Okay, no SOPA posts unless you follow up with some Gigatron love or hate!

But yeah, it would take a delicately worded bill to ensure copyrights/royalties are respected, but fair process is followed — and keep the internet looking like we've come to know and love it.

Kinda like the Patriot Act was too far and dangerous in its scope, this could easily snowball into a horrible thing without some checks and balances.

I don't want to see an internet where you can't post a funny pic, or sing along to your favorite song, or...

......

Back on topic, though... I hope somebody, Botcon or otherwise, makes a Mega to pair up with this guy... and add the airplane nose on his arm.

If it's the custom class bot, the world will go into upheaval....cats and dogs living together.

Fair enough gothsaurus ... ;)

I'm not opposed to the use of this mold for Overlord. I don't think it's the best choice, but we don't know what molds they were able to pick from. This might have been the best of the available molds.

With that said, I think the head looks terrible. Well, to be specific, the nose is terrible. It's too long or too flat. If you block out his nose with your finger, you'll see that the overall design of the head is OK. It's just the nose that's screwed up.

I'm curious why TCC and BotCon has had such a difficult time with some head molds over the past five or six years (i.e. Astrotrain (sketches were awesome but the final product was not), Beast Megatron's inverted eyes (the black part), Counterpunch's head too small, etc). It seems like some of these are rushed, or they're not given the chance to be corrected, or there isn't enough time left on the table to handle corrections, or something.

I'd love to know more about that side of the business so that I can speak more educated about why this happens.

I'm covering up my nose, but the head sculpt looks the same!

Oh...yeah. I mean....

I think part of the problem is there's SOOO little margin for error. As humans, we pay a lot of attention to faces. And if those proportions are even slightly wrong — or expressions change — we notice.

Soundwave's chin... I'm talking about you.

Something else that may come into play — early on, I heard in a panel that FunPub had to pick their top 3 molds for a character... and they'd get what was available. (I remember it was 2005, because I thought about the other insect molds that might have been used as the bug clones). It COULD be the case that they are having to design a head with a possible three figures it could be added to... and depending on which it ends up on, it might fit better or worse in proportions. (?)

But I don't know if that's still the case. That was 2005.

I wonder if part of Soundwave's problem was the bright-light-flash from the front. With better lighting, maybe the chin will roll of, shading come in across the bottom, and it look more normal.

All things considered. Maybe a better photo shoot with dramatic lighting might make the publics impressions of these toys change for next year (?) Hmmmm.
:-?

Oh yeah. Gigatron.... looking good there, Gigatron.

I'd love to get my hands on Botcon figures in advance in order to do proper photoshoots of them. I think I could change a lot of opinions about these figures by giving them love from the Seibertron.com galleries. Of course, they seem to sell out no matter what so apparently it doesn't matter what I want.

I really want to like this guy but I'm having a hard time. I would have preferred the Universe Silverbolt mode, I think it shares a lot of design similarities to Overlord in robot mode and it's alt mode is a pretty close match to Overlord's jet component.

A number of people mentioned that, but there's no way to know if that mold was available.

The more I see this figure, the more I think this mold should have been somebody else. Maybe even SG Magnus (not that I dislike their current mold choice for Magnus). Anyway, this Gigatron/Overlord/whatever is a decent looking figure, I'm just having difficulty identifying it with the character(s) that it is supposedly representing. Is it just me, or am I seeing silver metallic paint on the chest? Nice touch.

Feet don't match the face IMHO. Change them feet and it might have been a nice figure, otherwise i'm thinking "Star Wars Crossovers".

Yeah, I thought about the feet, too. Was thinking it might be something to kitbash a fix on. (Trying to remember if there's a screw or a pin there. Hmmm.

Either way, you can pose him in the back... foot problem fixed! LOL.

Hey, TFCC Drift's theme is officially a Marvel crossover, so...

Hey. I'm not sure a color scheme can count as an "official" crossover. I think that skirts the legal department quite effectively. ;)

SG Drift is supposed to be colored like (and act like) Marvel's Deadpool character.

Instead of SG he should have simply been "Head and Shoulders" Gigatron. Look if we are lucky Headrobots will do something about that 33lb. head and like Blood improve those blades. :VEHI:

It was congress who created the bill in the first place so e-mailing most of them is like preaching to the choir. Especially my congressman who is republican and does not want to hear from democrats like me.

