that's why I included the Encore stuff: maybe not an update, but a reissue, like the RiD Magnus/Prime set.

They may not be new, and they might also not be better, but we are getting a version of all the commanders someway or another

Lio Convoy's iconography pretty much begins and ends in Japan, as he was the star leader of the good guys from one of the TV series that aired in that country, and of all Beast Era leaders best represents the particular heroic leader archetype that Japan views as ideal.

Though, while he sounds plain as paper to Westerners, he did get more interesting later in the series when Lio Junior was introduced and brought in some drama with Lio Convoy being unexpectedly thrust into a "deadbeat dad" role, and even later still when he and Galvatron would begin to partake in civil debates over their conflicting philosophies and ideologies.

I will wait to news until we have an official source but for discussion, the price is said to be 20000 Yen. While its not the craziest price, it is enough for me to no longer want a figure I was kinda interested in (I do not know the character all that well).

Unless he comes with a trailer for £150 he had better be one big lion.

We still don't have a full list of the extras he comes with which will be the ultimate decider if the price is justifiable for many. Though given the recent price increases on the masterpiece line I'm not suprised really

Yeah, this sounds par for recent course. Hound may very well be the final official MP I purchase. 3rd party is now cheaper than official. We will see, though. If Takara manages to knock one out of the park...... but given the new Bumblebee design, and Prime’s price, I think those days are over.

That number combination doesnt make any sense. Lets wait a bit for the real listing.

New pics of MP Lio Convoy, comparing him with the original 1998 toy, as well as some old Lucky Draws and original concept art sketches from way back then.

In light of Lio's default colour palette, they do seem to have missed out on one redeco in particular...

I'm thinking that its a bad camera angle, but is it smaller than the original?

I thought the same. I think it is. The base body, minus shoulder kibble, looks a lot smaller.

You mean that movie that so obviously ripped off from one of Japan's biggest icons (who actually was the original inspiration for Convoy's being a white lion) but which Disney will never admit to having done? ;)

Bingo! :APPLAUSE:

The "completely original idea", that was the first Disney film to draw from NO source material... ;)

It is, but the original was an in-articulate brick that towered over all of his compatriots and scaled poorly with virtually every other figure in the line. This new one is better scaled, better proportioned, better articulated, and even sizes well with the original 1999 Big Convoy toy.

Yeah, that label wouldn't actually come until a year later with the release of A Goofy Movie (story-wise, at least). :D

Indeed. After I watched a documentary on Kimba The White Lion, was the first time I realised Disney are a terrible company. The only reason they didn't get sued for not acknowledging the source material they stole from with The Lion King, was because they have better lawyers... sickening.

Weird to think, Gigatron, the Ten Former, came out a year after Big Convoy and is one of the most articulated multi-formers HasTak have ever made :???:

FYI, for those curious, the first beast Wars MP KO was released and it is terrible beast-wars-mps-are-now-being-ko-d-p2035036.php#p2035036

While the initial KOs were passable for people who didnt mind having unofficial figures, its now becoming a less favourable option, even for those inclined to purchase them. Recent MPs have been having more parts than ever before, leading to higher prices. While the KOs of said MPs (Sunstreaker, Dinobot) are cheaper than the original, they are still more costly than previous KOs and since they are far more inferior to the original product than previous KOs, it seems the MP KO market may no longer be viable for fans since the sub par product (ie KO Sunstreaker or Dinobot) will truly feel subpar.

basically, with these KOs you are now paying less for a lesser product rather than getting something of decent quality for cheap.

Well, Kapows got preorders up for MPEXPENSIVE Prime £365 non mint box, £375 mint box. Makes Unicron look like a bargain and the Siege Omega a no brainer. Really cant justify that for prime, had a hard enough time rationising the downgraded MP10 from MP1 to go with the new scaling.
