If you're gonna pay more than voyager price (plus maybe cheap shipping), then he's not worth it. He's a pretty good voyager figure, but his alt mode is hot garbage and definitely not worth $50.

As for Jetfire, he might be worth CC price, due to his size and mass, but his transformation is underwhelming and he only looks good from the top in alt mode. So depending on your standards, he might not be worth it either (wasn't for me), but I'm in the extreme minority on this one. Of course, due to his overhype, his price now is outrageous.

How come his altmode is bad? You do have the option to make the traditional gun, I mean, "submarine", and the ship mode looks like one of those classic anime epic battleship. Plus the fact that you can make many configurations and the accessories can be a surfboard make it more worth it than Ultra Magnus IMO.

Still, I'm sture anyone can find it at leader price or cheaper, INCLUDING shipping.

Well, it's no longer in store now, but at the time there were lots.

If you don't care for "cartoon accuracy" you can still get the super cool looking gray version, Galactic Man Shockwave at normal leader price plus free shipping at Amazon.com.

Yeah... I regret not picking him up when he was on store shelves, but I was always hesitant to do so because his alt mode was so blah in my opinion. Yeah, I'm not a fan of the galactic man Deco.... Thanks though!

I just think it's something that was an afterthought for the designers. They couldn't make his alt mode out of him in voyager size, so they upped him to leader to give him the extra stuff, and he still turned out bad. I understand that he can't have a straight up space cannon mode, because it resembles too much like a gun even if it's purple. But they could have done better than what we got. The whole upside down or submarine thing is just a bandaid on a gunshot wound. I do think the parts make a good platform for him in robot mode, it reasons that Shockwave would use something like that. But to me that figure will always stay in robot mode and I'll just pretend he is a space cannon.

Plus he never transformed in the Netflix series, so I think that was another reason the designers just threw something together for the alt mode. They knew it didn't have to be accurate to anything.

I guess... they could have easily done some sort of laser canon/artillery ala Galvatron... Hell, the Legacy version's transformation and alt mode looks better... if only he were voyager scale.... dunno what's with the core size of Shockwave lately [Bumblebee SS and Legacy]...

Yeah I'm still holding faint hope that we get a new voyager or even leader Shockwave in the last part of the new trilogy.

I like the WFC Shockwave's robot mode, even if I wish he was just a bit taller and bulkier. I always thought Shockwave should be equal to or a bit larger than Megatron in upper body at least.

Well the WFC trilogy was very underwhelming, so I can't blame them. The story, directing and voice performances were all subpar. We just got some good toys out of it.

You're not wrong... It was pretty underwhelming... Feels like the last good series was Prime? I'm not hopeful for Earthspark. I did like the WFC's portrayal of Megatron as somewhat introspective [spoilers] where he talked to his dead foe's head and had a PTSD-like flashback at one point.

It felt like it could have been sooo much better with a bigger budget. I mean, I consider the intro cinematics for the War and Fall of Cybertron games and intro the Bumblebee movie to be the best Transformers "movies". I'd love to see more of that. :-\

Yeah and better performances. But to stay on topic, it was obvious with the Scorponok character that he was just there to sell the Titan figure. I get why he was part of the story, but making him a nobody who turns into an almost mindless beast in scorpion mode was a waste of a potentially great character. The Titan figure was pretty good, with 1 flaw. His face should have been the same color as the headmaster's body, instead of the silver we got.

I am. For one thing, it's actually allowing Optimus Prime to frigging sass again. It promises to be a punchier show that doesn't take itself too seriously, which I think is something badly needed in stuff aimed at older fans.

I think they could have done better with the budget they had, they just needed to use it better. Granted, I've only seen SIEGE. But based on that...
On the story side of things, it needed to be more accessible. SIEGE assumes you've already seen the original G1 cartoon and have a familiarity with the IDW stuff, and that in general you're already an invested fan. It does very little to truly introduce you to the world and the war and get you hooked based on its own merits. Given the ineptitude shown with the Prime Wars machinima, Hasbro should proooobably have found people to replace DeSanto and the Rooster Teeth chuckleheads
On the action side of things, Polygon Pictures needed to watch Cybertron as a course on doing dynamic, nimble action with blocky, chonky bodies.

Of course, it might also have been better to do "Wings of Honor but better and more scope" than yet another new G1 'verse (that goes for the comics too).

Mkdlmr wrote:I mean, I consider the intro cinematics for the War and Fall of Cybertron games and intro the Bumblebee movie to be the best Transformers "movies". I'd love to see more of that. :-\
Those are largely just action sequences with a small modicum of narration, aren't they? I don't think that would actually make a good full series or film.

