I'm guessing all that black kibble shadow on hotspot in robot mode is due to mistransformation right?

Think doing all of these repurposed figures is the only way HasTak's budget can afford to give us almost all of the CW G1 Combiners. At least most are not just Lazy cheap repaints. Their seems to be enough new parts to make each toy look different.

If I had to chose between the option of getting repurposed combiners team members, instead of the option of nothing. I'd chose the repurposed option.

Think CW Cyclonus is a great repurosed toy. Think their is enough different parts to make this toy unique from Silverbolt.

Since you are a Unique toys Mania King toy owner. Think this CW Cyclonus is perfect for your Mania king. As they scale well with each other. Better than the deluxe toy scales.

You might be able to use 25th Cyclonus's targetmaster for CW Cyclonus. If the fist holes are the same.

Well, we finally agree on something.

Agreed. Plus the deco is strikingly different, so much so that it feels like an almost new figure. Sure, you can tell it's a reuse of Silverbolt with the right set of eyes, but to those who don't know (and those who don't care), this is Cyclonus. He's new and he's badass. Just so happens to be a drastic remold. Great thing about it is Silverbolt is a nice mold, a solid mold and new figures based off of him show some promise.

Cyclonus is proof of that, but I can't wait to see what Scattershot looks like. (He's a no brainer when it comes to the Silverbolt mold. I just hope he's a bit more remolded to differentiate from both Silverbolt and Cyclonus.)

I can't speak for Rated X, but I do own Mania King, and I'd imagine they scale pretty well together. Although, Cyclonus should be somewhat taller than Galvatron, according to the animation models. The fist holes are 5mm I do believe, so the Generations Targetmaster should work indeed. It's a shame the KFC Targetmaster probably won't work. (I haven't tried it to confirm, however)

If Hot Spot is to be used as Onslaught I hope they figure out a way to move the head down so we can get double cannons back there like on the vintage toy. I'm sure it can be done but the question becomes will it be done. I like the mold used for Warpath but I hope somewhere down the line we get a Legends or Legion Class figure that's a better representation of the classic looking tank

Good eye! And not surprising given the "errors" we've had so far.

It's not really an "error" per se. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, the art on these collectible cards is ripped straight out of the Transformers Legeneds mobile cash grab card game, whose designs are a mix of generic G1 designs and artwork of specific toys. They weren't made to go along with the CW toys, they're just a bonus Hasbro is throwing in since they want to have some sort of pack-in bonus and they've already commissioned the art.

ok, quick thoughts, more photos to come later.

Huffer: First exposure to this mould, pretty articulate, though a little smaller than I expected. Not exactly G1 design, but hell, he's cool enough, I'm OK

Blackjack: New character to me, pretty cool little guy. Weapon is kinda useless in bot mode, but I can see the Hot Rod reference in vehicle mode. Otherwise nothing special.

Air Raid: Lower half is nothing new, same legs as Skydive, just a different colour. Same goes for his weapon and hand/foot/cannon thingy. I like the head sculpt, and the play value with the wings is pretty cool. Articulation is about the same again. A good, solid final addition to the Aerialbots.

Dead End: I like the red colour, so that's a good start to begin with. Vehicle mode is a sweet looking sports car, something you'd see on the streets at night or on a racetrack. As with many of the original G1 combiners, the whole front end ends up on the back as a backpack, though fairly low, out of sight in Dead End's case. Articulation is on roughly par with Drag Strip.

Breakdown: Probably my least favourite of the Stunticons, especially as his leg mode looks pretty small in comparison to Offroad (more on this later) - though having said that, he's not a bad figure at all. Strangely, his foot articulation makes him a little less stable to stand, and there's some weird hip articulation, but the vehicle mode is pretty sweet.

Offroad: Like Alpha Bravo with the Aerialbots, for some reason he seems to be my favourite Stunticon. Again, the plastic used for him feels different to the other deluxe figures, again like Alpha Brave (conspiracy?) but otherwise quite solid. Huge backpack with the front end of the 4WD mode sticking up over his shoulders.

Motormaster: It's Optimus, in a new skin. Completely remoulded chest, shoulders, vehicle front end with a new head. Otherwise, no difference in articulation or design. Strangely, his head seems more proportionate to his body that Optimus' does.

Menasor: He's big. Much bigger than Superion. I think it's due to the size/thickness of the limbs, and the larger torso. In fact, the whole thing's just that little bit bigger. Though that suits a bruiser character like Menasor. Like Ultra Prime, his legs are a little too akimbo based on a slight design flaw, unless careful when placing, he tries to pull the splits.

Now, it has been a long time and I am going entirely off of memory, but G1 Scattershot has that 3rd mode nose cannon thing going on, right?
Think there is any way to repurpose this mold to incorporate that or am I just being crazy?

It could work, but those third modes are dropped, so I don't see it happening for a possible Scattershot.

Yes. Considering we have a Silverbolt and a Metroplex and no official way to connect them.

Hah, that's when it turns out that takara found a way and even put in a spring to launch his team mates like his G1 ancestor.

@shockblast well he couldn't use a cw Wildrider as it doesn't exist yet, erego Offroad

Hotspot looks great. Everything else disappoints me: I don't see the need for another Warpath. I would think the Viper would appeal the Joe fan in me, but it leaves me cold. The last Classics/Universe/Generations Cyclonus looks way better than this new Voyager Class one. And Groove, who was one of my favorite toys as a kid, is the biggest let down to me. I had high hopes for that figure, but the proportions look way off on him. I'd have to see more pics to make a determination, but as of now he's also a pass.

I'd assume this is a reference to G1 Motormaster's car launching gimmick, but I've seen no indication at all that would lead me to believe this is a thing we'll see in any way, shape, or form in CW.

The first 4 Scramble City combiners leaders had a 3rd mode for connecting to Metroplex. Hot Spot had a repair mode (which is what the otherwise useless welding rods are for), while the rest turned into launching ramps. They were supposed to be spring-loaded, which has kept in the Japanese releases, but removed from the US ones.

shockblast2 wrote:That alt mode for Hot Spot is horrible. Is that a train or a fire truck?

A real Fire Truck, at least the cab section seems to be based on the Rosenbauer Panther line of trucks, the same kind used for DotM Sentinel Prime

I'm thinking its only slightly earth based and more cybertronian/futuristic, kinda like the cybertron line. That fits with the rest of the team, especially streetwise.

I think that might be the point. It's earth enough to pass for a classic hot spot (or if someone wants RiD Optimus) and futuristic/Cybertronian enough to pass for IDW hot spot who comes from the lost light
