Sky Lynx is an OK mold. the combiner hips are kinda weak and his posability isn't amazing, but he's still a pretty fun mold. I enjoy using him as a mount for other figures.

Oh and his Sky Reign head is fantastic. golden lion head!

It's because he was a tail-ender that barely made it to normal retail brick-and-mortar stores.

Is there something I miss in his gestalt shoulders? They just don't lock into place in any way, if you try to move his combiner limb the whole shoulder on mine just flops around. I love almost everything else about him though.

No, you're not missing anything. They just don't lock in anywhere.

Yeah, that is one of the main weaknesses of the Sky Lynx mold. The combiner shoulders are pretty loose

I consider it added butterfly shoulder articulation

I took my lion head apart to try and custom a face in the maw Voltron style but kinda gave up on it. I like him mostly just as a Skylynx in the background of the CW/TR/PotP display.

Time to bring another old thread back from the dead.

This is kind of random and weird, but for anyone who missed out on Combiner Wars and/or is looking for a few extra limbs, BBTS has the Combiner Wars Wave 6 deluxes as both a set of 4 and individually up for pre-order(?!?).

Wave 6 has the Sky Reign limbs, right? Wheeljack, Hound, Trailbreaker and RatchetSmokescreen?

Greetings All.... So, I'm looking ahead to the future, by culling figures from the past to keep my grand master Combiner Plan as in tact as possible.

I know that many of the legends class figures were designed as weapons and accessories for combiners, and many were not. Fortunately resourceful fans have fan-moded many of them.

*If* someone were ever to get a proper Modulus, what are your opinions on a fitting 6th member? I was thinking maybe Warpath? (as he is basically the last CW Legends Autobot unused by me), but there may be some from TAV or the PotP line I'm not thinking of.

Same question for Selects God Neptune what about CW Chopshop?

Only problem I could see with chop shop would be colors, but if you're prepared to customise it could work...

Playing around Victorion and finally applying her labels after holding on them for so long kinda sparked my interest in CW again. And the recent Select Seacons were scratching that itch too.

Now I need to apply the labels on my CW Defensor after sitting on them for around FIVE freaking years.

And then, I'll buy G1 Bruticus from my local TF store that will finally be allowed to reopen. I'll go there with my CW obsessed friend and he may binge on used stuff. Finally, when Japan Posts will manage to "unlock", I'll be able to import the UW Bruticus set from Mandarake. My friend may double-binge with UW Megatronia and maybe UW Bruticus as well. We will split the shipping cost then.

@Kanrabat

You're really lucky to have a local friend with the same passion as you to order packages with! I'm in the same boat with you guys. Really loved the CW sets and have been sulking, waiting for the remaining characters (Seacons, Dinoking, Monstructor, etc.)

Megatronia is beautiful! Lots of retooling and a beautiful color scheme. Have to highly recommend that one. UW Bruticus also has some satisfying changes (like the retooled propellor blades). Even better if you can track down the upgrade feet that match his colors, but that's tough now. :^Z

I'd recommend Baldigus (Ruination) over Bruticus. But... I was also able to snag the TR Scourge/Nemesis Prime to go with him for RiD 2000/Car Robots love.

I'll second Baldigus over Bruticus. The extra guns are really nice and the gold color really pops.

If you keep following all our advice, you're going to have a collection of all the weird non-TV guys! Ha ha ha. I guess it depends on how much attachment you have to the characters (and money). I do agree that Baldigus looks fantastic.

*edit* oops. I almost forgot the old RID cartoon since it's not been released on DVD here. I keep naming the non-TV guys, but Baldigus was indeed in a cartoon.

Seeing you guys talk about it, there are a few Unite Warriors sets I regret not trying to get (I also didn't really have the money to pursue Unite Warriors when it was out), mainly the Ruination set and the Grand Galvatron set. I also regret not getting Computron, but I still think I got a pretty good one, The Scattorshot retooling and Nosecone parts being my only real regrets there.

If I had that Ruination set, and if I had gotten Scourge, I *think* I would have a full RiD2001 cast already for the cons

Yeah, that Grand Galvatron set is such a cool idea. And the Cyclonus paint job is a thing of beauty.

I still don't know why they didn't issue a set of seeker combiners since they had the mold. I'd have jumped to add Starscream, Thundercracker, Skywarp and Hotlink (the lavender guy) to a torso.

Yeah, there were only six Decepticons (Combatrons in Car Robots) since they were just a Predacon subfaction in that series.

It's too bad :TAKARATOMY: or :HASBRO: could not be convinced to create replica packaging (especially UW style) for some teams that were never sold as a set. I mean I see those sets as a win/win. You can display the toys any way you want, and if you want to put them back in the packaging you can, the window box/front art is just a packaging design that cant be beat IMHO.

I'd seen a couple fan box/packaging creations for random toys at conventions in the past, but really nothing to sell in the mass market. Considering empty UW Boxes can sell for $20-$30 alone, I'd say it could be a worthwhile endeavor. I'd love to have UW styled boxes for Thunder Mayhem, Wreckage, Volcanicus, Abominus, King Poseidon etc...

They probably don't make replica packaging since they know that a lot of people (probably more than there are those who display packaging) just throw away the packaging after removing the items inside.

Overquoting to say anyone like me who is annoyed by empty box sellers on eBay? I mean, I can understand for a vintage genuine G1 box. But Siege? Studio Series? Random CHUG? Really? And those boxes cost as much to ship as the whole brand new set too.

WHAT'S THE POINT?

Maybe someone threw the packaging away and is having regrets? ...But I was not speaking of those. UW Packaging specifically is highly sought after from what I've seen. I'm so glad I kept all mine. I'd imagine Titan packaging is, albeit to a lesser degree, as well. I do kind of regret tossing my boxes for Fort Max and Trypticon (I have kept all the others), but not enough to go back and purchase just the empty boxes again. I'd definitely purchase a UW eHobby Grand Scourge Box (since mine came loose), and I was fortunate to get it complete with all accessories for a decent price, I cant imagine trying to get one now.
