That scale is insane even if accurate... no way they can make him that big, he'd be crazy expensive.

Yeah, I agree. Even though the G1 animation model/toy scale is represented in the picture, the toy would probably be more to scale with MP10 Prime / Soundwave... Which is kinda sad...

that video shows "Private", I believe Takara's team knows that their goal is only local market... the vote was in japanese pdf form with useless requirements that made hard/impossible to vote for collectors around the world... good luck on that MP... I pass too

No one is forcing anybody to buy him. And, it was a Japan based poll so "gaijin" opinions wouldn't matter anyway.

Anyone that had the points could have sent them in to vote, the "gaijins" had their chance.

Dude, if they scale him to MP10 Optimus, the way they promised each MP would from now on, that thing's going to be huge, he'll be the about the same size as Generations Metroplex

That scale pic can't be right, that's insane.

This is cool for those who wanted a new Star Saber, I mean as far as I know, the guy's only had his original toy and an OK RM figure. I had a KO of the RM and it was kinda fun.
So while I say right now that this thing won't make it into my collection, should the price be sane, or reduced at some point (like hell it would), I may get it. But it's not important to me.

Those words you speak is what a layman would say. Star Saber is a big fat cop out. But like a true layman, you fail to notice the simplicity of it all.

Would be possible, actually. Convoy had Spike, and King Exkaiser had Kouta, plus his dog Mario.

If he comes out I'll buy a dollhouse to reenact the scene where he takes Jan to school for the first time 8-} But first I must check what he will be priced at... :-?
I'd only want it to come with a Jean figure if it also came with a toy of the Illumina II that he could pilot. ;)

I wouldn't think so since Magnus's armor forms around his body, while Saber's body is folded up and inserted into a slot in the V-Star to form his Star Saber mode.

No way he'll be that big.

Perceptor's about as tall as Prowl and Sideswipe were, and though he was short than Prime he comes up just past Star Saber's knee.

And here we see that (non-Star) Saber is about the same height as these three, maybe only a head taller.

So I can't see this toy being any taller than a Unicron Trilogy Supreme class toy.

Possible largest Masterpiece figure yet, this is a positive, doing a figure that is unique, fun, interesting, cool, and an Cybertron (Autobot) leader that isn't one of the...sons of Convoy, is also a huge positive. These are selling points not reasons to whine. If your not interested because you ave no emotional investment, (or watched the anime and hated the character), that's fine. But don't start with the statements on how it can't be done, or won't be executed correctly.

Give Takara a chance. Hasbro is the company I'm more worried about for this figure in terms of weather or not they even decide to sell it in America, or even bother to promote it.

Hasbro did try to release a Robot Heroes Victory Saber with Deszaras, and Star Saber does appear in the IDW comics. At least a Generations figure wouldn't be too far of a stretch, but a Masterpiece in the US? Don't think so.

You missed a sentence there, Sabrblade: "I certainly would not have minded an Armada Prime. I'd imagine the transformation with the trailer would be similar to the upcoming Ultra Magnus release." After that I segue into how nice a MP Star Saber would look.

Those pictures of scale... this should be interesting.

Oh I forgot that Takara is still whoring out the three Alternity molds. But my point still remains. It's still a significantly small number of toys that character has had for the 20 something years he's existed. So he's well deserving of an update.

I couldn't be happier, since Victory is the only era of Japanese G1 I love enough to shell out big bucks for. I don't have actual childhood memories of it, but the moment I saw the full toyline, I retconned it right back in, because that's the line the U.S. should've gotten in 1989. 1988 was the best dang year Hasbro ever gave us in terms of the sheer variety of fun gimmicks, and the switch to nothing but Pretenders and Micromasters the following year was the hardest left-turn American G1 ever made; Victory was a WAY more natural continuation (though without the full '89 line, we might never have gotten Bludgeon and Thunderwing developed into icons in the comics, so it's a Catch 22).

