That being said, the Platinum line has done virtually nothing for me. There is simply nothing worth having there :BOT:

I feel the heads work fine due to the accompanying deco. I dont think anyone can be a fair judge without having them in hand.

No offense if you like the movie figures, but I don't have to hold a turd to know it's a turd. Movie figures and G1 homages do not mix.

ROTF Bludgeon, HFTD Sea Spray, and DOTM Space Case would like to have a word with you.

So... evasion mode o/p isn't an incredible figure >:oP

Its an incredible movie figure, and I have 2 of them. I do not even remotly accept it as a G1 Figure though, no.

But that isn't what you said...

On a side note, a cool twist on the final battle of o/p and megs in the movie would've been: evasion o/p with his mask, an appropriate gun, and battle damage maybe(?) and dotm megs with evasion o/p's shotgun, painted up like g1 megs...

Hooooo man, that would've been F$#KING AMAZING

For me, I didnt see how well they could work until I had them in hand. I had only boght them because I wanted the SDCC sets and being in Canada, it was trickier and pricier to get. This seemed like a really nice consolation prize :)

But yes, I am projecting my personal experience of warming up to them once I had them in hand onto everyone else, which is not fair.
No worries. I get what you mean though, but for me I handled 4 or 5 versions of each Dinobot already. I think I got the gist of them

There is a reason no one is currently begging Hasbro for an update to G1 Bludgeon, we already have a perfect one :x

PS: I think Evasion Mode OP is also a really amazing homage. It's a movie bot hidden away in the most G1 alt mode possible, I love it!

I was speaking on the movie "Dinobots", you brought up a different figure. ;)

As for Bludgeon, Sea Spray, and I forget the other one (and don't remember it from back in the day) never felt like movie verse figures. I've always felt they belonged more in a chug line.

some people also think Armada Scavenger is a good toy. >:oP

With the exceptions of Bludgeon and Emop, I distinctly remember these toys stinking up toy shelves. Many of these early movie reprints are what broke me of my completist rabbit of collecting. I used to buy every transformer made. The movies broke me of that.

Then again, it appears the G1 reissue sets aren't that popular either. I was able to buy both the boneheads and the insecticons for about 60 bucks (combined total) on eBay this week. At this point it doesn't really matter what Hasbro does for me, I have my modern Dinobots thanks to the Lost exo realm series. I'd still buy a reissue set in a heartbeat though.

You know what? Yes, I would DEFINITELY like that.

Although I am kind of shocked that they aren't re-using the AoE/Generations Evolution Classics Optimus mold colors (remember how shiny his grill and bumper were when he was running down Thrust and the rest of the Decepticons?!) and they COULD have used United Megatron..that would've been a guaranteed buy for me.

My next question..where's the Platinum "Final Battle/Sleep Mode" MP10?! THIS IS THE YEAR TO RELEASE THAT (shaj knows what I'm talkin about)!!!!!!!

It had a great purpose though, it was made to fit perfectly into the hand of MP Starscream to replicate G1.

Also MP Megatron turns into a gun, a freaken awesome gun!
Ah RTS Legends Megatron. I've never tried that with him and a seeker!! I should really try it with MP05, he may be able to hold his arm up with that instead of trying to hold up his canon

I still don't understand the deco of this Platinum set.. :-?

Yeah, "kinda"..why not pick colorways that exist that work?! Or just slightly tweak them so they aren't EXACTLY the same?!

WHY?! :-(

I'm aware it's a question I'll never have answered

I know making fun of him is the in thing, and I do my fair share. But when I have MP 05 positioned jut right, he can really take my breath away. He can look so damn commanding and imposing even with those skinny legs. Im so sad he's in a box (will be moving in the next few months) and is currently off limits to my mits!

I like those figures, and I'm not a fan of the movie toys, but we should probably have a working understanding that exceptions, by definition, do not represent the norm.
Or, we should have a functioning understanding that figures you like don't cancel out someone elses' dislike of the figures. But that, I know that is asking way too much.

I have always felt there was a big divide between the movie toys of characters onscreen and offscreen. The offscreen characters usually tone down the alien look and have smoother surfaces and more vehicle inegration. I've never met someone who hated DOTM Skyhammer for instance and thats mainly because he tones down the movie vibe. Same with Terradive and a multitude of others, so I dont think those are exceptions. I really think it's offscreen vs onscreen molds. I actually made some top 5 lists discussing that (it was Megatronus' suggestion actually), they will be published later this year. I look forward to seeing your participation in those :) I also find it too bad that AOE didnt give us any molds for offscreen charaters aside from Slog and Slash (kinda, Slash was scrapped from the film).

On the back you can see it on the top left. That's not a bad price in the end. Be probably around 89.99 in US. I see it I'm getting it.

Well, if you only went by the thrilling 30's list of exclusive figures, then yes, otherwise I thought it was a great year for tf's one of the best even, based on the variety of the figures offered >:oP

Late reply, busy job.

It was varied, absolutley. It also launched a load of ideas that didn't really work for me. 1, 2 and 3 step changers got better in 2015, for instance. Besides variety, I also saw a LOT of stressmarks, rubber (which I dislike) and boring figures. Aside from mvoie Galvatron, I got rid of them all.

Mainly it's the exclusives that bothered me. So many double releases and updated paintjobs... Zero spectacle. 2015 squashed 2014 in regular retail and in exclusives.
