I just question why they went for a Sky Lynx retool period and not just make Silverbolt into Leozack. Beyond just shamelessly getting more uses out Sky Lynx there's absolutely no reason for it over ditching the most popular member of Liokaiser.

You answered your question: it is a shameless attempt....

However, I will be silent no longer, since Hasbro had chosen to show off this abomination at SDCC. I knew they were going with a Skylynx retool the moment the photo was shown on the Computron boxed set (and hoped they wouldn't) and my response to Hasbro is this: boycott.

I can only hope that TT sends Hasbro to 'school' again. Let's see a six-bot group, and, in separate packaging (no boxed sets). That way we can see a Deathcobra limb and other combiners like Landcross, Raiden, Sixtrain, (including the Dinobots and Dinoforce/Dinoking)...

If Hasbro wants to build a team of five, why not try Predacons/Predaking vs Anibots/Dragonbeast?

Arent you a bit overdramatic here? When it come to limited collectible repaints, they will NEVER make whole new molds just for that. At best, a new head. Years of Botcon and Collector Club should have teached you that. >:oP

That said, it's a shame that Predating, the Seacons, and other beast combiners were never done. Time and budjet I guess. Still, I have my hopes that one day, they'll bring back Combiner Wars and it will be the beasts's turn.

Fellbat? Why not Heckbat or Heflbat? #-o

Also Jaruga and Lyozack got axed. :-(

On the plus side, Liokaiser finally got his return. One of the best combiners from G1. :CON:

To avoid all direct references to Hell, obviously.

Were there distribution issues with Sky Lynx? I never found even one at any stores in my area.

He's a tail-ender. Tail-enders tend to be hard to find in stores.

Thank you, that was the term I was looking for. TFWiki has a great article on this phenomenon.

Stores like TRU did buy him though but many sold their stock to 6 market stores like Ross. So he is getting distributed, just differently.

If Takara even touch liokaiser it will be a boxed set and they'd have a lot more work on their hands to design two deluxe that could combine to form a torso. It's not out of the realm of possibility but it is highly improbable

Huh, seems cool.
Don't see how it'd be made over literally any other combiner but I'd buy it

I dont like seeing that dull grey on Takara's combiner peg and it in no way blends to give the illusion of a car front. Hasbro has this nice full colour use all around that I find fun. I love that purple. But both are really nice, its a good example of companies doing things differently rather than one giving us more than the other.

I know this is an older post, but wanted to comment.

I'd say the Takara Swindle's chest/torso does infact give a really nice impression of the front of a vehicle considering the mold and peg being there. Nothing I'd call "perfect", but that's really solid detail and paint apps.
You look at Hasbro's, and seeing the main tan-ish color on the inside surfaces next to the peg makes it look a little cheap. Or at least a bit unfinished.

But this is case where I wouldn't say Hasbro's looks bad.
In fact, I like all of Hasbro's Combaticons.

Seems like the majority of what I've read on here has Skylynx as an overall letdown. Which is too bad... I always hope that an updated version of a character who's long overdue for updating delivers and is something people are really happy with.

Is it just me or does it feel like CW is ending with a lame fizzle rather than a good bang of an outro?

No, it definitely did, with a bunch of weak-@$$ repaints no less - except that they mostly lacked paint apps, so they were just re_____

I don't know the business plans of a toyline... Meaning if/why/when stuff is on stand-by in-case it's so wildly popular that they can pull the trigger on those stand-by's and extend the life of the line...
But why wouldn't you plot it so that it's like a good song or movie where the start and finish are solid?
You know, the "leave them wanting more", not "leave them completely bored"...

I won't start my speculating, as I know some people here hate that...
But with MP Cheetor, my fingers are crossed we have some TF beasts in our future that freshen-up this whole scene of toys.
I personally wouldn't bet that the LK line will deliver that.

They almost had it with bruticus, and sky reign would have been awesome if the figures actually looked nice, and people would have loved ending with a nice sky lynx, but between the qc issues and the lack of nice paint apps and the generic repaints, they definitely ended on a wimper >:oP

It makes sense to me. The end of the toyline is when the hype has died down for it, and is generally when you want to shift the hype to the next toyline anyway. It makes sense to make the tail-end satisfying enough but not incredibly exciting so as to take the attention away from, in this case, Titans Return Wave 1.

Yeah, but ending on a high note can still build into the anticipation of whatever's next. Even if it is a different line.

Don't forget that tail-enders don't always come to retail. Recall how people were excited for DOTM Soundwave and Wheeljack (two relatively important characters in the movie) only to later see neither figure ever make it to U.S. retail due to their being released at the end of the line. You go out on a line too high, the worse the tail-ender syndrome stings.

Sky Lynx is a reasonably desirable figure yet his coming out at the line's end has already made him hard enough for people to find (many still haven't found him).

I was fortunate enough to happen uppon one at only 15$CAN + taxes. Guess I will never have the luxury to find another one to turn into The Big Purple Griffin.

Patience, possibly a raise based on the prices it's going for, and eBay.

Liokaiser doesnt seem to lack paint apps though, he just has the wrong ones

And while the CW line may be fizzling out, the UW line will end on a bang. I am saying it now, when all is said and done UW Computron will be hailed as the best product coming out of Combiner Wars. Thnk about it, it has the best torso, homages a true Scramble City combiner, has a uniform colour scheme (from burgundy to yellow), and mostly made of retools of all different molds.

Every time I see a picture of those giant drills I just want to yell out "Giga Drill Breaker!" And put on some awesome sun glasses. If computron comes out and I don't see any pictures of him doing the pose telling everyone he'll be the one to pierce the heavens, then I'll be disappointed.
