Well, I stopped at Wal-Mart to try and find Wave 2 of WFC and had no luck. But then on my way home I decided to stop at Meijer to pick up some stuff I couldn't find and Wal-Mart and found the Wave 2 deluxes! I only picked up Ironhide because they only had one copy of him, but it was still nice to see all the figures in hand. And yeah, that basically confirmed that I will not be picking up the Prowl mold in any of it's forms. It's not bad per se, I just don't like the proportions of it though

Yeah, I realized the legs are a tad short, other than that it's a really good figure.

So somebody somewhere got a Voyager Starscream with the chest panel pinned in. My rage comes and goes but I also have some concern since I think that piece is all clear plastic.

It's not just the legs, but the width of the chest. It's just wide enough that it annoys me for some reason, but the arms then make it a little worse. I have no idea why it bothers me so much. But eh  At least the people who weren't happy with the CW version have a version actually designed to be Prowl, so that's good :D

Ok, so I just picked up Siege Megatron and, man, what a great figure. Sure, it's a little tricky to get everything lined up perfectly in tank mode but other than that, he is just amazing! Certainly the second best Megatron ever made, second only to MP-36.

The robot mode is fantastic. I love these proportions that would look weird anywhere else. The headsculpt is gorgeous. The plastic colors are perfect, and the battle damage actually enhances what would be a bland figure otherwise. The weapons are perfect, although a slight nitpick I have is that the sword came out slightly bent, so it restricts a little movement in tank mode, but otherwise is great.

Also, I hear alot of people complained about how the neck base doesn't sit on anything, but I've been roughhousing it since yesterday, and it is still tight, and doesn't flop around when I pose it.

Tank mode looks great, and I love how it looks like a hover tank that is just ready to deal some heavy bruising like Megatron should. The turning turret is a nice bonus, and after the mod where I removed the swords from the cannon, can go up now.

All in all, this is a great figure. Great articulation, quality, looks, transformation, and accessories. This figure needs Siege Prime though, so I will gladly pick him up when I find him.

You think it's the chest and arms but it's just the legs. It's a bit of an optical illusion. I thought the same thing too but then it clicked.

I found Soundwave at Wal-Mart and he's great. I wanted to find something else to use his pistol for, and I realized it's almost perfect for Megatron's over-the-shoulder gun barrel. His tank cannon was too long for that purpose, but Soundwave's pistol is a better length. It's a little more narrow than I'd like, but I'm really happy with it.

I'm sure someone else has already suggested that, but I hadn't seen it anywhere, so I'm spreading the word.

So a day or two ago, I had went to my local Walmart hoping to find something from wave 2. Target had not been fruitful for me for the past few weeks, & I only have one local Walmart Superstore that isn't just a grocery store.

My local Walmart was undergoing heavy reorganization, to the point that EVERYTHING in the store was in a different place. I kid you not, there was just a giant section of the store that had nothing in it. It was just a giant open space. I looked down the aisles trying to find anything, but the only thing they had in the Transformers section was a whole bunch of BotBots. As I'm about to leave, I notice out of the corner of my eye, leader Shockwave and Magnus. I look past the 2 leaders, as I already got my hands on both, and what do you know? There was a singular wave 2 figure. Chromia.

Due to the reorganization, I'm probably not going to be able to rely on Walmart for any figures coming soon, which does suck, but hey! I finally got my first Wave 2 Figure.

I got Starscream from Amazon today. He’s awesome! Great robot mode. The jet mode is so much better in hand than in pictures.

And he can pull off this pose.

So, I ordered Shockwave on Friday, and he arrived this morning. After having a few hours to play around with him, I must say, I like him . He's probably the best Shockwave we have outside of the masterpiece line. He has the least distracting battle damage I've seen, at least on my version, and the articulation is pretty great. I love his alt modes, they feel chunky and sizeable. The alt mode with the extra armour feels bigger than it is, like it looks like it'd be a huge warship or something.

His lil drone/sled thing is fun, and his inner robot mode is by far the best G1 Shockwave out there (again, aside from the MP). His 'Super-mode' has Doctor Octopus vibes to me, which I really like with Shockwave's Mad scientist tendencies. He's a lot bigger than I expected to, in hand both of his modes feel nice.

On the subject of his size, my thoughts feel a little more unclear. So, I apologise for more rambling. I wonder if the size/price issue people have with Shockwave is to do with a lack of nuance with Hasbro's pricing structure. There's a pretty hefty disparity between what a Voyager constitutes and what a Leader does. There's a little bit too much here I think for him to be a pure Voyager, but he's a little short and slim to be a Leader. I wonder if maybe this calls for a intermediate size range, maybe priced around £35, for figures like Shockwave who don't fit into either size class cleanly.