Back to general questions: Any thoughts on Jetfire, Sky Lynx and Rodimus?

I see I can pre-order the former two as reissues... I actually picked up Rodimus pretty cheap recently, but I'm not sure if I want to keep him considering I already have Hot Rod and that's a pretty solid figure...

Rodimus is excellent. He's an entirely different beast to Hot Rod.

Rodimus is really well done. I would suggest you experience him. He's a really good toy. Transformation is involved but satisfying It does some interesting bits with the engineering.

He's very solid in both modes. The Trailer adds to his character, but I'm sure if they released the car portion without the trailer at Leader price it would fly off the shelves anyway. He's really really good, and totally different thing to Hot Rod.

I love both equally.

Rodimus Prime is not the same character as Hotrod. Get him.

As for Jetfire and Skylinx, get both now! Both are excellent and you have the chance to pay normal retail for them. Do not miss your chance.

Thanks for the advice! Both are pre-ordered!

I guess I'll keep Rodimus even though he's far from my favorite character...

I've been thinking about picking up Scorponok even though he doesn't have much meaning for me.

I already have the following titans though:

G1 Fortress Maximus (my precious...)
Omega Supreme
Devastator (Takara FTW)
Trypticon (also Takara because they were priced the same when I bought him)
The Ark
Does 2010 Takara Unicron count? Really wished I backed the haslab...

Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is I think I have plenty as is and I'm already running out of room while trying to squeeze in two commander class figures. When is enough enough?

The important thign to know about larger Trabnsformers is to distinguish the difference between the term "Titan" within Transformers ficion, and the Hasbro term "Titan Class" for selling a toy. Setimes both are tryue (Metroplex, Trypticon, Fort Max etc...) and sometimes they aren't.

Metroplex under the Thrilling 30 line in 2013/2014 was the first Hasbro toy specifically sold under the term "Titan Class". Even though the original Fort Max is as big, those toys never really had classes per se. Also every Unicron from Armada and all its repoants/retools I think are called "Supreme" class, but I may be mistaken.

Anyway, here are the actual "Titan Class" toys:

2013 Metroplex
2015 Devastator
2016 Fortress Maximus
2017 Trypticon
2018 Predaking
2018 Grand Maximus (TT Exclusive)
2019 Omega Supreme
2020 Scorponok
2021 Autobot Ark
2022 Black Zarak (Hasbro Pulse Selects Exclusive)
2022 Legacy Cybertron Metroplex

Haslab Unicron again, while BIGGER than Titans, is pretty much in its own class, probably wont ever be replicated unless Hasbro does a Haslab Primus/Cybertron. (which somehow I dont think will happen any time soon)

Ikea cabinets are nice, though I feel like we've had this conversation before. I gave you the dimensions for a custom wooden shelf I made which fits 8 Titans (4 top and 4 bottom). It has no glass so yeah they need to be dusted, but glass cabinets if that size can get really expensive.

Yep, it's coming back to me... Yea... I want to avoid dusting as much as I can. I actually bought some acrylic and cut it to make "half deep" shelves in front of the titan class figures' chests as well as additional shelving, held up by chrome binder clips. The shelves are bending a bit, so I have thicker acrylic sheets on order. Still, no room for another titan. :-P

Ha ha ha, yeeeaaa....

I buy them and then give them to the wife to gift to me at a later date. Currently in the queue (no specific order):

Rodimus Prime (kingdom)
Shockwave (siege)
Hound (siege)
Blaster (kingdom)
Jetfire (siege, preordered)
Sky Lynx (earthrise, preordered)

She also bought me the funko pop Unicron as a surprise, but I found out about it... Dunno how I feel about it... :-P

Just a hint for the forum.
When you talk about a specific TOY, please mention from what line it's from. Especially in a "general" thread. Because there's 10 versions of Blaster, 4 versions of Omega Supreme, 30 versions of Jetfires, all from so many different lines, generations, classes, and so on.

As for Unicron, IMO the "best" one is the Amazon/Platinum Unicron. But your 2010 Takara one is pretty damn awesome as well for a "G1" Unicron.

I recommend that you get a non-official stand for the planet mode. It will make him look glorious and menacing.

The best one ever was the Throne of Chaos. Made entirely of clear plexiglass and damn solid:

Unfortunately, it has been discontinued since years and years.
I found a stand on eBay but it looks like the planet is floating on top of itself and it's weird.
