Technically the Primal redeco counts as a BWII entry, as he appears in those colors in the Movie.

Okay, let's address both of these at once!

RE: G2 - Puzzler that one :???: Completely blanked on G2 Bee. Sideswipe was the only one that came to mind.

RE: Beast Wars - What I said was entirely correct. I said: "Four characters into Season One. 4 of 14. Plus one redeco". Optimus Primal, Cheetor, Dinobot, Megatron: The four characters of Season One. Shadow Panther is the one redeco that was not a part of the series. I did specify character, not toy. Repaints of those characters would also be inclusive in that descriptive.

RE: "End of G1" - The Masterpiece Collection, is mostly based on toys that accompanied other media. Technically G2 even counts in that by proxy, due to the awfully "rebranded" Sunbow repeats.

So for the purposes of that MP line mandate, I would draw the line for G1 at Zone, the last canonical series.

You'll note I skipped out Machine Wars (1997) from my list earlier for that very reason.

The inclusion of the Movie characters in the MP line (of which I do completely forget even exist) are purely because they are Multi-million making movies. Strike while the iron is hot, and all that.

Just wanted to chime in on this thread, since I've been kind of negative about other Masterpiece figures of late. Beast Wars Megatron looks amazing. I can't wait to own this figure and I can't wait to see the redeco or remold opportunities!

So far I'd say the Beast Wars MP Collection have been the best figures I've seen from HasTak within this line to date. Even Cheetor, who I didn't really care for at first, has grown on me. Optimus Primal and Megatron alone look practically perfect.

If you look back, right around MP Magnus/Hot Rodimus/Shockwave was where the cartoon look really started to set in, and that is when Seibs started getting disappointed. I've watched the figures get more cartoon driven and Seibertron get more and more frustrated with the direction since

Personally I'd say MP Soundwave and Ultra Magnus are the best two G1 MP figures. With MP-36 Megs and Star Saber being respective joint second place.

I've been fairly critical of a lot of the recent figures, starting with Ultra Magnus. My primary issues are the figures which have an overly cartoon feel to them with the use of simplistic panels, or other parts, which exclude the "tech" or "mech" detail that Transformers of this size and caliber should have. In addition, I've been critical of figures that are a jumbled overly complicated nonsensical mess of parts to achieve either form. Dinobot is an exception to the latter issue because I don't think there's any other way to accomplish what they were able to do.

To date, Wheeljack and Prowl remain my personal favorites.

Not to be off-topic, but how do you feel about artfire? I couldn't stand inferno and grapple's uni-tone color scheme, but the two colors and tampo's on artfire really made up for it on him for me

Also let's be frank, this is the only way some of the Transformers are ever going to work within the Masterpiece Line IE Broadside

It will be the future going forward, as the designs become less standard and require more creative thinking to ensure accuracy. The cars, trucks and jets are the easy part after all.

Toy-accurate head: T-Wrecks! For that matter: Dinobot, toy-accurate head for... Grimlock.

Which also leads to some retools too, such as Hardhead. Nightprowler too is also a possibility.

I don't know what to make about MP-36. His "robo vagina" is the first thing I notice every time I look at him. Overall, it's a great toy, but I think that crotch piece is just a visual mess that really bothers me. I'm also not a fan of the upper shoulder/torso area which looks unfinished to me, but I also acknowledge that a lot of Transformers toys have varying degrees of that problem as well. I have some other minor issues with the figure as well. It's a good Megatron, definitely more in-line with MP-41 Dinobot's transformation. I'm also aware that I'm in the minority on this one. I just can't get past the initial feelings and thoughts that I had about him.

Same goes with Hot Rod (various issues with robot mode and has flat car mode), Shockwave (mostly because of his colors and overly complex leg transformation), Ironhide and Ratchet (because of poor design of their backs/torso sides that could have been easily resolved), and I'm really torn on Inferno (the lower leg plain panels really irk me but I absolutely love his transformation). Ultra Magnus is a fantastic Masterpiece figure, he just needed more of the detailing that I think Inferno needed.

I want that feeling I got when I saw Wheeljack and just thought he was perfect, along with a clever transformation. When I see a figure and get that "disappointed" feeling about something that bothers me about the robot mode or car mode, it just sours it for me. I feel like a Debbie Downer about all of this and am frustrated about feeling this way about so many "Masterpiece" figures from the past 5 years or so unfortunately.

I really liked the robot mode despite the fake chest (don't know how else you'd do "cartoon" accurate unless you did this), but I really disliked his very cartoonish head. Had they given him some of the tech/mech details from the G1 toy or previous versions of the character, I would have been very happy. It didn't need to be the G1 toy head like in the upcoming remold/recolor, but just those lines and details from that version is what I'm looking for. The cartoon styled head would have looked fantastic with some more details.

I jump in on this one. I think Artfire is a great example of just a little bit extra making all the difference. I got MMC Backdraft before MP Inferno came out. Then, when Inferno arrived, and so many started to rave about him, I sold Backdraft, and bought Inferno. Huge mistake. Inferno is so very boring and plain. I soon sold him and required Backdraft. Then Grapple came out, and while he is better than Inferno, with just a couple of panel lines added, he is still very much on the plain and boring side. Still, mold variance between the two characters now is what I like in my collection. I chose to ignore the coming of Artfire completely.

A couple of months ago, D-max and Cobotron just wounldn't shut up :-P about Artfire in thier collection threads, so I decided to take a gamble, and bought Artfire. Great decision! Artfire is amazing! The tampos and color differences really make him pop and stand out. Takara really needs to up the level of tampos they do. Just look at the upcoming Megatron repaint. Those added details really make me want to piss my wife off and buy a second 200 buck figure.
