I keep thinking that the reason the retailers other than TRU wouldn't stock these more expensive toys is because they just can't move such hi dollar toys, but then it occurred to me, they sell plenty of Legos. Every day. Those larger sets get really expensive. Maybe it is a space issue. But also, maybe there is hope.

Here's a rundown of other points brought up at the toyfair that I didnt see posted elsehwere on this thread yet:

Each of Titan Class Devastator's components is roughly the size of the original Devastator toy.

Titan Devastator was a collaboration between designers John Warden and TakaraTomy's Shogo Hasui, who was driven by an almost-religious fervor to see that Devastator reached perfection (and reportedly got very little sleep in the process).

With Titan Devastator considered the one chance to do an accurate "dream scale" Devastator that would appeal to both hardcore and casual fans, Hasbro did not want to commit to doing "Prowlastator," given that concept's relatively recent introduction into the lore.

While the color layout of the Devastator on display was final - including painted black "windows" on his Mixmaster foot - the green will be changed for better consistency on the finished product.

Mixmaster's change into an industrial cement mixer came about both to modernize him and to bring him into better scale with Long Haul's gigantic "mining dump truck" altmode.

Devastator's poseability includes "monster hip joints" and rocker ankles on both sides.

A presenter suggested that it would be pretty awesome to see Devastator redone as the Build Team.

I am not a fan of the following double standard though:

I never cared about either change or non change but I do not like lack of consistency in reasoning for design.

/shrug

I don't really see it as a double standard though... They DO want to appeal to causal fans. To Casual Fans, Devastator is construction vehicles... Casual fans probably wouldn't have noticed the foot was slightly updated if the hard core fans didn't point it out. I certaintly didn't.

However, if there 5 construction vehicles and a police car.... As a casual fan I would have considered it a MASSIVE wasted opportunity. SoOOOO close to the dream, then tanked for the sake of a recent comic...

Prowlastator would have appealed to Fans of the comics... but I suspect that is a smaller slice of the pie. For something THIS big, it really was best to go as iconic as possible. Changing a mixing truck to a mixing truck? Less of a big deal.

Besides, I suppose it's possible for them to release a prowl separately later to plug in there... maybe? sorta?

"Prowlvestator" is TOO NEW!
Ultra Magnus comes with Minimus Ambus.

Let's apply scale to EVERYTHING!
Everybody's got an F1 race car combined with their jets and helicopters.

I can see a 3P group doing a two pack consisting of a compatible Prowl and a reengineered Hook to form the left leg.

I would buy that

Lego is like the #1 toy in the galaxy so stores can afford to have those larger, pricier sets on shelves. Keep in mind there are these super deluxe sets that sell for thousands of dollars only available at select locations. In non movie years Transformers has a hard time selling since there isn't a ton of interest. I hate to say it but that's how it is.

Combiner Wars Devastator package art pencils - 2014 - I'm allowed to post this image. The studio that does the color for the Transformers Legends game worked on the colors for the final illustration ! Prepare for extermination!

Do the individual Constructicons come with weapons? I see Bonecrusher and Scavenger have them (really Devy's hands converted), but no the others.

Devastator's chest shield and gun split apart for individual weapons.

A tip from fellow Seibertronian shajaki brings us the linework by Marcelo Matere for the box art of the recently revealed Hasbro Transformers Combiner Wars Devastator. You can find the image mirrored below, showing off the gestalt form as it appears before colouring and glossing, and in its extended version. Enough to make you want to keep the toy's box too?

If only the actual Mixmaster toy's foot mode looked like that. Beautiful work.

Looks like he just drew a stylized illustration of the 1985 toy instead of using the new Titan figure as a reference.

Very nice artwork. More G1 Devastator than CW Devastator, but still nice. The box is WAY too big for me to want to keep though!

Mixmaster foot corrections or not this is awesome. This makes me want to see more of the transformer card artwork in all it's raw, line art glory.

I'm torn on this. I have Hercules (I thought it was Green Giant but I mixed the two up) which I think is a good hefty solid Devastator. You could throw one of those components through a window.

But the individual guys don't really match the actual Constucticons as much as I'd like. These guys do, although they also look flimsier and I'm not keen on spending $150.00 after spending $400-$500 on the other set.

I look at the new Mixmaster and I see..... a mixer-forward cement truck. If anybody's a toilet on wheels, it's Long Haul because he's a DUMP truck..... anybody? Anybody? Okay I'm sorry that was funnier in my head.
