Now I wonder, is this just auto-hate for the noob or do you genuinely dislike Rook? Will you hate him just as much when he's retooled into Brawl? :-?

There is nothing Brawl about that mold. It doesnt have the signature tank front chest and turret backpack. Plus Rook has wheels that are part of his chest in robot mode that is so not Brawl. Hasbro loves making tanks so Im fairly confident Brawl will be a new mold and Nosecone will be the retool of the new mold. All this fan speculation about the Rook mold being re-tooled into Brawl is nothing more than speculation. There is no rule that every mold gets a retool. Drag Strip hasnt yet. Those Autobot repaints in the TRU computers turned out to be bogus.

Don't cry wolf just yet:

Image

This image shows a blue Drag Strip and a yellow Breakdown. Guess who those could be?

As it stands, we have four more Deluxe Slots and one Voyager slot, and the listings found plus the white Prime would fit in there perfectly. Plus, it would be perfect opportunity to reuse the otherwise stand-alone (thus costly) Stunticon molds, retooled or not.

Brake-Neck/Wildrider and Quickslinger/Slingshot are exempt from the count of 16 molds (because they're not main retail). And for the record, the Fan-Built-Bot is for next year.

I'd advise waiting until BotCon in June before jumping to those conclusions, and keep hope. :)

While I don't really agree with creating a white Prime here (They should just stick with the red one) this picture does show those repaints we have been talking about. Plus, Rodimus has been confirmed and images shown and he is clearly right there on the chest. considering it's the combiner for the fourth quarter of the year though, we shouldn't say anything for sure yet.

Just throwing that out there. :BOT:

Of course it is. But popular speculation based on past events. That's called an "educated guess". I don't think anyone is saying it will ABSOLUTELY happen. But if speculation is correct, wadya gonna do X? :BLACKEYE:

Who's the dude or dudette that's supposed to fit on Defensors chest again? Any pics of what that looks like anywhere?

Groove, who in G1 was a limb. (Replaced as a limb in this version by Rook.)

I gotta be blunt - Groove looks ****. The bike is cool, but the whole robot mode is gawky, and not in a cool way most Minicons were.

Meh......I guess he looks alright on the chest. Can't really tell though because it's so heavily photoshopped. I was hoping for a later release of a Deluxe Groove but I guess this is it.

I suppose based on context that I must speculate that the censored word was not complementary in nature. In any event, to each their own. Personally, while I'd have rather had a Deluxe Groove, I think he's a pretty good looking Legends Class.

Motorcycles are often tricky even for larger scale figures to get decent robot modes out of, and Groove seems to have pulled it off nicely. (Although I would like to see him from behind, and see how his front wheel looks hanging out back there... Hopefully not too awkwardly!)

Unite Warriors Guardian (Defensor), if he's planned, will probably follow the trend of his brethren Superion and Menasor and have a Deluxe Groove instead of Rook, like Superion has Slingshot instead of Alpha Bravo and Menasor has Wildrider instead of Offroad. Question is, who would he be made from? Answer: out of a fellow motorcycle from a different, rumored, team ;)

It's a bit of a shame for an original team member to get this kinda treatment.

I look forward to working on a best motorcycles list. Animated prowl is an awesome motorcycle transformer and RTS Wreck Garr was really good too except for a design flaw involving his handlebars. But the design is smart and solid nonetheless. And the Prime Arcees toys were fine too.

You'd rather he didnt exist as part of the main line and instead only be available at a premium due to exclusivity at certain online retailers and simply be a redeco of another figure instead of getting an original mold, in scale with the combiner and available at retail?

That's just it, everything regarding that is rumor and speculation. If it is true, awesome! But until we hear some sort of confirmation... Well, Tarara had obvious figures to re-use the molds from to make Slingshot and Wildrider. Out of the figures we know for a fact to exist, there are no obvious molds to make a Deluxe Groove from.

I hope it happens. But I am not as confident about it coming to pass as it seems you are.

MGrotusque wrote:It's a bit of a shame for an original team member to get this kinda treatment.

Well, at least he is still on the team in some form. Better treatment then Hasbro gave Slingshot and Wildrider (unless you go Takara or find the "emerging market" exclusive figures.) I wonder if this will continue, and who will get left out of Bruticus or Computron? I will laugh a bitter, sad laugh if Afterburner gets left off of Computron. So much for anyone hoping he'd get a remold into a Deluxe Groove!

I hear what you're sayin. I don't mind all that much that he exists and he is in scale (sorta) being a motorbike But I'd have rathered an original mold because honestly Rook is not a good figure. It only looks good as a chest plate. The rest of him is redundant as a "team member". He'll always be a reminder of the way the team is supposed to be. Rook is relegated to the position of the "tragic reminder".

EDIT: I meant Groove not Rook.

I think it is just popular to hate on the new guys 'cause they're not from G1. Myself, even though I was not interested in Alpha Bravo, I think he's a cool looking mold and I look forward to owning him as Blades. And I think Rook will be fun, too. (I don't have an opinion off hand on the new Stunticon guy as, frankly, I haven't been paying as much attention to that team.)

It's not that I don't like him it's just that if you went that far with making a bike for the team than why not go all the way and make it a limb bot and and keep an original team member? You just need to scale him up and do some retooling. Then now you got the whole gang back together. Make the new guy the chest shield canon fodder mini bot.
