Product page is up, doesn't look like it'll have a pre-order.

https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/opti ... 2-115554-1

Target and Amazon both stock 18+ sets, so they'll probably have this, but we will have to check after the release date.

Yeah I don't think an explanation was ever given as to why Kre-o just ended. But I'm kind of glad in a way this Optimus Lego set is a one off. It looks amazing...

But to start a whole new line of Lego TF Minifigures would be detrimental to my wallet. I still have somewhere between 350-400 unique Kreons, and that is enough.

I don't think there's any mystery about Kre-O, it was just not a very good product. Lego has crazy market share on building blocks and it was never a Hasbro priority. They have a few top-tier brands and product types, and Kre-O never fit.

;)^ :APPLAUSE:

Seriously though, Kre-O did do a whole lot better than Built-To-Rule (not saying much, I know) and some other lines, and did improve on itself as it went on, but like most wanna-be interlocking brick lines it simply lost steam and came to a halt. I will say I adore the cleverness of some of the Microchangers, which is the thing that set it apart from Lego.

I'm actually quite curious about the design process of this set. It must have been pretty difficult to plan a converting model like this one. Who were the people behind this?

For me I lost interest when they stopped putting codes on the blind bags and I had to break down a few GI Joe sets.

Nah, I'll stick with my Diablock version by Takara Tomy. It might be a little rougher looking, but it's fully transformable, poseable and cheaper.

Wow, I had no idea this was even a thing! Looks like it just come out a little over a week ago and already sold out everywhere but eBay for double the price. I'll have to check a few local stores and see if ones around, I don't exactly trust store local stock checkers online.

I might get Optimus, not sure, maybe just as an investment.

Emerje

it was sold out in the first 30 mins. I believe they are both exclusive to lego stores and the site.

I found regular retail listings for the Tallneck at Walmart, Target, Amazon and B&N, all sold out. I haven't seen anything suggesting it's an exclusive.

Emerje

Did you? That's cool, I didn't see anything on target when I went looking, will have to double check.

Target link (sold out)

I managed to order one on Amazon today with no arrival estimate so not sure how long it'll take for them to get restock. Unfortunately they've already stopped taking orders again.

This Lego Optimus is so damn cool. I truthfully was wholly read to dismiss it upon hearing about it, but wow this looks so good!

The price really isn't that bad either. I really want this thing. I hope I get one next month. I need this guy in my life.

It’s odd the instructions and the box have his thigh piece upside down. But on the plus side the stickered little display title card has his thigh print correct!

Dan at Toy Galaxy said he'll likely be live streaming a build since he got a sample as well.

I take it he was given one by Lego/Hasbro?

I wonder if "I'm close friends with Hasbro" CrimevsCrime and chums were given one to review? ;)

Anyway, if Dan and other legit YouTubers get them, we'll probably be able to see how legit they are as they will announce that they received a review/promotional copy.

It would be nice if Lego sent a few to Transformer reviewers to get some opinions from the other end of the spectrum.

I take it he was given one by Lego/Hasbro?

He said on his most recent Friday Twitch live stream he got it from Hasbro and he's unboxed Hasbro's promotional boxes before (not just Transformers though he did get a box of Legacy stuff from Pulse a few weeks ago). He also isn't a reviewer, he's a collector and figure photographer and part time toy adjacent pop-culture historian. A couple years ago he turned his Toy Galaxy channel into a place where he uploads videos on the history of various movies, TV shows, comics, cartoons and other things that got toy lines or were so bad their toys were never released. Meanwhile his Toy Galaxy Too channel is where he now does figure stuff, usually unboxings or his quarterly 10 favorite figure purchases. Why Hasbro would send him free swag probably has a lot to do with him having over 324K subscribers TG (plus another 25K on TGT) making him one of the bigger independent toy channels on YouTube if not the biggest, not to mention nearly 37K followers on Instagram.

Yet that's what he implicitly claims when he thanks Lego and Hasbro 'for an early look.' Doesn't pass muster.

Pretty sure he is using the fact that others got the set officially early to justify his other works, if he's above board this time, surely his others are above board too, right?

Either way, I am excited for this and plan to try to get him

I imagine it's really hard to steal from the Lego factory since much of their work is automated so if anyone is sneaking out kits it would be pretty easy to figure out who.

What Hasbro's PR team cares about is view counts and subs, factory theft isn't their department.

Yes, he has the most views for Transformers content on YouTube and is already on influencer lists for these topics, which is why he also got a sneak peak by Paramount for their Rise of the Beasts unveiling.

Also, this isn't a stolen copy, and the toy isn't out, so there are less options as to how he may have gotten it.
