It's a really nice design. I like the look a whole compared to other Slags at that size.

But I'm done collecting G1-esque Grimlocks and other dinos. The Studio series is their last hurrah for me.

Honestly, if they have to keep releasing the same characters, I'd prefer this. I like the idea of modernizing existing designs, allowing the brand to grow and do new things while still banking on nostalgia.

Well then, guess he would still be better than anything on these constantly empty shelves I've seen within 100 miles for months

That's what the Cyberverse designs and show are all about.

The Cyberverse Volcanicus Toy Is Not What Any of Us Expected

Due to a lack of reveals, the Cyberverse line has been full of surprises lately with toys that look great and others that are really lacklustre, you'll choose where this news fits. We had a listing of a Volcanicus toy coming but it's Ultimate Class price point was relatively cheap for a combiner. That's because, as it turns out, he isn't a combiner. Still looks like one though, with the individual combiner limbs sculpted with the individual dino heads near the legs. However, the toy itself goes from gestalt to a quadrupedal Dragon beast. While other toylines for very little kids do something similar (see image of Playskool Power Ranger below), it doesn't happen as often with Transformers. The toy being a "combiner" is stated on the back, referring to the character in the fiction/show, but that is bound to stir some confusion, bot for kids and parents. The images were found on Amazon.

...I...I may actually like this one more than the SS86 one.
I think he looks good in both modes...where SS86 is kind of boring to me.

That Volcanicus actually please me a lot! I don't care that it's not a combiner. Taking it as it is, it look like a ton of fun! Plus not gonna like, he looks BAD-ASS!

I may not buy him at full price, but I'll keep an eye open for a sale.

Well that really wasn't what I was expecting! I don't mind it though, my eyebrow twitches more looking at the box for the power rangers toy, seeing The wildforce red ranger, green Dino charge Ranger, blue and yellow dino thunder rangers fighting Rita Repulsa

For me, it's the "Go Go Power Rangers" bit that's bothering me. It's a Wild Force toy, so it oughta say "Guardians of the Earth, United we Roar!"

I didn't know you knew your Power Ranger teams ZeroWolf, very cool.

Also, the reactions to this toy here and on facebook are far more favourable than I thought. Seems people are finally getting the idea that this is the kids line.

I love Power Rangers too. :)

As for this Volcanicus.... It might be ok for kids but don't try to put it next to POTP Volcanicus lol.

What I find too bad about all this is that this toy represents something pretty damn cool that we probably won't get. This Cybervere Volcanicus is a new design and has a different combination scheme than the POTP Volcanicus. While the legs are similar, the arms are done by a larger Sludge seperating in half to become the two arms (reminds me of Beast Wars Tripredicus) and Swoop becoming the wings in the back. Would be cool to get a Cyberverse Dino Combiner team that transformed to give us this design but from the listings of toys we know we are getting, this is not in the cards.

Still, so odd that they would design something feasible for toy form and not make it.

That's what the Cyberverse designs and show are all about.

Wasn't that the original goal of the Classics line? Modernizing old characters and designs?

If the new trilogy stuff didn't exist I'd have happily added some Cyberverse toys into my collection.

What the WHAT?!?! Maaaaaan...I don't even know where to begin. Most of me considers this toy utter junk, yet a part of me is kinda\sorta intrigued by it.

I didn't expect a whole lot when it was said there would be a Volcanicus in Cyberverse. Figured this would be something along the lines of RID Galvatronus, Menasor, and Ultra Bee (or whatever it is called)...which would not have been terrible. Certainly not this.

"Loooook....me Volcanicus now have Sky Lynx-mode!!" (said in G1 Grimlock's voice)

Cyberverse....so much untapped potential. Could'a been really cool...like Transformers Animated, with interesting designs and style, and (mostly) really good toys. Instead, Cyberverse has interesting designs and style, with more or less garbage toys (there are a few exceptions I'm sure).

Now....if they did something like this for Predaking, that could be pretty neat (if done right). Gestalt-mode would be G1 Predaking, while dragon-mode could be Transformers Prime Predaking, or even a tribute to Dragon Beast (what I believe the G1 Predacons (or rather...Anibots) were originally meant to form).

I like it, I've always thought combiners should be able to combine in any number of ways, doesn't always have to be a big bot. Sure, it'd be nice if it could actually combine, but I've already got two of *whatever the plural of Volcanicus is* I wont miss not getting a third.

What if Volcanicus isn't a combiner but a last-ditch effort to save the lives of the Dinobots after a horrible attack. Their bodies are merged into this one bot that has a new alt mode that encompasses the powers of the individual members.

Power rangers became a big part of my childhood, and I was able to revisit it when my oldest got into it.

I'm glad the reaction to this has been good, kids will love this, so would I

That's ok, they are on the same level as Rescue bots or slightly higher, so they wouldn't really be enjoyed by us much. The deluxes are similar to deluxes in other lines though and I do wish we had an older kids toy option for many of these great looking designs, like this volcanicus.

Potential buy for me, potp volcanicus would have been a lot better with swoop on the back (even if it meant only having one arm hahahah).

Liking the design and the beast mode.

Yup it was. Hasbro took that idea to heart with the evergreen designs and built more new designs based on that modernized G1 aesthetic for the Cyberverse show. What I find cool is they went beyond G1 with that aesthetic and brought in elements from Beast Wars, Beast Machines, Animated, Bayverse, and Neo G1 (ie Windblade) all in a new unified design that is seen in both a show and toyline.
