The rough prototypes are always in grey, and the plastic cast test prototypes are always in bright, varying colours (red, for instance, like Voyager Bulkhead) whereas third party prototypes are often cast in white like this. I'm going with unofficial. I'll be more than happy if I'm wrong on this one, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Doing a search of leaked prototypes over the last couple years, I have to grudgingly agree with you. I've only found a single exception, where a white prototype was found, instead of a grey one.

I hate to say it but the more I thought about this last night, the more I'm leaning towards 3P. It just doesn't seem to fit the classic HasTak style of prototype photos and this talk about the plastic color take that one step further. Still hoping it's official though.

Too early? What?

Do you know the amount of time that it takes from the grey repaint to the finished product? We saw Human Alliance Mudflap with Simmons and Chromia way back in July at San Diego Comic Con, and it's been 5 months and we still haven't seen freaking Hasbro retail pictures of the figure. Universe is set for Fall 2010. The timing of this is absolutely perfect.

Sorry but I completely disagree with that assessment.

The third movie is set for mid 2011, that means we will be getting the first assortments shipping and hitting for 2011 Q2, and as we know that thru 2010 Q2 are for Human Alliance and hold overs (like animated Arcee) to be followed by Universe for later 2010. Do you really believe that there is room in there for the launch of a whole new subline, after all the problems they had delaying the launch of the Animated line due to continued retailer support for the first movie.

As for product times, they mean nothing as we only see bits and pieces here and there. Heck look at the Joe Line, at Joecon this year they are showing almost completed pieces that won't be on shelves until 2010 Q4 (Spirit Tracker, Ride Armor)

Thus I expect we'll see these guys hit shelves around June to August of next year.

From what Hasbro has told us I would expect for TF's and GIJoe:
2009 Q4: on shelves now
2010 Q1: ROTF, N.E.S.T - Rise of Cobra
2010 Q2: N.E.S.T - Pursuit of Cobra
2010 Q3: N.E.S.T , Classics/Universe V3 - POC
2010 Q4: Classics/Universe V3 - POC
2011 Q1: Classics/Universe V3, Bayverse V3 Preview - POC Mecha Line
2011 Q2: Bayverse V3 - POC Mecha Line, Anniversary/Resolute followup
2011 Q3: Bayverse V3 - Anniversary/Resolute followup, Movie V2
2011 Q4: Bayverse V3, Bayverse V3 followup - Movie V2
2012 Q1: Bayverse V3 followup - Movie V2
2012 Q2: Bayverse V3 followup, NEW SERIES - Movie V2
2012 Q3: NEW SERIES- Movie V2 followup

Wow, that is interesting. That would make a pretty cool add on for Shadow Commander.

Ahh, I hadn't thought of that but maybe you're right. Maybe they'll market is as an accessory kit for SC, like the one for CC's rifle and launchers.

I've tried contacting FansProject to see if they will confirm that this is their product, will update you guys if I get a reply.

Was thinking about this while the site was off line. The reality is that FansProject is usually pretty calculated as to how they release images of their products-usually from their site first. I can't think of a recent case where a picture of one of their products just appeared out of nowhere with zero explanation. I doubt this is a FP piece more now. In recent memory, only iGear has just thrown a piece up like this up online and then later admitted that it was their product. It would be ironic if it’s another one of their FP add-on kits.

It’s going to be interesting to see how this pans out.