Anyways, Shockwave = gud.

All this time, we assumed he yelled, "Ow, my foot," because he had to shoot himself free of the closing hatch, but really, he just stepped on some Legos! We all know your pain, Starscream.

In other news, I finally saw some Wave 2 Deluxe figures at a local Walmart. Both were Chromia, and both boxes were severely damaged. Either they had been tenderized like a slab of bad steak or they had been drenched in water and put up wet. Either way, I decided not to pick either of them up and just keep waiting.

I watched his review the second the notification popped up, and after watching it, I gotta admit that MP Teacks is still worthy of the Masterpiece title IMO. Sure, he's hollow, and that backpiece likes to pop off, but his articulation is decent, vehicle mode looks great, and his robot mode is nice. Plus, he is the best Tracks we have, so he lives up to the reputation of "Masterpiece offers the best version of a character"(ignoring a few glaring exceptions :BOOM: )

Anyways, he does deserve a better figure than the RTS one, and I would love to see how they can capture his sleek robot mode and incorporate his most important features.

Considering we are doing cybertronian vehicle modes, hasbro could cut some corners with the vehicle mode to make the robot mode a bit more sleeker than his RTS version.

Running Change Found in Transformers War for Cybertron: Siege Starscream - Added Chest Pin

PostPosted: Mon Mar 18, 2019 5:20 pm
by D-Maximal_Primal
Thanks to Seibertronian Targetmaster Joe, we have word that a running change has come to the War for Cybertron Siege Starscream mold. This information, which comes to us from SephTheStoryteller on Twitter, shows that in place of a simple friction hinge for the top of the chest, which has been found on most of the first release versions of the Starscream mold, there has been a pin added.

Now it is important to note that originally, it seemed as though there was supposed to be a pin in the hinge and it was left off the Starscreams that have shown up in hand, as you can see in a video review below from Emgo316, so it appears to be a case of the manufacturers finally adding a pin that may have been meant to be there from the beginning. The pin now secures the chest piece to the main body, allowing you to transform the mold without popping off the chest every time.

A similar case of a pin added to a simple friction hinge was found in the Studio Series Bumblebee mold, where a pin was added to the Clunker Bumblebee version of the mold, potentially following wide spread issues with the original's car roof falling off of the figure.

Let us know what you think of this new running change in the comments section below!

EDIT: After no other confirmed reports, it seems this was a hoax.

Look, can we not jump to conclusions just yet? Who knows if either this is a modded and returned figure or the guy who tweeted it modded it himself and decided to be a dick and act like it's an official running change.

That's two pins and not a single pin. There's a HUGE difference between the two with this figure. As someone who has modified mine two days ago when I bought it, it's not that simple to just drill out holes on the grey armature and shove a single pin in. You also need to trim off some plastic along the inner collar piece that covers the hinge on the back of the neck plate while in tetra jet mode. You don't need to do this when putting two pins in.

It also looks like those pins are a bit too long and generally pins put in by the manufacturers tend to be on the short side as to not have metal jutting out of the figures for people to cut themselves on. If you were to push those pins in further so that they don't stick out the sides of the chest plate then you run back into the problem I had when putting a single pin in. They'll bump into the piece I talked about earlier that I had to cut off. So to me, it seems that this is someone's attempt at a mod.

And this is a picture of my mod that I posted on a few Facebook groups yesterday.

How fitting that when I saw saw this, I instantly thought of Emgo's review of the very figure that they made the improvement to it. It is reviewers like Emgo they brings up the topic with toy makers, the issue of Quality Control. I am glad to see the toy makers, are in fact, responding to them on this.

A thousand apologies, but it's been recently discovered that it’s entirely possible that it might not be a running change, but a modification by the OP themselves.

I searched another Walmart tonight, and found a single Wave 2 Deluxe SIEGE figure on the pegs. It happened to be Prowl. Yes, I bought him. I'm pretty satisfied with him as a new "Classics" figure for my collection. I don't have a problem with the proportions or height of the figure as some do. The transformation is intuitive and gets the job done perfectly to create that G1 Prowl silhouette. What the figure lacks is paint apps, or perhaps better paint app choices. He needed more colors than just some yellow on his pelvis and biceps. I like the effect of the painted silver parts under the clear plastic, but the figure would have popped even more had they used a light blue instead, a la the recent Anime Colors edition of Masterpiece Prowl. The headlights are barely painted with tiny little dabs of yellow above them. They really needed some silver (or light blue) paint there instead to break up the chest more. Maybe we'll get a special edition of Prowl with more premium paint apps in a few years? I'm hoping Reprolabels will do a good set for SIEGE Prowl. I might invest if I like what they come up with. At any rate, I'm looking forward to this mold as Bluestreak, Smokescreen, and Barricade.
