I still think I'm getting the Hasbro version. I know they don't have elbows, but 3rd party companies will make it happen. ;)^

They're molded in you know right?...

I am so in for this version of Devestator. It's not just the elbow bit that gets me (as I was rarely going to pose them individually and in 'bot mode), but the paint apps are so much better. I love what they've done with Bonecrusher's treads for example.

Perhaps the Hasbro version will be getting elbows after all? Maybe with the fan feedback they determined that they were able to make a design change to both Scrapper and Long Haul so that they can both have elbows (looks like Long Haul has proper elbows now, too).

There's a chance, but there's that same chance that unicorns will fly out of my butt

This has got to be the most hilarious thing I've read on Seibertron. XD

And no, the Hasbro version already has a couple reviews, I don't think they'll change it at this point.

What may be possible is that TakaraTomy is using an older version of the design that had the elbows, which were eliminated by a revision made by Hasbro. Wouldn't be the first time joints were taken out for cost concerns (beginning of RotF).

This makes the Hasbro molds look like unfinished prototypes.

The paint apps are amazing. Why can't we get that here?

I have no shame in supporting Hasbros Devastator. I plan to only display him in combined mode so elbows and guns are pointless to me. So I should feel shame over that? I think not.

So I'm going to ask this question to you (and anyone else who feels like answering) ... when you purchase Takara Tomy's Devastator, how will you be displaying him?

If I do get Takara Devastator I'll do what I do with all my combiners and alternate between having them in robot, vehicle and combined mode. I don't keep my TFs permanently displayed in one mode. Variety is the spice of life after all.

That's how I do it as well. But I would prefer getting the takara version regardless because part of me would truly feel that I am getting a subpar product if I stick with Hasbro. It isnt just paint apps this time.

I usually don't care what version of a figure I get but I am starting to see things the way many of you do. The Hasbro versions are sometimes lacking!

Mine will go back and forth before eventually being put away for storage because, like yourself, I have limited space. Keep in mind I have no problem with Hasbro's Devastator, I just like Takara's more.

Oh well :( Guess I'll have to see if there's a good third-party solution to invest in. I still plan on getting the set.

Devastator really is a thing of beauty. I can't wait for preorders to hit.

Also, I had no idea the Animated Black Arachnia mold was so tall - she towers over Nightbird and Slipstream.

Isn't anybody going to demand that he be priced at the same SRP as the Hasbro version? 8-}

I wasn't planning to do that, but if it would help make your evening complete, I'd be happy to accommodate. ;)

;) You know what I mean "Y". Given how aside from mere additional paint apps and a retool of the main mold + retractable visor.. Does this justify a price difference from the Hasbro/SDCC(?) version?

Maybe hasbro got rid of Scrappers Elbows because Scappers Elbows may loosen over time and then Devy won't be able to stand. Unless Scrappers arms clip together at the elbow for transformation.

I doubt it. They still use ball joints and they weaken over time. The thought that Scrapper might be mistransformed in all the Hasbro pics is the best theory I've heard yet, but I won't be surprised if he really just doesn't have elbows.

Maybe they feel a need to simplify and strengthen designs for the north american audience, anticipating kids here playing more roughly with their toys? :/ At least us collectors have the alternative to import the Takara versions. :)

I agree... with the caveat that I hope, for any of my fellow domestic Transformers fans who may be interested in buying it, that this hypothetical difference is not one that is too extreme!

About the shoulders on Scrapper, as near as I can tell, from bens collectables' review or whatever, the shoulders LOCK very securely, so they won't (or shouldn't) move until you unlock them. Which means that the arms all being flat surfaces should not bend inwards because the shoulder is rigid, and the wrists don't appear to be beveled or curved in a way that would make them give in and make it fall. At any rate since they appear to have a bicep swivel you can modulate them as necessary to fit your posing needs >:oP