I don’t fear SOPA because ALL politicians use Facebook and Twitter who don’t support this bill. Also E-Bay and Youtube is too big to battle on capital hill. It’s the cyber equivelint to a mom and pop store trying to take on Wal-Mart. Not gonna happen.

But isnt it ironic how so many people that bashed KOtoys on behalf of Hasbro are now rallying against an "anti-piracy" bill ???

Two different things totally, so no it is not ironic to me.

As for the bill, you may want to sit down and read the SOPA and PIPA bill a bit more. It isn't so much mom and pop vs walmart, but the Movie Industry and RIAA vs Seibertron.

What will end up happening is the quiet disappearance of sites that may be the next Youtube (Vimeo for example). This bill also has an affect on sites outside of the United States. Imagine Bay getting a hair in the wrong place and filing a petition against KOtoys for having an image of Bumblebee that looks similar to the movie version. That site could be taken down without due process. The time and money it takes to bring the site back up and the loss in revenue could mean death for that site all because of a single image that may or may not have been from his movie.

If this Bill had gone into effect a few years ago, we wouldn't have a YouTube at all. It would have been shut down because of Viacom.

Not fearing it because you are relying on people that are voting on the same technology that they use and don't understand is the equivalent of trusting your best friend to drink and drive because he likes his car and knows to stop at red lights.

While I don’t know the specifics of SOPA, I am aware of what it means. It is basically censorship in the greatest form of extremism. It’s all about the film and music industry wanting to stand up against file sharing and streamlining because they simply aren’t making the profits they used to. So they lobbied to politicians who deviated from the original vision and wrote a piece of legislation from a much broader spectrum in an effort to be politically correct. To them it sounds great on paper, but theoretically is impossible to enforce.

But if this piece of legislation gets passed, trust me those creeps at Hasbro will be the first ones to try to enforce it. People might not agree with me standing up for KOToys or comparing their “KO piracy” to the “online piracy” SOPA is trying to regulate. But it’s the same ideology that drives both forces. It’s about big corporations seeing dwindling profits in today’s dragging economy and making a statement by crying to law makers. It’s a last ditch effort to try and recoup lost profits. They have to pay for those Bentleys and bottles of Dom Pirignon they bought last year before their quarterly profit reports came in. I believe the only way a corporation can maintain a large profit margin is by staying innovative with today’s technology and the people that use it. If something doesn’t net the profit it used to bring in, come up with something better. People are not going go back to the 1990’s mentality and start buying CD’s and DVD’s again. The media companies need to stop living in the past. And the same goes for Hasbro. It’s time to stop worrying about who uses the Starscream mold that dates back to 2006. Get a new mold and move on. Corporations are not going to win by being a bunch of snitches and cry babies.

While that's part of it, the part that scares me is this: under SOPA, if you were to post a video of you singing to a song on Youtube, and then post that video here on Seibertron.com's open forums, and if someone reported it, my site gets removed by my host without any question and without any justice. I can face stiff fines and jail time for something you guys posted on my site. The worst part yet is that the initial complaint about the copyright violation doesn't even have to come from the owner of the intellectual property. ANYONE could make a complaint. Seibertron.com's server host would have to comply by blocking the domain within 7 days or else they could also be held liable. It's a **** up law that has NO place in our country.

It's unfortunate to read what you wrote. Hasbro should have the right to protect their intellectual property. They should be worried about who is reproducing their old products. But I'm not here to argue that. Many of you have made it clear that you enjoy 3rd party products and I'm not going to waste my time debating the ethics or legalities of those products. I think it's very unfortunate that any of you think that any company has a right to make Transformers toys other than Hasbro, Takara Tomy, or companies that they license.

This is just a quick custom I worked up over the last week since I found out I wouldn't be able to attend.

Image
I used the base robot from Silverbolt and grabbed some kibble from other bots and toys. Engine pieces do not transform as there is no way I could figure out how to attach and not overwhelm the chest. Threw in silver for the arms to break up the white and make paint repairs easier. Haven't painted the gun just yet, but will soon. Also gave him a drybrush treatment.
Image
Cheating on the tank mode a little (classifying it as a hover tank  If you don't like it... it's my fiction, deal.) Kept the jet as a flat black to simulate stealth coloring.

Edit: BTW thanks for the suggestion to whoever put it in my head about separating the jet. I'm sorry I don't remember who you are. :APPLAUSE:

Now imagine this with a real budget. Sigh.
