They definitely timed this release well, just got back from the 07 movie rerelease (we were cleared shortly after when our tickets were supposed to be earlier this week). It was awesome! Even better than I remember. So glad I got to experience it in theaters!

It's one of those movies that really does improve when watched in theaters.

Oh man, I really want that set... But it would cost 350 usd to import it, damn it. Can't justify that kind of money. Guess I'll keep hunting for the individual guys locally. Could anyone who gets it upload scans of the backdrops when you do? I'd like to print them out.

Edit: One little nitpick aside from some odd deco choices: I wish Optimus had come with an unmasked head in this one. I get why they didin't do it, most people don't like it and his faceplate is more iconic. But we haven't gotten him without his faceplate in Studio Series so far aside from a single sighting of an SS-05 variant. And he also was "unmasked" in the two scenes the backdrops included represent.

Not really - this thread is for discussion of the "Studio Series". That includes all figures made for the Studio Series - including the 86 figures. This thread is not an exclusive dominion for Bayverse fanboys. So I'm afraid you will have to deal with the fact that this thread is not for steak-lovers only, and those who prefer OTHER kinds of food are well within their rights to say so here, so long as they don't make it mean spirited! Likes and dislikes are entirely subjective, and those who like Bayverse movies (and their associated figures) are perfectly free to do so - but that don't mean I have to like 'em. ;). It doesn't take anything away from the bayverse fans when other people bow out. Just means there will be more Bayverse figures for them to enjoy.

To me, I hardly think the Bayverse films and figures are comparable to a good steak dinner. They're more like goulash, or maybe haggis.... ;)

Technically, the SS86 have their own thread, as that's where the Wheelie pictures were shown.

This is true! The title for this thread here simply uses the generic "Studio Series" for identification, which can be confusing. Because the Studio Series encompasses many kinds of figures now, not just the Bayverse films. Perhaps they should amend the name of the thread to "Studio Series Bayverse" or something - that way those of us who aren't interested in Bayverse movies/figures won't stumble in and spoil the fun....

Or you could just, you know, not constantly repeat the same opinion you've broadcasted a hundred times. You don't like any bayverse designs, we get it. We know it already. That's fine. But there's no need to say it every time something about those designs is posted.

The movies toylines are over 15 years old.
You have been saying that you hate the Bayverse for over 15 years.

Why you're still not over it by now?

I'm genuinely curious.

It's more like 14 years. I thought the 1st movie was OK, actually. Even got some of the figures. They did some silly things in movie 1 (to this day, the Bumblebee 'urination' scene makes me wince), but the newness and action was palatable. I don't recall ever saying I hate the Bayverse - only that I don't like it. There's a difference.

As to 'not being over it', that's simply because I felt the Bayverse movies haven't gotten any better, despite having had 15 years of practice. I was prepared be a supporter of the franchise, but they didn't learn from their storytelling mistakes. If they'd improved their technique and refined it, that would have been awesome. But I'll be the first to admit their success. They're making loads of money, so they must be doing something right - and they keep making more of them. I simply find their reliance on vulgarity, stereotypical characters, and slow-motion tumbling has become more gauche than endearing. Hope that doesn't offend - but you DID ask.

I feel like TLK was made as bad as it was on purpose. Bay had wanted out of these movies since DOTM, but Hasbro wouldn't let him go until he finally made a movie that didn't make bank. And he had to have known the kind of reaction he'd get for putting Nazi banners on Winston Churchill's estate, of all places. That had to have been part of an attempt to get Hasbro finally to let him go.

Thankfully, we were finally given a decent film in the Bumblebee movie, and I mean that regardless of its Cybertron scenes. Here's hoping Rise of the Beasts learns from that movie's positives more than anything.

That would make sense if he wasn't still producing them himself.

For BB and RotB the only thing he isn't doing is directing.

Seems he's finally stepped off for the 2024 prequel.

I meant that he wanted to stop directing them. Producing he seems to be fine with.

Seems odd though to want to keep producing something you actively tried to make bomb so you could stop directing.

Unless Hasbro signed him on for like 10 movies from the beginning, I don't see why he couldn't have said "no more" after Dark of the Moon and just left.

Still, Bay is not known for good movies. Just fun popcorn romps, with some being truly horrible even outside of Transformers.
But AOE and Last Knight are just face-palmingly bad. Wether he tried to derail them or not can't say for sure. Maybe he just likes terrible scripts.

Yes BB is a fun time, but is by no means a "good" movie. Just less bad than the previous ones.

And I say this while owning all the movies on blu-ray except Dark of the Moon.

Ah, this looks wonderful. I bought a house last year, and my bots have stayed in moving totes pending my basement being finished. It's underway, but hopefully soon my bots will look as good as yours

Amazon listings in other countries show an upcoming SS TLK Crosshairs, which is interesting because initial listings indicated it was the AOE Version (bot mode is the same between movies, but alt mode has a different spoiler and hood). Excited to see what it looks like!

I am very excited for this. Crosshairs is one of my favorite designs from the last 2 movies. Hopefully he turns out as a new mold and not just a redo of the TLK mold!
