with a group of other bots.

What I do think is a big deal is the price. He is about the same size as Starscream which was $35, yet he is $50. Why? I think it's just because of the name. He is the ultimate Transformer. Fortunately I already have a G1 reissue from years back, I don't need another.

$50 USD for that? And no trailer? I can't tell if there's any significant deco changes and I don't know what accessories he comes with but surely he's not worth that price, even if he may be the Optimus Prime.

:MAXIMAL:

And don't forget, he has rubber tires too. Pretty sure Hot Rod didn't have those. That second gun might also be a factor

It saddens me that box turned an auto-buy (pun intended) into a straight up "nope" from me. Maybe a second run will remove the weirdness with the grey, but I doubt that.

A pity.
