You know, his noggin looked a bit off, and I didn't know why at first. I just now noticed that the pylons/antennae aren't up.

Y'know that scene in Zootopia when the sloth gets the joke and his face slowly explodes into a huge open-mouthed smile? That was my reaction to seeing this.

It just hit me. This toy is basically giving Black Convoy everything he's ever wanted. Not only does he now have a Headmaster to counter Brave Maximus, but he also now has a flight mode to counter both God Magnus and God Fire Convoy.

Refresh my memory, were the previous Tokyo Toy Show exclusives sold at the Takara Tomy Mall site? I don't want to bother with TFSource or BBTS if I can get it for less through a forwarding service. I've gotten the previous Masterpieces from TFS, but I'd really like to try buying direct if I can this time.

My guess is the primary venue is that Toy Show, with leftovers sold on TakaraTomy Mall.

I have an intermediary/forwarding contact in Japan (well know among the collector's community and not BigInJapan who I also use) who gets me hard to find PVC figs (100% success rate). They wouldn't want to even touch Tokyo Toy Show exclusives(too expensive). Same with the special headmaster sets. Hence I was force to use RK.

The placement of the Combatron logo is pretty odd actually - everything else seems to be accurate to either the cartoon or the toy except for that. On both the toy and the cartoon, Scourge/Black Convoy had two Combatron faction symbols - one on each shoulder. But here he doesn't have any on his shoulders and instead has a tiny little one stuffed away in the corner of one of his window boobs. I guess Takara figured the shoulders on this mold were too small?

With all that sculpted detail, there doesn't appear to be enough flat surface area on the shoulders for Combatron Marks to have been printed on them.

It just struck me, but now that Takara has remolded the shoulders and forearms for Kup, that would make a possible Orion Pax repaint all the better! Though, if e-Hobby did decide to do an updated Orion Pax from this mold, I wouldn't fault them for using the original Hasbro tooling, just to make Orion a little more distinct from Kup, even though it would mean a bit less cartoon accuracy. What do you guys think?

I am wondering about the face. Unlike the standar titan masters, the leader titan masters all have way bigger faces. I havent tried yet but I dont think the head that came with stateside PMOP would work on deluxe Kup due to the change in scale. I should try when I get back home. Has anyone else tried that yet?

The head that came with Hasbro PM Prime doesn't even look like Cartoon Orion Pax anyway. Were Takara to make an Orion Pax at all, they'd want a cartoon-accurate head given their track record. Short of retooling a new face, of the preexisting TR head molds, Blurr's looks the most like Orion Pax's cartoon head.

PMOP's Titan Master face is the same size and scale as the Deluxe/Voyager Titan Masters because unlike the rest of the Leaders, it doesn't make up part of the actual head - a helmet comes over it. It's the only Leader Titan Master that would actually work on non-leaders.

Do you own it and compared them? Because i did and the face part of PMOP's titanmaster still takes up a much bigger chunk than any deluxe or voyager titan master. it doesnt scale with deluxes and voyagers, same as the rest of the leaders.

Check out the difference between him and doublecross for instance, you can see that double cross has a much smaller face part before his helmet begins

I'll have to check to be sure when I get home from work later this evening, but I think the "trick" with the Leader class Titan Masters is that their faces take up more of the available space, while their "helmets" are quite diminutive compared to the individual Titan Masters, Deluxes, and Voyagers. This allows the Leader class Titan Masters to still function with all of the other size classes and the Titan Master vehicles/beasts/weapons too, because even though the proportions between face and helmet are much different, the overall space taken up is about equivalent with any other Titan Master. The smaller helmets on the Leader Titan Masters are remedied by the use of larger helmets integrated into the Leader class figure proper, to bulk up the size of the head, keeping it in scale. The larger faces help facilitate this "trick." It's not perfect, but technically, all Titan Masters are compatible with all figures in Titans Return, even if to your eye, the proportions may be a bit skewed towards whatever size class the Titan Master in question was originally paired with.

Figured it might be that since it is used for PM OP's eyes. Still, it certainly works better than most Leader heads as it is a full head on its own rather than just a face that's useless without a helmet; and it might actually work better on a Voyager.

Still, it'd be best to try out the Orion Pax head on an actual Deluxe or Voyager to fully judge. Showing that it's a slightly bigger scale than most Deluxes by putting him on Sky Shadow doesn't really help illustrate anything, especially in the context of the conversation.

I'm at work, its all I had to compare with to go along with my question to the Wolfman. However I will say that then I did the comparison, all the leader heads, including the optimus one, have the exact same facial proportions. So if one leader head works on a deluxe, then they all do, and vice versa.

If Takara went through the trouble of sculpting a new face for Kup/Char (and the main 4 HMs), and were going to make an Orion Pax, would it not be safe to assume they would just sculpt a new face?