The complaints about the winner not being geewun enough are particularly baffling because...would ANY of the contenders here have qualified? The ultimate irony is that Star Saber is, in fact, the best outcome for anyone who wants all of the '84-'85 guys to get MP toys. Why? Because he begs for an MP Victory Leo to combine with, which would be an important first step towards Masterpiece gestalts. Furthermore, the Breast Force would make a lot of sense as the first MP gestalt team, since LioKaiser was so close to being self-contained that he'd mostly have to be redesigned for better articulation and show-accuracy, a great warm up for designers who'd then face the daunting task of achieving that plus incorporating the kibble of earlier gestalts into their individual components. No, I haven't tried any 3rd party gestalts because none of them seem to be going for true show-accuracy, so I don't know how well Herc and co. have done in that department. I won't plop down that kind of cash for an MP Devastator or Superion (legit or not) unless it looks more accurate than their original toys, and an MP Star Saber makes me feel like that's one step closer to happening.

Unless this just turns out to be a reissue...which Saber needs anyway because he's mostly white, therefore mine will eventually yellow. And a lot of us who want him don't have a vintage one yet.

They should make him around the same height as the redundant MP Leaders, So he can be displayed with Convoy and Megatron. As that anime scale looks silly, I even think the new MP scale is a bit off, I'd much rather prime be a bit smaller or the autobots be a bit taller. The way I see it in a fight soldiers just below the leader should be able to have it out toe to toe with a leader and have a bit of a chance. Just like how Hot Rod stepped up to Galvatron and with the help of the matrix and a few feet growth spurt was not just an equal maych but you know the outcome.

The scale at the moment has prime towering above SideSwipe and the others and it looks like there his kids. I think realisticaly this figure just needs to be a bit bigger, and when fully combined be twice the height of the current line in average.
The main problem will be with posing. Figures of this kind have a proportion problem , as there thighs are the same when standard and then when combined just the loew part of the leg is extended, so poses are compramised and depending on the sturyness the posses maybe very limited.

Unless they plan to fix any flaws and they are going to come up with new techniques and bring something fresh to the table just as when the first MP figure was released, we can have a good idea of what this figure will be like as not only is the an MP figure that looks the same from colours and weapons even, the figure also has very similar combining features right from the small robot into the big robot and then the two big robots combining and the combining transformation again is very similar. So the MP BRave exkaiser or what ever his name is will give us a good idea of what they have planned. I think if they use the same design implimentations, then I think the scale will be almost identical too.

The thing with the scale here is there is no realworld reference. Prime and the cars have an alternate mode scale to reference the scale, it plays a 95% roll in the poutcome of the final robot mode. Here we have an alternate mode that has no real world reference, plus the character has appeared in various mediums and the scale has altered , not as much as Fortress Maximus from anime to comic, but I don't feel the scale plays an important roll as it does with figures such as metroplex. And at the end of the day if he has to be bigger, he will be as big as Takara feel people are willing to pay and no bigger, regaurdless of weather they said everything will be to scale, otherwise we would have a fortress Maximus figure the size of a house, no one could afford it but Takara made a promise, so the scale rules are only going to be met when it is essential to the characters persona when on display, and has a standardised scale reference, such as wheelie and grimlock, we all know that wheelie can ride grimlock, and an MP of him would have no problems with meeting them requirements. as the vehicle mode would be the right size, what is wheelie, is he a spectrum single seater or something?

Alright, for those who said they're not interested, just because there's simply no appeal to you, that's perfectly fine. For those of you that argue this will never sell and then go as far as to try and convince everyone to think the same as you, 'cause this toy doesn't meet your taste, 'cause you think it's stupid, culminating by implying there is something wrong with you if you desire this toy...

I'm sorry, ****-off, I hate Twilight, Harry Potter - the character, and actually have a real issue with Hunger games main protagonist, yet, I will still not stop someone from enjoying these things.

Read about the "New Sincerity Movement". This is THE philosophy of the 21st century for western culture. I prescribe to it. All Transformer fans should feel the same, in opinion.

That's backwards. In the song, the singer was asking if Star Saber did all those misbehaving actions as a kid, to which Star Saber himself shook his head "No" in response, and only nodded "Yes" to the one question that wasn't about bad behavior, which simply asked if he used to be a kid like all of us are/were. ;)
