I'd actually love to see that. The quality of the last Brutireissue was awful. And these newest reissues have had top notch QC.

Part of the problem there is mold wear. Let's see, the Combaticons have been used how many times?
* Hasbro G1 Bruticus
* Takara G1 Bruticus (counting separately because of Onslaught)
* Battle Gaia
* G2 Bruticus
* Car Robots Baldigus
* RiD Ruination
* Urban Camo Ruination
* Desert Camo Ruination
* Encore Bruticus
Kinda a lot. So it's no wonder the molds are worn. However, even if Hasbro did do another reissue and refresh the molds into the bargain... I would still be inclined to save up for the Encore version instead. Unless Hasbro had a change of heart about the base-mode launcher and actually included the darn thing instead of the dummy filler piece.

I'm not trying to argue against this things legitimacy (since now it's confirmed), but I would like to point out that there's fan made custom boxes and reproduction boxes all over the interwebs. If someone wanted to fake this, they could. And it doesn't even mean someone was trying to "hoax" us. Just sayin.

Also, as I said before, Hoaxes. Are. Also. Done. For. Pranks. Profit is not a necessary part of the equation.
Not that it matters in this particular case since it's legit, but your logic was still faulty 1984forever.

I think you're underestimating trolls on the net who would revel in everyone believing it, then just pulling the rug out from everyone. Still I'm not convinced that the box won't change as I suspect that these are meant for spring release (judging by Astrotrain is spring 2020) they still have a couple of weeks to clean the box up and then hit production.

Well, I'm not. I was pointing out that 1984forever was completely ignoring that possibility.

So, these are just stacked on the shelves instead of hung from pegs? Then the box design is f***ing stupid. The whole smegging point of having the top flap is to hang the box from a peg! If they're not doing that then the flap is a needless counterproductive protrusion! And of course it means you can't cut it off to allow for better stacking and storage without ruining the art on the back... Nice planning, Hasbroken!

The flap has been a staple of G1 toy boxes since the beginning. The G1 Optimus w/ trailer box even had one.

Doesn't make it any less dumb to put it on boxes where it won't be used, Sabrblade.

One of the points of these reissues is to recreate the original look of the original packaging as closely as possible, back flaps and all, regardless of any and all opinions about said original packaging.

Uh huh. And as I said, pulling off this particular prank has a monetary deterrent to it. My intuition is more than enough to carry the weight that my logic can’t lift.

He's basically saying that this would be costly to pull off

ZeroWolf wrote:I would be all down for a invisible trailer mode :lol: but let the speculation begin on who else will be reissued...Reflector? Soundwave with Cassettes? Octane?

Soundwave with casettes makes most sense to me. Although it would probably be just soundwave with the casettes purchased seperately to keep prices of individual releases affordable.

And its cool about this prime. I too was not sure at first, especially since there have been fake box reproductions in the past but what sealed the deal for me was the bilingual packaging. Wont pick it up though, I already have G1 Prime with an upgrade kit (and trailer) and I dont have space for another one.

Also, to whoever wants a Megatron reissue, they are plentiful. If you can read this message, then that means you have internet access, and can easily find one to purchase.

@Will that makes sense

@ZeldaTheSwordsman I'm not sure to be honest, I think he's referring to the cost of putting a box like that together but he's the best to ask for specifics.

The biggest cost would be the money blown on printer ink, assuming nothing was used from an existing box. And some people are willing to indulge.

Guess it may be a good way of getting a cheaper G1 Prime, though there are other options. Its not like G1 prime is hard to come by at a reasonable Price.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Optimus-Prime- ... 3280950644

Though some versions can be stupidly expensive to procure, looking at you Book Style Convoy.

Still happy I got my Encore #01 Convoy for $80 shipped from TFSource back in the day.

Always liked the original packaging and tho the book style packaging of recent reissues is cool, I appreciate the recent attempts to get the g1 feel back...

And those flaps aren’t that daft, it allowed for box stacking back in the day without giving up box real estate to branding...

Prime is facing the right direction in the box, clearly a hoax. ;)

I'm really excited to get one of these with long stacks and happy that I don't have a third trailer to stash in storage. I just hope they got the plastic right and he isn't pink like the 25th anniversary edition.

Image

What I really want is for him to have the Music Label cartoon head, but from what I can see on top of the box it doesn't appear to be.

Image

If Starscream can have a new head then why not Prime?

For a prank, that would be chump change for what was already done.
The most extreme ones being made by millionaires or corporations as some promo material. Some backfired badly obviously.

Still, the lulz are priceless!

Personally, the BEST pranks are made by anonymous people. 4chan's /b/ and /pol/ being champions. Latest example being 4chan /pol/ successfully convinced the Anti Discrimination League and the mainstream media that the OK hand sign is a "white supremacy" symbol! :lol:
This timeline is completely insane. That's a prank that was worth MILLIONS of dollars in wasted media space and work hours! Some even lost their job over this stupidity.
….Hey... That was one prank that was actually free to start. Just a few keystrokes on a keyboard. 8-}

I hope this Optimus has the artwork-accurate yellow eyes. Would still be awesome with the blue though. :)

Also Astrotrain for the win! This is gonna be insane in the membrane, insane in the train! ;)
