Huh. Stormshot would probably make a better Seeker than the actual RID "Seeker" mold.

As a Minicon fan I only just noticed that the Japanese version of Minicon Weaponisers both in gift sets and sold on their own have different Minicons with them - I knew the armour was different colours - but I never noticed that the Minicons were both different to each other and to the Hasbro ones too. I don't think that is mentioned very much.

With some luck I can pick up the new RID warriors soon as both my local Supermarkets have sold out completely so they should get them when they restock (unless they get the soundwave wave instead) - they have also sold out of Legions too so fingers crossed I can find a Legion Blurr too.

---

I have a question perhaps someone here can answer - is there definitive info on the next assortment waves of legion and Warrior - as I'd like to get a better idea of what is likely to get reissued soon so I know if I need to import a Legion Bisk, or Scatterspike,Bisk & Ratchet Warrior Class. I have a feeling if anyone gets missed out it will be Scatterspike.

It's a pain when they keep skipping waves in some international markets as then you are left wondering if you need to import or just be patient.

I'd feel a bit of a twit if I imported them and they they came out in April. but at this point with the Movie toys coming out i'm left wondering if anymore RID is even going to show up after the combiners - even though there is an expectation of more like Bludgeon *hopefully Thundercracker and Thermidor as well (that we do know about for sure).

I bet I will end up importing something though.

Funny you should mention that. His official Hasbro product description refers to him as an "Aerialbot", and back when the Aligned media first came out, it was established that, in this continuity, the terms "Seeker" and "Aerialbot" referred to pretty much any flying Decepticon/Autobot with a jet-based altmode, with the Exodus novel going even further to clarify that the Seekers existed on Cybertron as a prewar group who sided with the Decepticons when the factions rose up, and that any Seekers who defected to the Autobots were rechristened as "Aerialbots" (minus Jetfire, the book specifically pointed out that he still personally considered himself a "Seeker", just an Autobot one, even though he was still officially grouped with the Aerialbots). Therefore, one could say that Stormshot, by extensive Aligned media logic and reasoning, could be perceived as a Seeker. ;)

I feel a slight sense of retro-jipping with Stormshot since his transformation is almost exactly the Aerialbot one... but he has a couple extra tricks that makes him so much better - the intakes on his shoulders to better hide his robot-under-a-jet-syndrome and his little wing and cockpit accordion. I know it wouldn't have been extremely accurate, but goddamn would I have loved that option on the CW Aerialbot molds.

I would have felt that too, but I remind myself that the aerialbots also incorporate the combining gimick, so they also have somethign extra to offer that storm shot doesnt. And it makes both molds unique.

Well I'm pleased to say that I managed to just get a RID-17 Warrior Class Soundwave, Skywarp, Windblade with battle mask and Blurr & (This line goes on forever doesn't it) - anyway Not opened them all yet - but I just thought I'd say a few words about Soundwave.

He's quite intricate - but does have some minor negative considerations design wise such as some issues with the way his shoulder peg in (or rather that they don't) in robot mode - he's pretty loose too (Lightsteed loose). Anyway I've had him to bit to fix the bits I can get at and i'll have to floor polish some pinned areas too.

Looks wise though he's quite nice and is actually pretty well decorated too (surprisingly so for an RID toy).

So good but not Superb he's sort like a floppier Thunderhoof only with a more military looking alt mode. I look forward to the Activator Combiner to get Laserbeak too.

No longer the "Bot Slayer" she once was, Windblade now vows to protect the people without ever drawing her blade again.

No, but seriously, she looks silly swinging that thing around.

I think the scabbard contains a rifle function - not that it's a good way to hold a gun any more than it is a sword.

Maybe it's really a fake beard? You know, robots in disguise and all that.

Yeah but most people's beards don't cover everything from below your eyeballs. I mean maybe its supposed to be an ugly ski mask.

And I believe it's patterned after traditional mempo, or samurai battle masks. Or at the very least the ninjas from Mortal Kombat

Yes that is quite probable *remember the original Turtles III - like that*.

But considering her other face is Kabuki Play influenced perhaps there is something related to that in her design too of her "Battle Mask"

Is that what it look like on the show - or has that feature not been shown yet.

Speaking of the show - those who pay more attention to it that I - can you comment on what is "Missing" regarding show accurate repaints with regards to Blue Sandy or other decos seen on the show - in relation to the warrior or Legion class.

For example shouldn't there be a Sandy deco Windblade & Optimus ?

Also I take it that white "Red Alert" deco for Sideswipe a non-show thing ? as I could kind of see him trying out an emergency deco to try to impress Strongarm.

-------

Speaking of which I was shopping in Tesco today and overheard someone refer to Strongarm's toy as "He" so I guess the Lipstick & Girlish Hips wasn't obvious enough to give them a Gender-clue there then.

Yeah, there's quite a few decos that never made it to the show. Red Alert, Ultra Magnus...

And then on the other side there's decos that didn't make it to the toyline despite the 'sandy'/'winter' colourations existing purely as an extremely badly veiled attempt - to an almost annoying degree - to sell more toys. Of the four that got these alternate decos - Optimus, Drift, Sideswipe and Windblade - only the former three got Winter decos... and then none of them, not even Optimus; got Sand decos. It's a very bizarre case where I can only assume the Sand decos are either coming much later or were scrapped too late for the show to scrap them too.

A shame, that sand deco was pretty neat. I'd buy Windblade in those colours (and give her a new head and weapons and make her into a Decepticon, admittedly, but still).

Bumblebee, Strongarm, and Sideswipe, as well as Drift again, got sand decos in the episode where Bee took them (and Grimlock, who didn't get a color change) to the ruins of the old Autobot base from TF: Prime.

I was just looking at some images and I noticed something odd - sometimes the scan codes on RID figures are not the ones they are supposed to be - yet I don't seem to recall ever hearing anyone complain about getting the wrong scan result "in-game"

[edit]

I checked again the scan stickers are different a lot more often that I ever thought they were.

Also it's nice to see that RID warrior Bludgeon was at Australian Toyare. There is also a couple of new onesteps too.

Oddly enough I found a Cyclone mini-Con (Forth) at a local Target this weekend, just one, but I got it for my son, I have no idea where it came from, I did not think Cyclone's were released in standard US Retail beyond Overload and the Mini-Con box sets. I know a few appeared in market 6 (TJ Maxx, Marshalls etc...) but when I saw them they were "marked down" from $9 to $7, for something that should have been only $5 at new price. The Forth I found at Target was indeed only $5.

Now my thought is...was this just a fluke, or is there hope these Cyclones are actually going to start appearing in regular quantities. With Combiner Force coming strong I would not think so, but its a shame most of these were never generally released.

Man. I just finished season 3 on NetFlix, and I am totally mad/bummed/sad that the Weaponizer Minicons never showed in the States. So much fun playability just wasted. They were all neat little characters and so much more functional then the previous Minicons. [-( :(
