Thanks for posting this fix, CP. I fixed both my ROTF and Energon version. It was pretty easy. Can't wait to get the add on set from FansProject.

If you still have yet to find them I would resort to (or at least attempt in an effort to not have a screwed up toy) cannibalizing a click action pen and start snipping the spring. The smaller the pen diameter the better considering the size of those posts. Anybody else with a better or more detailed cheap solution please jump in. I'm part Redneck so I don't always have the precision fixes off the top of my head but I can usually come up with something workable pretty darn fast.
I don't have my Stormjet easily accessible so I can't be more specific on ideas about that spring size.

*Doesn;t know what the springs look like* If you have a hobby shop near you, and I mean a good one, you might go back to the trains section, and look into the springs used for couplers, probably HO or O scale, I wouldn't go larger, they might be small enough to fit. We model railoaders are not unfamiliar with springs going PWOING!! at the site of a screw driver and fresh air... Take Silverbolt in with you, they can probably hook you up.

Quick and easy fix, thanks!
I never realized that there was a mistake in the pieces' assembly, but now that I followed your steps on my Energon Stormjet I can see a vast improvement in what the designers originally intended.
Gonna go get my Energon Superion Maximus now and do the same, since I display one set separate and one set combined.

Okay, so I tried the fix on Energon Stormy, but the legs sdidn't want to seperate right off, and I really didn;t want to push it too hard and break something, like his knee guard. It was acting like they bonded the plastic. ANd yes, I did try a flathead run along the side seams

Picked this guy up today in my local Conways ToyMaster (for all of about £20 to!!) I'll have to perform this mod tomorrow, Storm Jet's (or Silverbolt) leg assembly error is very noticeable right out of the box.. and this is the first version of this mold that I've owned.

Thanks for the guide guys!!

How in the world, exactly, am I supposed to separate the two pieces of his lower legs? They just won't pry open! Any advice?

Each lower leg has 2 screws that need to be removed.

Once that is done, the leg halves should come apart easily.

The peg into the Knee mechanism so it may be slightly tight. But you shouldn't need too much force to do it.

Seconded.. I eventually got round to fixing my Storm Jet/Silverbolt and the difference is phenominal!! Curious though.. in vehicle mode its almost like the legs are a little big for the space they fit in.. they make the arm/shoulder mounts bow out slightly. Is this just mine or is it a more common problem?

Again.. thank you to Counterpunch and Overcracker for this!

Now to await the upgrade set from FansProjects :P

Well would you look at that... 5 minutes with a tiny screwdriver and I don't hate his robot mode anymore. Thanks for posting this with all the photos!

The lower legs are so hard to separate from the pins. I give up.

You aren't unscrewing the leg halves and then separating.

Look close, each leg has two screws in it.

I got my ROTF Superion in the mail from target yesterday. Wow, the colors scheme on those guys are soo awesome. Kinda makes me want to keep'em in individual bot modes when the limbs do come int. Anywho, I'll be doing this mod tonite.

Thanks CP, you daffy bastard you!

Hey bud, thanks for this. I'd kinda forgotten how to go about the fix and I was avoiding doing it. Just finished and man, I still don't care for this guy lol. On the upside, the decos on them are all pretty neat and the add-on is coming soon. Now if only there was room in my case for improved Superion and eventually Bruticus.

Thanks for this... I tried it when it was first posted a couple of weeks ago, but completely missed the little screws in the back of the leg, and kept trying to separate the halves with a craft knife :)

All sorted now, though :)

Allo folks. Cheers for this, vast improvement, but did anyone work out a way to fix the stupid waist/nose peg issue? I have my Fansproject kit and it really is the ONLY downer on the whole figure for me right now....
