Video Review - Transformers Adventure/Robots in Disguise Bumblebee, Ninja Sideswipe

PostPosted: Wed Jun 24, 2015 2:11 am

Fellow Seibertronian chuckdawg1999 brings us another video review, this time with some comparisons between the Robots in Disguise and Adventure line for Bumblebee, plus Ninja Sideswipe from the later One-Step line. Check out the many decos in the clip below, and head over here for more Takara Tomy Transformers Adventure discussion, too!

With a much better paint job and clearer instructions, Takara's take on the One-Step figures are really good. it's a tough choice between the Adventure version and Hasbro's Night-Ops version of Bumblebee since both decos are fantastic. Ninja Sideswipe looks good but the "Butterfly" transforming style is getting a bit old at this point.

In hand images for Transformers Robots in Disguise (2015) minicons and bonus energon figure

Minicons seem to be the next big (or rather small) thing coming our way from the Robots in Disguise line since we are getting more and more pictures of them. Below you will find some in hand images of the initial wave of individually packaged minicons, all from Autobase Aichi (which has a ton more photos for those who want more).
Also included in the pictures is a pretty cool feature we are finally getting a look at: the energon bonus figures.
Ever since Toy Fair 2015, it was revealed that the clear accessories could be combined to form two figures and we now have our first look at them. It is only two accessories from each figure though, so the resulting "energon minicons" are quite small. The accessories from the first wave of decepticon and autobot minicons give a lion while the second wave gives a shark. Which do you prefer? And does this excite you more to get them? It is also a nice confirmation that one does not need to buy the Deployer figure to obtain the pieces to build these figures since that accompanying minicon does not figure in the combination.

Ah, the bonus figures are made from the accessories. How did I miss that? How fun are these guys going to be?

Do these guys peg in to any of the other bots or do they just interact with the deployers?

Oh, to answer your question: team shark, all the way!

The figures require parts from both Autobot and Decepticon. The shark's lateral fins come from Slipstream, an Auto or, but the Lion's head and abdomen come from him as well.

Edit: Nevermind, Beastbox provides the side fins, but the point still stands. Each wave makes one figure.

Oh all right, and thus each wave is 4 figures each.

Yeah, the shark is way better. And yes they do plug into other toys:

So they are taking a "gotta catch them all" strategy. That's cool with me because they had me at "hey check these lil guys out."

Oh yeah, I forgot about that big guy. Thanks, Will.

Always a pleasure :)

One thing though, these dont seem to articulate much but I guess we all figures as much. I am really impressed at how these are cheaper than the legion toys.

The Mini-Cons can also attach to Super Bumblebee, but that's it. Just four figures (the two Deployers, Mega OP, and Super BB).

I was out if town last week, so I'm way behind the curve. What is the retail on these guys? The legions retail here for $5.99.

I have only heard good things. Everything fits tightly together, the articulation is good, and he is in perfect scale if ever you want to collect the rest of the line.

I have yet to hear a bad thing about him. He looks like a cool little dude and He fits perfectly in scale since he is a legends toy and in the show he is a minicon. :BOT:

I really like how the accessories fit on both the deployed robot and the initial disk/torpedo modes. These are very nice for how little they cost. And I am so extatic that I dont need to buy those deployers to get the bonus figures. Good job hasbro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I understand that these are more or less stylistically updated TFC cassette bots, but I feel like these have way more personality and hide their limitations better in their aesthetic choices. Plus I need me an energon shark!

Fixit is awesome. He has great posability for his size, hell, he just has great posability.

I get a Rung vibe from his face too. But more than that, he is like a robot ET on wheels.

Those mini-cons are a lot more appealing now that we can see them properly transformed and posed. Still not interested in the Deployers, though.

I also love things that come on sprues and can be assembled. I used to love those snap-together model kits when I was a kid.

I really like the new minicons. May not be as fond when I get one in hand, but do love them.

Also, Wall-E is robot ET, limited vocabulary and all, imho. But if there were no wall-e, I agree he would be similar to Fixit, although Fixit is not quite as cutesy.

First sightings for Transformers Robots in Disguise Minicons and First Images for exclusive 3 Steps

BIG NEWS for Robots in Disguise fans! We have the very first north american sighting of both the Minicons AND the 5 step Megatronus toy. This seems fast considering we just got the first in hand pics of the minicons today.

But better than that, we also have sightings of Clash of the Transformers 3 step Optimus and Bumblebee. These are the very first images of 3 step Optimus and Bumblebee Clash of the Transformers (COTF) TRU exclusives. These came out of nowhere. The megatronus is also a Toysrus exclusive figure.

These were found in Canada by the newest addition to the Canadian sightings team TRozok21, and they will surely find their way to the US soon (if not already).
