I understand the schism over Skullgrin. On the one hand, the robot mode doesn't look like the original Pretender shell, except in passing. And the alt mode has some differences. Having had the original G1 figure, I can see the differences.

On the other hand, the robot mode tried to bring in a lot of those features. The skull of course. Also the shoulders have the rounded look of the original shell, and the pelvis/hip area imitates the 'belt' that the G1 shell used to have with the buckle on front, and the spiked side panels.

And the alt mode at least mimics the original alt tank decently. Everything in between was a compromise. But they did the same thing with Core Iguanus, and everyone was over the moon about him. The G1 alt mode was lacking in many ways, you basically folded the robot in half and that was it. There were LOTS of gaps and it didn't hold together very well. I look at the alt mode for the Legacy version, and it seems a lot more solid, while still keeping the basic appearance. Though truth be told, from the front, it kind of looks like Siege Soundwave's 'spaceship' alt mode.

The Legacy Skullgrin robot mode has a blocky appearance to it compared to the original shell, yes. But didn't we say the same thing about Legacy Bulkhead? The original Bulkhead was rounded and smoother in appearance, but in Legacy they made him tall and boxy as well. And almost everyone was told, 'It's Legacy - deal with it.'

The Universe Deluxe Skullgrin was a compromise too. But I didn't have a problem with the changes they made to the robot and tank modes. In the end, I wound up not liking it for the same reasons that I didn't like MOST of the Universe-era Deluxes - they were just too complicated for the size. I dreaded transforming many of them just because each one of them had at least one phase of the transformation that was so fiddly and difficult, I didn't WANT to endure the hassle. For Universe Skullgrin, it was the tank turret area. You had to do some really intense jiggering to get the tank barrel/weapon inside the turret, and still get the turret sections in place. Here's hoping Legacy Skullgrin doesn't do likewise...

Well, if it's faithful to the G1 figure, they're spring-loaded on his back. (Which I doubt.)

As for the others, I'm sold on Inferno, probably going to get Stascream, and most likely pass on the others, even though they do look good. They just have no place in my evolving collection. I was gonna get Skullgrin, but the figure can't decide if it's a pretender or just the inner bot. He has the inner bot body and the pretender head. The skull face should have been included as a helmet piece over the actual bot head. Unless it is and I'm just missing it.

I wish we had the complications of the Universe figures. It would be more worth the money. These new deluxes look good but they're simpler to transform and thus not as fun.

As for Skullgrin's look, as I said in the other post, I wish they had gone with the inner bot all the way, since they cant do the transforming shell, and only give him the skull face as an accessory to put on his bot head. I have no real problem with his alt mode, I'm just put off by the aesthetic.

Also, count me in with those not caring about completing Menasor. Even though I think the individual Stunticons look pretty good. But the whole set is like a $180 commitment. Maybe when gas and food prices come down in a couple of years after we get competent conservative leadership that knows what to do with the economy.

You mean the best Legacy figure so far? ;) (Metroplex, yo!)

As for WFC Rodimus, I don't own him. I want to, but I don't want to pay for a trailer I'll never use. It would be great if Hasbro rerelease just the Hot Rod part in Legacy without the trailer. And I also prefer G2 Jhiaxus to RG1. He seemed to be a cheap imitation by Furman. G2 was a straight off-the-hook psycho. So my Jhiaxus is on my G2 shelf. :-D I do like RG1 story-wise. Just not that version of Jhiaxus.

He was talking toylines (although RG1 is a continuation of the Marvel Comics G1 comic series done by the legendary Simon Furman)

I am going out on a limb and say Jhiaxus will be the best Legacy figure. At least to me, he is going to be very hard to top and is easily the best voyager generations figure I have handled T30 Springer (I was mostly let down by WFC voyagers, honestly).

Oh I absolutely agree comic wise too, I love that G2 comic and Jhiaxus is easily one of the best parts of it. RG1 Jhiaxus is inferior, but I had Rodimus, and Prime is still packed up, so they went together!

Exactly, G1 toys ain't got crap on Kingdom Roddy and Legacy Jhiaxus.

RG1 was a really fun comic and one I still greatly enjoy.

RG1 is one of the comics that have cemented Rodimus as one of my absolute favorite "G1" characters, probably 2nd only to Trailbreaker. RG1, MTMTE/LL, and Last Bot Standing have all contributed greatly to that feeling.

Well I edited my post but not in time. I have high hopes for Metroplex in the Legacy line as the best figure, even if it might be unfair to compare him to others due to the class difference. And I would love to see Kingdom Roddy get rereleased in Legacy, but just the Hot Rod component. It would make some folks mad, but I really don't care for the trailer.

Would you mind paying leader class price for it? As that's the least it would be (if it was ever on separate molds to begin with)

They aren't spring loaded, but you can attach them there. All accessories will be revealed in a month from now along with akt modes

I feel like Shattered Glass is our best chance to see that mold without a trailer. I doubt Rodimus shares any molds with his trailer since he has a standalone alt mode. Plus as a Leader I think he'd still include all of the accessories.

I think that is very much wishful thinking. WFC showed pretty well you need at least a leader budget to do a Prime justice in the current lines, and they said they are getting away from re-doing all the G1 characters they did in WFC and are going to try to fill in the gaps while actually expanding to be GenerationS

Skullgrin's gunblades are cool, and the tank mode is...fine? Curious to get a look at it with a real sample/figure, rather than the classic box-render-showing-inaccurate colors (his lower legs are a solid color on the box, which we know is wrong based off the presentation image).

I'm also wondering if Pointblank/Blanker's photo is edited in any way? I just noticed that Crankcase's left shoulder seems to be dislocated in a way that suggests photo editing, so I wonder if that may also be the case for why Pointblank/Blanker looks so...off.

Dragon Megatron's toy/show mashup face design doesn't particularly bother me, but then again I was never big on the original version and I'm intending to wait for a Cryotek repaint anyway.
