New Gallery: Transformers Masterpiece MP-30 Ratchet

Since the begining of the year, it has been a non stop schedule of Transformers Masterpiece releases with at least one coming out every month, with prominant characters like Shockwave and Ironhide finally getting Masterpiece figures. Adding to these all star G1 characters is the release of Masterpiece Ratchet, which Seibertron now has a gallery of. Ratchet is the Autobots' Chief Medical Officer and one of the original Autobots aboard the ark. He has been part of the franchise since the very first Transformers episode and comic issue and has been an integral member ever since through various icarnations. From the begining, he has always been a redeco of Ironhide (both G1 toys come from differently coloured Diaclone Nissan van toys) and this Masterpiece figure is no exception. While they share the same mold here once more, there are a few differences between Transformers Masterpiece Ratchet and Ironhide such as a redesigned pelvic area, which many found to be an issue with Ironhide. He also comes with stickers for his shoulders and different accessories, which can all be found in the gallery. Enjoy!

I'm still waiting for a solution to those hips panels, but I must say I mind them less on Ratchet... I might not have to give him the same treatment as Ironhide :P

That would be pretty cool since it would make them even more different from another :)

Another fantastic gallery Seibertron! Your photos alone would be reason enough for me to visit your site regularly.

It's probably too late for it, but I was really hoping you'd do a pic with MP Ratchet Karate-kicking MP Thundercracker in the guts like that scene from the G1 "Changing Gears" episode. If you can do it, it'll most likely require a figure-stand, but it's a cool pose I'd really appreciate seeing.

(Also, I'm curious about that exclusive CW Ratchet. I wish it was a widely-released figure. I'm still hoping Deluxe Groove becomes available this May too.)

Yup! I'd like to see that photo too.

And Alvaron, Big Groove is a sure thing. He was shown and confirmed at BotCon. ;)^

There is a 3rd party :-$ solution coming for Ironhide so Ratchet can't be far behind.

Ol' Ratchet is already transformed and stored in a ziploc back in the Autobot Masterpiece tub. :(

Normally I would bust him out again but I forgot to do the vehicle mode comparisons with the 5 different Ratchets in the gallery until the end so even though the vehicle mode pics all show up in order, the comparisons weren't taken until the very end so Ratchet is in vehicle mode for the time being until he's needed again.

I do have Takara's Masterpiece Thundercracker on the way finally so maybe when I do his gallery, I'll do a Ratchet ass-kicking photo to make all of you happy!

Anyone here plan on modifying the cross decals to just a cross? Was thinking of a G1 homage and cutting the small red squares off... :-?

 It's all good. I'm sure you have plenty of other photos to take. Catching up on Beast Wars and Machines will make me plenty happy. When you get to it, of course. ;)^

I am thinking of cutting off those squares too, but I might do :BOT: with cross on one shoulder, and the trimmed cross on the other.

I thought about doing it but was concerned about the thickness of the sticker. Should some of the white be left or should the cut be flush with the cross? I decided to just leave it for the time being.

It was very easy to cut them while still on the backing paper using my wife's small sewing scissors. I cut them flush because even the tiny, trace amount of white just doesn't show up unless I get my face right up on him.

In sticker screw-up of a level only I can do consistently, Ratchet's left shoulder cross logo is too far to his right by just a small margin. Noticed it "in time" since I hadn't pressed down and still had the tweezers under one section securely. Unfortunately, those stickers are so sticky that it almost definitely would have ripped or gotten deformed if I'd attempted to move it closer to the exactly correct spot.

That's what lighter fluid is for, scottyp!

Looks nice though. I might do my lighter fluid trick to get the stickers off, trim them up and put them back on.

So you all remember those awesome 84 seeker jets? Remember those guys? Those 3 guys that looked exactly alike save for the head? Well, now do you remember those even awesomer (yes, it is a word) 85 jets, you know, the ones with the Pointy Hats Cone heads? Well, thanks to Seibertron himself, we are proud to bring to you our latest Transformers Masterpiece Gallery, that of MP-11NR Ramjet! Ramjet is an extensive retooling of the standard seekers Masterpiece body, among which involves the moving of the wings from the backpack to the legs, and includes that righteously awesome coned-out head that we all know and love. He even includes some brand new dual arm cannons to mess around with. Check this conehead out, and let us know what you think of him in the comments section below. And stay tuned to Seibertron.com for all your latest Transformers News and Galleries!

Wow, it'd be nice to see all of those Platinum Editions at my local TRU stores. None of them are there!

That's because in the states the exclusives are divided among more stores, like Kmart, BBTS and Target. Those dont exist in Canada so TRU (which I must say has amazing distribution in Canada) gets all the exclusives and you can see them all grouped up :)

There are other considerations. Mattel uses Hot Wheels designs dozens of times, in different colors and styles, before retiring them. Also, Mattel sells cases of toys to retailers, not individual toys. A case of 72 Hot Wheels cars might contain five or six new models that are officially licensed, and the rest are either old molds or vehicles that were totally invented by Mattel.

Masterpiece Shockwave is a toy Takara's not going to be able to get very much mileage out of, unlike Starscream or Prowl. They won't be able to do endless redeco versions to help recoup their development costs. The pricing may factor that in as well.

Funny you should bring up Mattel's Hot Wheels, as I can see companies license their models to a single company only (btw Ferrari has an exclusive deal with them, which means no Ferraris for TF), so if Mattel holds a license, chances are Hasbro can not acquire it until it expires.

TakaraTomy has no problem: the Tomica line of die cast cars is run by them, in fact it's been stated that they got some licenses via Tomica.

And Hot Spot is just sitting there unsold. He's pretty hard to find in the States for a good price. I've never seen one in person, BBTS sold out a while ago, TFSource wants $30 plus shipping which is a bit high, eBay is upwards of $40 shipped, and if he was ever on HTS it wasn't for long and he was never restocked. I haven't bought any of the Protectobots since there isn't much reason without the Voyager, but maybe I should make good on the May Mayhem deal and get the limbs off HTS, grab Hot Spot from TFS, and hope I can get my hands on a Groove.

@emerje

HTS's eBay store has some sale going on right now - the CW voyagers are 21 shipped (limbs are 14). Maybe check for Hot Spot? I just picked up Onslaught from them today.
