Yeah, and that's where it actually works against: he's more likely to get new releases.

Obscure Japanese Character 1, well-known Character 0.
The point I was trying to make was that the mold having it's shortcomings for the characters it's trying to represent makes it not worth the price it's being sold for, but Astrotrain being more well known (and thus more popular?) would upset more people than an obscure Japanese character. Or is it the same expectation with Galaxy Shuttle despite the obvious difference in their profiles?

Of course, if Astrotrain had been done right to begin with, maybe the inaccurate Galaxy Shuttle also would have been accepted more easily.

I'm not sure I follow, this inaccurate Galaxy Shuttle is being accepted with open arms, based on that crazy mark up.
Alright, for some reason I concluded that the Galaxy Shuttle figure was a bit of a disappointment due to being a redeco of a substandard mold? I guess I got my wires crossed somewhere.

No, we are both wondering the same thing afterall. I remember a lot of people (maybe even you, not sure) saying that Astrotrain as a leader was a ripoff since it was a voyager, and that's beyond the shuttle mode looking poor. I read this all over various boards. And yet a redeco of that same supposedly ripoff toy is one of the most wanted toys right now. I'm not seeing the same disdain or lukewarm response for Galaxy Shuttle that I did for astrotrain even though Galaxy shuttle is not just a simple redeco, but a simple redeco of a supposedly dislike toy.

Which leads me to think that people probably didn't hate the astrotrain mold afterall l.

I have my criticisms about the messy top of the shuttle and the tiny train nose, but both are way tame compared to Blitzwing's tankpenis and the ultra chonky-fat "jet" mode.
Astrotrain is still pretty enjoyable and looks nice. It's also true that Galaxy Shuttle have a little je ne sais quoi over Astrotrain.

:D I personally loved the astrotrain because it felt like they did a great job of conveying his altmodes true to the g1 cartoon, the colors, and at the time, the transformation was fun. Galaxy being white and also featured as the main mode of transportation for most of the Victory cast most of the time,
And with victory Saber just being released, its no wonder everyone wants one to go next to their saber.

And, speaking of Galaxy Shuttle, while some have compared his head to that of Jazz, watching one of Thew's videos has directed me to another's head that his resembles: Quickshadow.

Maybe it's just FOTM, or people looking to invest into a rare Exclusive?

You have to take a few shots and squint really, really hard to see any resemblances.

Take it up with Thew. It was his idea.

So you think GS being an obscure character to begin with and not having any new figures in 30 years had little to no impact on his sales? And it might be a stretch, but his deco also lends the character to be toy-accurate Astrotrain as well. That might have been a factor for some sales, however minor.

That's an awesome video series. I'm looking forward the next episode!

I adore Galaxy Shuttle, as I do like the mold despite some weaknesses with it and he is a novelty in terms of character really.

Me. I thought my aunt had managed to snag me one that hadn't been hoovered up, but that turned out not to be the case.

william-james88 wrote:Looking at the facts, I'm not sure a rerelease of Cosmos is warranted, business wise. Sure, it will help some who didn't get it, but looking at the market price (40-50 USD), it's pretty tame for something deemed super rare.

....

Where the actual hell are you seeing 40-50 USD for Cosmos, Will? Aside from a handful of Ireland and UK listings where the obnoxious international shipping effectively makes it more like 70-90?

Just checked sold listings, and several were at the 40-50 USD price. I didn't check the provenance so they may be from the UK.

I think you are looking in the wrong areas, I am looking at US sold listings, cheapest was around $66 shipped, and they seem to be around $75 typically.

Our numbers are not so far off since I wasn't including shipping cost either
IMO you can't dismiss shipping cost when it's $20+. You can't say "It's the shipping, it doesn't count" when it's that much, that's a significant bump in the amount you have to spend.

I'm a fan of the SIEGE Astrotrain mold myself, so I'd like to get him as well.

This here Canadian rarely order from Pulse for that very reason. Also those 3 years of COVID shenanigans put my Mandarake spending almost to a dead stop. Recently, DHL is no longer mandatory, but EMS is barely better. Let's hope Japan will finally unlock small air packets for Canada soon.

Got Galaxy Shuttle incoming. Really doubting it will change my mind over me prefering the TR Astrotrain or even the classics, him being too little is actually a win for my display purposes though.

If anyone is still looking for Cosmos, he is currently in stock on Walmart's website. I don't know for how long though.

It's been up on their website for at least a day - but the 'buy now' button, and the 'add to cart' button are both non-functional. My minions have been trying to get one ever since it popped up, so far to no avail. According to the website, at least 200 people are looking at that page at any given moment, and supposedly over 200 people have it in their carts.

Their customer support people say it's out of stock, but it takes their website 24 hours to update, so we're getting error messages when we try to purchase.

So in the end, it's STILL not available. Has anyone else here actually been able to add it to their carts and complete a purchase?

I know someone who did. The window was exceedingly short once the internet got ahold of the news.

I don't know what was worse, not having him on the site at all, or it being ghtier mocking people with a defective add to cart button! lol

I guess on the positive side it being there you can check other store inventory.

A random find today at my local Walmart in Nixa, Missouri. Apparently they had a restock of the deluxes and I was able to find Cosmos. I just have some form of good luck, 2nd time finding him in the store.

There's a certain skull-faced, death-reviewing user on here who's desperate for a Cosmos.

How lucky, nice find!

After having him in hand I'm a bit at odds with his size, he towers over Bumblebee and I thought he and bee were pretty close in height? It's been a while since I've seen them together in an episode though. He also seems a bit on the bulky side.

He's still a cool bot and much better version than the last one!

From the stream today:
Per B-Mac: As of right now, Velocitron Hot Rod does not have an official plan for release at this time. It isn't officially canceled, but there is no plan for release.

What a "Velocitron Hot-Rod" would look like anyway? He would be based on which version of the character? If it's the Energon truck, that would be special and surprising.
