That's a ridiculously good deal; about as good as the OP vs. Megs for £30 one. RRP of all these figures combined would come to around 120, so for their Platinum release to drop to this? That's just fantastic.

It's very weird Arcee doesn't come with her guns, given the swords are something that only came into her character in 2007 and in the movie she uses guns. And, y'know, like on the boxart.

According to this review (I just found it while Googling so I can't speak to the veracity of the reviewer) Arcee comes with her guns in unpainted pink plastic: https://lmb3.net/2016/11/28/blog-1159-toy-review-transformers-platinum-edition-autobot-heroes-arcee-blurr-kup-springer-ultra-magnus/

I was very tempted by this set yesterday when it was $75. Honestly I run a daily search for "Transformers Platinum" on Amazon; if you're prepared to ride out the ups and downs you can get some crazy bargains.

Oh she does? Awesome! Easily paintable into black or silver or whatever. :D

It's also only $87 on Target.com. DISCOUNT RACE GO!!!!

It's too bad that this set came out around the same time as big name Masterpieces and a lot of good stuff in the world of video games. Not to mention new Blurr and Kup molds being available (with the paint job being one of the only flaws with the new Blurr).

To be fair the Blurr included in this set was the weak point given aside from the head he looks nothing like Blurr, and Kup... eh... the new one isn't quite a straight-up improvement.

Yeah if they'd waited a bit longer they could have ditched that crummy Drift Blurr and used the superior TR mold with Takara colours and ditched Kup (I just don't like that mold at all) and used the.. well not the TR one. The Legends one. But maybe they wanted to make some more money out of the older molds or something. I dunno how it all works.

This set was released last year and was supposed to be released before the TR toys came out. hence why it is all molds preceding TR.

Yeah I know that's why I said they could have waited. Seems like a missed opportunity anyway. Could have had a pack with Leader Magnus and Titans versions of Hot Rod, Kup and Blurr. And Generations Arcee oh and maybe chuck in that recent Titans Wheelie. I'm a lil torn on Springer. I do love that mold but if they could do a downscaled one to match the size of Hot Rod, Arcee and co I would like that. Though triple changing decent alt-modes is tricky enough at voyager so Deluxe I guess can be real headache. At least he traditionally uses the same cockpit area for both car and chopper though since his modes have never really been all that different to each other when compared to say Broadside or Blitzwing for example.

Still want me that Platinum Arcee to replace my regular Gen version

Our local Wolfman had a great protip for the TF community today in regards to the Autobot Heroes Set. While it was $84.99 on Amazon, two dollars cheaper than Target, Target has a $10 coupon, making the set only $76.99.

Greetings all - brand spanking new member to Seibertron here.

While you're pondering on the Autobot Heroes platinum set at Target.com, also consider getting the Conehead Seekers set because they too are $10 off with the "TOYS" promo code. Currently going for $69.99 - $10 = $59.99.

Woot! My order from Target was delivered this afternoon! Autobot Heroes Ultra Magnus is EXACTLY what I wanted. He looks absolutely fantastic with darker blue plastic and metallic blue paint highlights. The bright whites, deep reds, and added details really make this version outshine the original Hasbro mass market release during Combiner Wars. I know a lot of people went with the Takara version for very similar reasons, but this version is superior to me for it's use of white thighs instead of red for G1 screen accuracy and including Minimus Ambus instead of "Alpha Trion."

Everything else in the set is inferior to a version I already have of that exact figure, or the molds have now become outdated altogether, like Blurr and soon Kup. I'll be looking to sell off the extras. It was all well worth it just for Ultra Magnus, though. He's easily the star of this Platinum Edition set. If you can get it for around $80, and especially if you want some of the other characters in the set to fill in gaps in your collection (they're all good figures, just not the best of all options, in my opinion), buy this set!

I'm glad to hear that Ultra Magnus is good in this set. My UM (Hasbro domestic release) had very distinctly different shades of white plastic between the two panels on the front of his cab, which made his truck mode look pretty funky.

As for the rest of the set, I don't really care about Springer or Kup, I'm just going to pretend Blurr is someone else, and I love that Arcee mold so much that I can't complain about getting two different versions.

Photobucket being dicks, I'll just upload stock photos.

After I got rid of my Henkei Optimus Prime last year and Henkei Megatron 2 days ago, I finally opened my Optimus VS Megatron set.

I was lucky enough to have found the set at Winners for just 40$CAN plus taxes. A steal.

Image

Optimus Look very nice but miss a few painted details. Still, the mold is a solid one and the clear blue of the arms kibbles work very well in robot mode. Look like energon shields or something. Clever.

As for Megatron's bot mode, one reason why I got rid of the Henkei (appart the money) was that he's boring. Too boring. But the platinum one is a "Fireguts" Megatron. All that red make him look enraged. Especially the clear red wings that look more like a fiery aura than actual kibble. Even the safety orange on top of the barrels don't look out of place. For me, it's the best looking Classic voyager Megs to date.

Image
Forgetting to flip up Optimus's kneecaps and Meg's toes. A classic!

As for the altmode, Optimus suffer from the clear blue panels. Appart the obvious odd color patern of the truck, it's TOO clear, making the truck look like it don't have any engine. Also, the roof shield don't sit flush and the back hinge that hold it is a bit floppy. I call mold degradation. It's what, the over 9000th repaint of that Optimus alreay? I'm still glad to have it back though. Especially for barely above 20$CAN.

Megatron look odd as an all red gun, but it work surprisingly well. More than the "Nerf" original. Look like it dont shoot bullets but insead, it just shoot PURE RAGING HATRED at the targets. I LOVE it!

Image

Should you buy it at the 100$+ price many ask? Hell no. Especially if you already own the molds. But if you come across it for dirt cheap at Winners, TJ Max, Walgreen or any such place, it would be MADNESS to not pick one up. But only take one for yourself. Don't be a scalper ass, please.

Even as a vocal opponent of Megatron as a gun, I do like how the Classics Megs mold looks. The wings are cool and he looks properly imposing.

Care to elaborate? Because it's the original design. Maybe because it throw scale out the window and by itself it's a very lame and useless mode?

Personally, I prefer Megs as a tank. The best Megs for me being the CW Leader. Especially with the Reprolabels.

Pretty much. If he had a minion who turned into a gun I could understand, but the leader of the Decepticons turnbing into something that needs to be used by someone else to be of any value at all is just dumb. Oh yes, Megatron, entrust your alt mode's usefulness to your lackeys- Starscream won't crush you in his bare hands, no siree! Most trustworthy guy in the world! Also I don't like size changing so there's that.
