Uh...who's Erector? And why do I wanna make pervy fun of his name, all of a sudden?

Overcracker wrote:As for Red Alert's minicon, I doubt they'd go to the trouble of naming the little guy.

Good point.

I agree. It's like Overcracker said though; why would they go to the trouble of naming the little guy? Besides...I'm pretty sure duplicate names have been done without one of the figures being a repaint or "reformat" of the other character.

Yeah, go for it MOJO!

What about Beast Machines?

Besides Kup, BM's deluxe Jetstorm is my favorite figure, and as repetitive as repaints get, it's been a few years since they hit that one up for a repaint. Not that I'm trying to put any ideas into anyones heads. (If I was, I'd push harder for headmasters.)

And I'd still pass on Mudflap. I mean...good for those who missed him, but like I said to begin with: If I couldn't be bothered to begin with, why am I gonna be bothered now?

Surely those awful colours will change your mind!

I hate being a completist collector when they do stuff like this.

Damn, I was so excited to see this thread title...
And of course they're freakin' repaints.
Imo, the bot modes are WEAK...
"Inferno's" arms, legs, and head look stupid.
"Mudflaps" whole bot look appears to have been designed by a 4th grader...

I'm getting Premium Jazz, Deep Space Starscream, and then I'm never looking back at the Movie line.
(unless I decide to go back for seconds with a few I already own.
But if Animated comes out early, that ain't gonna happen).

Argh...I'm torn. This Mudflap repaint is sooooo close to being a great G1 Grapple. I have a Cyb Mudflap waiting to be repainted to be Grap, but now I am debating. Buy this one, accept that it's yellow instead of orange, and repaint the head black - or stick to my original plan. Hmmm, decisions, decisions, decisions. :-?

Good thing I have absolutely no interest in Animated. I might have to look at these.

They shoulda just stuck Mudflap into Universe as Erector. More people would buy Classics Erector than this drizzle that is the dying gasps of the Movie line.

I hate that they named him Inferno. I have Superlink Inferno :D :D

But it's a decent paint job.

Mudflap is just plain ugly

Mudflap's crane mold wasn't exactly the most stable mold (with problems connecting the arms and legs together with the crane head and driver's compartment).

I'd get him and replace the old Mudflap... Only to give him the Autobot insignias and partner him with Longarm. He reminds me of G1's Grapple.

wow. this is only the 2nd repaint (i think) of armada red alert. such a low number of repaints for a figure.

I gotta say this again. I think Mudflap looks more like Hauler than Grapple. Sure he was only in the first of G1 episode for like 5 seconds and the only toy of him every made was that color blind green E-Hobby repaint from a few years ago. But damb it, he's yellow! In the show he was a yellow crane, not green, YELLOW! Grapple is orange. Inferno is red. Artfire is red and white. And Hauler is yellow.

Not to nit pic.

Having grown up around heavy equipment, I'll buy Mudflap just on general principle but I didn't like the Red Alert mold the first few times around and it just isn't getting any better no matter what color it's painted. The arms and legs just are not in proper proportion to the chest. Can't stand to have a Transformer that reminds me of an ex-girlfriend. (Yeah, I know, I'm crass but at least I own up to it)

3rd, but who's counting?

I like these, they are different enough from every other release of these toys that I like them already.

but why can't they do better paint apps for Longarm? seriously, that Mini-Con suffers every release...

Meh, I hate armarda so I'll pass on Inferno but I may get Mudflap.

Strange they are reusing the mold's name like that, I would have liked him done in yellowy-orange with black stripes, silver trim and named Grapple :D

Didn't they do that with Wing Saber too? I think some of the Target basics used the original names too.

For obvious reasons, I can see why they didnt officially name this mudflap repaint Erector, but the original Erector was awesome and I will be reprolabeling mudflap as Classics Erector and displaying him as such.

As for Inferno, sorry, but not a firetruck = not inferno.

Energon inferno is still a better candidate as a classics standin.

Like the Inferno/Red Alert but like the original Mudflap color scheme better. Maybe the yellow will grow on me or i'll just rename him Grapple or Hauler!
