They are made of metal like the G1s are. The big difference aside from the missiles are that you have to put the stickers on the wings yourself. I believe they were pretampo'd back in the day.

Platinum Edition Astrotrain and Blitzwing for pre order on amazon

The G1 reissues making up the Platinum line from Hasbro this year had a puzzling distribution worldwide, with different exclusive retailers in different countries. While many have found eventual retail release internationally, the ever so puzzling Platinum Astrotrain and Blitzwing set did not have a big box retailer distributing it in the US yet. Well, Primeultimus has informed us that Amazon will be distributing this set in the states. It is currently on preorder on the site for $69.99 and free shipping (within the US). The release date given is August 1st 2015.

The last three Seekers, Thrust has his missile launchers gutted. And the decal sheet is slightly different than the original as they are all in one decal sheet.Which is slightly low resolution printing fonts. Aside from that, all are the same.

As an update to the news piece reporting on the release date for the Hasbro Transformers Platinum Edition Astrotrain and Blitzwing set via Amazon.com, fellow Seibertron.com fan Alfonso Chavez has forwarded an email received from the retailer confirming an earlier release date of July 14-18 (instead of August)! Check out some proof below.

I got an update from Amazon about the preorder for the Platinum Edition Astrotrain and Blizwing. The delivery date has been pushed up. Here's a screenshot as proof from my phone. It was sent this morning.

What do you think is fair? $150 territory?

Indeed. I'm thinking $200 might be fair, but would hope for $150. Maybe Hasbro shocks us with around $100

I dont find 100-130 out of line. Predaking was that price and that is as much bang for your buck (if not more) than Trypticon.

Oh, don't get my hopes up.... :-s

(But you do make a good argument. I would counter with the Insecticons and their crazy price, but then you could counter with the Coneheads....)

Yeah, the pricing has been really odd on these ever since the Platinum editions started.

If that Trypticon shows up at Target retail for less than $200, there is a 0.00% chance of me walking away from it. Damn. That's a great and unexpected store exclusive. Good job, Target.

It's only a matter of time, my friend.

For some obvious reasons, they will never release a Platinum edition of G1 Jetfire with the body armor in glorious red chrome. :-(

Hey, they found a way to store the new accessories for Perceptor's robot mode:

Of all the G1 reissues, this is the one I have most anticipated all year. I hope Walmart gets him.

Also, just curious, is this guy considered a triple changer?

I noticed he has a sigil on what serves as the magnifying lens. The original didn't

And yes, triple changer he is imho. Transforms from Robot to microscope to mobile weapon/phase ray weapon and back.

Yeah, sorry Sabr, I should have been more precise. Walmart got the seekers here, which are at Target in the States. They were also the ones to have Predaking in Canada for (80$US  ), so I am hoping they get this pack as well.

Differences between G1 Trypticon and Hasbro G1 Reissue Platinum Trypticon

TF Fan Kelvin, from the Talk Transformers Facebook Page, has made a quick overview of the very subtle changes found on the recent reissue of G1 Trypticon which was "announced" at SDCC 2015:

* G1 Trypticon's eyes are gold chrome (vacuum metallised), reissue's are metallic gold stickers
* G1 Trypticon's lower ramp has two small 'bumps,' these are absent on the reissue
* Reissue Trypticon has various legal blurbs and logos tampographed on the toy which are absent on the G1 figure

For those wondering, the other use of the mold, Gigastorm, also had gold sticker eyes.

It's good to know... I took the plunge and bought him. Didn't think I'd have had as much fun with trypticon as I'm havin. Build quality is very good, much much better than reissue metroplex.

My main issue with him like so many g1 toys is the accessory storage. There isn't one mode that uses all the pieces at once.

Maybe some enterprising 3rd party developer might devise a way of connecting all his accessories to the tank or dino mode (which I think most peeps will have him displayed as)

I don't think that is possible as the radar array accessories are only functional when you split him open as battle station mode.

Brunt is also like that, splits up during the mode I mentioned.

My G1 Hasbro Trypticon had stickers for the eyes. So maybe the chrome eyes were a Takara deal?
