If you're like me and get two of each set of combiners to simultaneously display the individual team members and their gestalt form, this is great news, as you can have a more accurate looking Onslaught AND a more (toy) accurate Bruticus if you buy one of each Onslaught variant. I'm sure Takara will invariably give us a cartoon accurate chest plate for Bruticus, probably at the cost of Onslaught's screen accuracy, though.
most people don't buy two of every figure besides when does hasbro do cartoon accuracy thats takara's thing it also doesnt take away the look of onslaughts vehicle or robot having that grey instead of green but it does take away from Bruticus's look having a green chest, either way if im stuck with the green chest some paint will fix it up real nice!
Yes, cartoon accuracy is Takara's thing. That's why I speculated they would do a cartoon accurate chest for Bruticus, which Hasbro hasn't done. They've done a toy accurate gray chest for Bruticus, which makes for non screen accurate combined mode and a non toy accurate Onslaught alt mode. Hasbro's also done a non toy or cartoon accurate olive green/brown chest for Bruticus, which provides for a toy accurate alt mode for Onslaught that also happens to be cartoon accurate in this case. You may not think the gray paneling and turret in the middle of Onslaught's alt mode takes away from the figure, and I agree it looks mostly fine to me, but other's, including presumably some on Hasbro's design team, would rather have an option for a more toy accurate olive green for those pieces in question. The two variants released is their compromise, I suppose, so that consumers can choose what is more important to them, a toy accurate Bruticus or a toy accurate Onslaught.

Almost. I'd say that Hasbro's CW Ultra Magnus has a very G1 cartoon accurate paint mask, but uses color hues more accurate to the G1 toy than to his cartoon appearance. The light versus the much darker blue is a dead giveaway. Still, CW Ultra Magnus is one of my favorite releases of 2015. I don't get why some people revile it so much. I've not had any of the issues people have mentioned with the quality of the plastic. He could hold his guns a little more securely in his hands, but that's about the only real issue I've had.
