So, Star Convoy then.

First impressions, he isn't bad. The head, shoulders, legs, and matrix are really nice, I like those parts of the retooling. Not too hot on the stickers or the chest piece though, that piece feels really weak and I'm a bit scared of it. He's not bad, but he's not great either

Pretty much sums up the base mold, itself. :P

I think they honestly dropped the ball picking this mold for Star Convoy, which is why I skipped it despite previously clamoring for one.

Is he worth the money or woyld it be better spent elsewhere?

Chances are it was Star Convoy that was chosen for the mold, not the other way around. Like:

"Any ideas how we can use the PotP Optimus Prime tooling further?"
"Hmmm, it uses the evolution concept of Orion Pax into Convoy, why not take it further to Star Convoy?"

That btw, is what should have been done in the first place.

Had TR Powermaster Prime not been done, I think the 'Leader Evolution' would have worked best for Powermaster Prime/Super Ginrai.

So far, I would say better spent elsewhere.

I really wanted him to go with my Japanese G1 Bots, but if you don't have that kind of connection, I wouldn't say he is worth it.

Alt mode is still ugly, and I had a problem with the stickers sticking and then warping and it destroyed the one long front trailer sticker applying it. My fault, but it was a bit more difficult than I anticipated.

The deluxe sized Prime is pretty cool, and I love the yellow eyes and Action master styled look, but he feels a bit weaker in person than I had thought he would? Like he feels like a downgrade from Orion, despite how much I want to enjoy an Action Master Prime homage.

The main robot is really cool, and the paint work, head sculpt, shoulders, and legs are fantastic. The chest windows should have been retooled, no reason why they couldn't have been to be more accurate. and the problem with the star is you have to sort of unclick the chest bot to lock it into place. I see why many have snapped: you cannot have the smaller Prime locked into the chest and the star locked in at the same time, one has to be slightly unclipped.

He is ok, he needed some more work. He's worth it if you have the attachment or the desire or the love of the head sculpt. But outside of that, I'd say you're good buying the next wave of Studio Series instead

Peaugh mentions in his review something about flipping one piece around to make the star fit in the place properly.

Now one we haven't heard from in a while (and hopefully is still in the work) is his counterpart: Super Megatron which is oddly enough a Voyager. Makes me wonder if there is some planned Ultra Megatron somehow in the work which would be a bit redundant mind you. But still...

I mean, I could totally see that working. But I can't really see them producing two figures for such obscure versions of a character that didn't get toys in the first place

I know, but its weird Megatron gets just a Voyager and Optimus has a Leader. But what do I know?

Don't get me wrong, this is Takara we're talking about. They are the kings and queens of surprising the fans. I mean, who would have thought we'd get a full Piranacon that had a full size deluxe as the Targetmaster? Or even MP Raiden (unless I missed something new)? There is distinctly the possibility of us getting both version of Megatron. I'm probably just looking at this from the perspective of "Hasbro tends to only give us recognizable versions of the big name characters" so I might be wrong

Megatron is a big-name villain in either territory for sure, but compared to heroes in Tokusatsu for instance, villains hardly ever get note-worthy upgrades unless they are really big with the fans, bigger than what would be justified for even a cameo in a sequel series. He's a big name, but also a big risk, so Super Megatron could be viewed as a stepping stone to an Ultra one later.

Super Megatron interest me because even with Siege Optimus, I still got the TR Optimus and Megatron which I quite like as well as Galvatron, who I think was a decent mold which deserved a second chance. I'd be really down to add Super Megatron to that set and then try to wrap around my head for all the headcanon needed to explain this.

Plus in all honesty I just really, really dig Super Megatron.

I really dig Super Megatron too, and we are long overdue for news on him and Armada Prime.

I think we'll see some news February 8th. I think that's when Wonderfest is anyway. But honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it was just Earthrise reveals or something. Though, wouldn't it be a shock if we saw them tease a repaint of the new Scorponok figure as Black Zarak?

Yeah Black Zarak seems a given.

I'm still of the opinion that Powermaster Prime from Titans Return would have made a better starting point for Star Convoy.

More images of Optimus and Star Convoy. I am enjoying the little Action Master Prime more now, and I am appreciating the detail put into the fake robot torso area. And he looks fairly good with the larger rifle, just the sort of large gun for an Action Master that I like.

The torso clicked together for Star Convoy mode better too this time around. I really like the aesthetic of the figure, I love the Star Convoy look and especially any figure that uses a head like his.

enjoying it more. alt mode is still troublesome, but robot modes are still really nice

Thanks to friend of the site Thannak, we have news for you regarding a hard to find Generations Selects figure. Transformers Generations Selects Lancer, the final component needed for the combiner Orthia following the release of Elita-1, Greenlight, Novastar, and Moonracer, is now back in stock at Hasbro Pulse for the deluxe class pricepoint of $19.99. Stock will be limited as per usual, so if you still need this figure, you had better jump fast!

Lancer is a new head retool of Greenlight, who herself is a retool of the Moonracer and Novastar. She is the final component of Orthia, and has been available intermittently at both Hasbro Pulse and site sponsors. You can use the link HERE to go to the Hasbro Pulse page and place your order.

Let us know if you succeed in scoring this Selects figure below!

Finally got my in stock notice from BBTS for Lancer. What a frustrating ordeal it's been for me getting this figure. It's gonna be a good day when she shows up at my front door.

:MAXIMAL:

You know what's frustrating, Hasbro sent my Star Convoy to the wrong address, then the people living there, gave it back to Fed Ex saying it wasn't theirs. (on a Saturday no less)

I called Fed Ex as soon as their customer service opened and they told me it was already on the truck back and there was nothing they could do about it. Since when was fed ex that efficient?

Then I called Hasbro Pulse's Customer Service, and they told me they could give me a refund, but since it was a limited pre-order they did not have any in stock to send to me. (Now what's dumb is that also means they apparently didn't get extras in case of damages)

When I asked about just turning it around and re sending it when they got it back, they said they weren't set up to do that. WTF

I actually am in charge of shipping at the company I work for. We've done that before here. It's not difficult.

How's that for frustrating?
