I see everyone is conveniently forgetting that Hasbro and Takara have been making non-Transforming TF figures since 1985.

But those were made as tokens for a board game, I would not really count them

The board game came AFTER the figures. Also...
"Naturally, Takara were not so unwise as to limit themselves to releasing these figures with the game alone: three large box sets were also released encompassing all fifty-three figures that made up the series."

The game was essentially nothing more than "Compare the numbers. Higher number wins." Very similar to Bot Shots, but with no transformation.
"The figures were also available individually, through "gachapon" capsule machines, in a variety of different colors including red, blue, yellow, green, orange, sky blue, pink, tan and white."

"In 1987, Hasbro imported the figurines and branded them as "Decoys", randomly packaging them with the smaller carded toys of the time."

Spin it any way you want, the fact remains: Takara has been making non-transforming TF figures since 1985, and Hasbro's been selling them since 1987.

I wouldn't say better just different as the 2014 Camaro has slightly better articulation.

The 2014 is miss transformed. The arms flip out more giving a bicep and wrist swivel. Like I said not so much better than different.

I know he is mistransformed because I have him.I am talking about the overall look not poseability. If you count the poseability, then yes he is better than high octane.Other than that, no, not really.

ive just opened up my SDCC dinobots and had my first experiences with snarl and voyager grimlock. while theyre really nice looking, and decent toys, i feel there enough of a precedence now for an official name change of "age of extinction".

i propose:
Transformers 4 - Gorilla Arms

......

...

seriously.
does every figure in this line have gorilla arms?

most of the dinobots have them, though the vehicle-based guys all have normal arms if i remember correctly.

yes he doesn, though you can work around it a bit due to the design of his wrists

As interesting as these repaints may be, I just dont find them desirable. I think there's just too much going on with each figure.

So much for being movie-accurate.

I guess Takara's Black Knight redecos are the most movie-accurate ones, though why Strafe still has yet to be given one is beyond me.

Wow. I was so excited for better looking dinobot figures. This is disappointing.

While Slug, Strafe and Scorn look pretty good (aside from the fact they're supposed to have blue eyes) Grimlock and Slog look really bad. There's way too many translucent pieces and in the wrong spots too. Grimlock is the worst looking figure here. Why the yellow? It's like someone messed up and said "ohhh... the yellow was for the G1 repaint... oops" Slog looks like a hot mess and I REALLY don't like his neck being so transparent when in dinosaur form. I guess I could buy this set for the 3 Dinobots and sell the other 2.

You guys are impossible to please. I find this set to be totally awesome looking, moovie accuracy be damned.

I'd still have to pass because of budjet and space restrictions. I now have a new rule. To avoid repaints of molds that I already own as much as possible. And because I only need one voyager and one deluxe to complete my fruity dinobots set, I'll have to pass.

All I want are toys that look like the Dinobots that were in the movie. I fail to see how this is too much to ask for.
