Technically there should be an anime accurate nosecone hilt that's smaller, like what we saw on the MP but I can live if they don't do it.

They covered this in the video, the sword will have the option to orient the blade either way, but the current prototype they showed did not have this update yet.

They actually made a 3P toy that combines with an official TT product? I mean, I know there was a 3P Motormaster that was CW compatible, but I would think that would be grounds for a C&D from TT.

Yup. KFC did a Victory Leo, in a couple of variants. Even released replacement joints for the MP Starsaber, since his were kinda weak and get loose very quickly, and to make him more sturdy when combined with Leo. Can't say how good it is or isn't, as I never got it. Kept thinking the official MP had to be just around the corner. Honestly, the fact that TT never released the MP Leo kind of makes mw wonder about the over all popularity of the character, and whether or not that will play a factor in how well this set does.

I still wish this wasn't a crowdfunded piece, but I am down for it. Starsaber has always been my favorite Japanese TF character. Even if he did steal his gimmick from Machine Robo (Baikanfu~) I've seen someone post that they hope this drums up a chance at a G1 reissue. I am all in for that, the g1 toy is one of my grails.

I recently learned that while MP Starsaber was the best-selling toy in Japan for a week or two, sales quickly fell off and it became one of the worst selling MP figures ever. Yeah, surprised me too.

Don't forget, Baikanfu was a retool of an earlier Bandai toy from the late 70s. Another funny thing, Star Saber is a big tribute to the RX-78-02, it'll be funny if Hasbro somehow is able to include a head that looks more like the OG Gundam.

A couple thoughts on this. 1) what would be the point of doing an MP in Haslab, that is what the MP line is for. And 2) Um, no way in hell that would make enough backers at that price. Unicron barely made it and is a much more known/sought after figure. Hasbro apparently learned their lesson.

I'm guessing there is a much bigger market from casual fans who don't currently have an option for an affordable Starsabre at under $200 than there are die-hard Starsaber fans that would support an MP at $600.
As for "waaaaah, hollow spaces", it's a standard for Generations figures and that's what 3P upgrade kits are for.

Does literally nobody remember what happens to "solid" top-heavy combiners with lots of joints >:oP

He's about the size of a large Leader class, or what Leader class used to be like pre-Siege.

This is a nice shot. However, I do think that height-wise he will be a little taller than he appears as compared to Jetfire and possibly a little taller than a PotP leader. I think Ben was holding Hound a little too high. The shot of Starsabre cuts off before the end of the shin piece and leaves the whole foot out. That has to be at least an inch. No way the portion of Hound cut off in the Pulse shot and shown on the TFW one is an inch. I'm guessing about half an inch taller than this comparison makes it look like.

Backed him! I've been wanting an updated Star Saber since POTP so I was gonna back it anyway, but I really love how it looks. I'm hoping that we at least hit the 14,000 to get the gun, and anything beyond that will be the icing on the cake.

And a thing to note regarding this: Suppossedly HasTak's using Star Saber to test the waters for JG1 characters in general. Hopefully this goes well and we get more updates in the next trilogy

Is the price of a titan.

We'll back it up together and save in shipping again.
While I anticipated a really rough price, this is below my limit so it works and the size is good.

I'm already a backer. 25$ in shipping is reasonable for a "titan". So I think I'm good.

But I'll rely on you for Agent Ravage for sure because it's ironically the same price to ship a deluxe than a titan.

So I feel like this is a prelude of things to come if the project is successfully backed. Did the success of Unicron result in war for cybertron figures, especially the latter earthrise, kingdom, and ss86 lines? Will victory saber bring about liokaiser, deszaurus, dinoking, road caesar, galaxy shuttle, etc. in a near future line? And how many not backing this will be out the "optimus prime" of the line? Just something to think about. Victory is a great show, but definitely stick with the subtitles. And even if victory saber is only a one-off, I am backing it...with high hopes that it sparks further releases of victory figures.

This figure looks great. I don't have much attachment to Victory nor Star Saber in particular, but I'm impressed. I thought about backing it, but I doubt 1 person will make a difference with how popular the character and this figure is. And I'm glad other parts of the franchise besides the original cartoon are getting more love. Maybe this will inspire some attention for the Armada line soon.

Unicron had no bearing on Earthrise and Kingdok as they were both in development before unicron was (barely) backed. SS86 happened because of the movies Anniversary.

However, whilst Unicron didn't have a bearing on the retail toylines, Star Sabers success may influence lines from 2023 onward.

We can only hope, if this funds, then perhaps in future Generations lines (2023 or 2024) more Japanese characters from the original series will be made.

oh how I wish. I would Love to see modern takes on most of the Victory cast, with Dezaurus and Lio Kaiser being tops of my list (I don't count the combiner wars Lio Kaiser). Would be interesting to see if they could pull off a new Landcross.

I know a LOT of people are down on CW Liokaiser. But honestly it is better than nothing. If we get a proper Deszaurus, Dinoking, Landcross ,Road Caesar, and Galaxy Shuttle first, then I'd be all for them revisiting Liokaiser later on.

I pre-ordered this around 2pm before a job interview (first in 25 years  ) so I didn't get to say anything and wasn't really paying attention to my relative backer number. Can't believe it's already one third of the way funded in half a day and still climbing by the hour. This is basically the best case scenario come true so it's very exciting. Not sure why they didn't have a colored render ready by now.

They did update the page with sizes of all the figures:
1-inch Brain of Courage Brainmaster figure
5-inch Autobot Saber figure
8.5-inch V-Star jet
7.5-inch Victory Leo figure

Note that the V-Star itself is 8.5" in length so it should be closer 10" or even more when stretched (to the top of his shoulder guns). Star Saber next to Leo in the video was definitely the larger difference than 1".

They also said they're planning to display him at Boston Fan Expo which is next week so we might get some better comparisons there. Also means that's Hasbro's next event and there's potential for other reveals there.

Oh, and they did say at the end of the video that they're working with partners outside of Pulse regions to get this into more countries so I think it's safe to say that 11,000 goal will be exceeded.

Please do God Ginrai next!

Honestly, I'm a bit hesitant to believe that he's that short. I don't imagine he's much taller than that, maybe an inch or 2, but he looks rather big. Plus, it looked like they were having a lot of trouble lining up Hound and Star Saber, so I'm not 100% he'll only be that tall. That said, it does kind of line up with the size of Victory Leo being WFC Leader sized, but more engineering

Now that I would back in the blink of an eye!

Then I would pray for a commander-sized Fort Max and a Scorponok. Yes, that's pretty much impossible, considering their Titan versions were released recently, but as a Marvel comic fan, I have steep hopes.

Just submitted my backing.

Looks like he's just bigger than SS86 Grimlock and Slag. My guess is in Victory Saber form he will be a head shorter than Jetfire. of course, I could be wrong.
