I didn’t know this, but really hope it’s true…
And other than Swoop, I’m really anxious to find out who else will be released in SS86.
As far as characters seen in the movie, there can’t be very many who are actually in need of an update.
Along with Sunstreaker, I’d love to see Soundwave, Astrotrain, & Shockwave in SS86.

All of them have already been done, and brilliantly. Appart some kinks in Astrotrain, the other two are perfect. Unless you ask for some reissue under the SS86 label? My guess is Soundwave (Netflix edition, of course) could be a "leader" if they toss into the box the core class SS86 Red Frenzy I guess.

In one video, Mark Maher was saying he wanted to 'bring Soundwave up to Blaster size' which made me spit out my drink. I point it out to say to that he has him on his radar and wants to make him inaccurate in size.

Maybe touch up Sideswipe to look more like the Lambo of the original toy?
All the Kingdom Sideswipe toy really needs is a spoiler accessory for his car mode.

Not an accessory, it has to be built in.

Not likely to happen as that would require a complete retool of the leg portion of the figure to incorporate the spoiler and probably a tab and hinges to have it fold away.

A removable spoiler seems more feasible since it just requires a couple of peg holes on the back of the car. It's an easier change to make.

Also, don't think Sideswipe was in the 1986 movie at all. Not even in background cameo like Sunstreaker had.

I think there's a bit of confusion going on here.

The Kingdom Sideswipe/Red Alert mold already has two little notches near the back of its vehicle mode where a new spoiler accessory could attach to, so there wouldn't be any need for retooling.

This overhead shot of Kingdom Red Alert shows a good look at the notches (ignore the Siege Sideswipe toy next to it):

Image

Now, if such a spoiler were to split in half and stay attached to Sideswipe's leg in robot mode, it would end up on the back of the legs and have no need to be hidden away in robot mode.

Just as it sat behind Sideswipe's feet in his animation model:

The spoiler existed in the car model for the show. It just kind of absorbs into the legs when he transforms, so is almost not visible in robot mode at all.

Also, looking at Golden Disk Sideswipe, the panels where the spoiler would go, fold into the leg to allow for the knee bend, so there's no way to attach a non-removable spoiler there.

Also, there's the question of how close to the actual Lambo they want to get. Hasbro may simply be avoiding getting close to the IP infringement line with the spoiler or actually requiring a license to use the actual car model.

Third party kits like the Nonnef one solve the problem by having a split spoiler attach to the outside part of the legs and fold back to that point. It would require retooling and additional parts, but it's not impossible. I don't think Hasbro would take that approach, though. SS86 Ironhide had common engineering with the Earthrise version but was a new mold, and I would expect the same thing here if they decided to revisit Sideswipe.

I’m not opposed to another Sideswipe being made, but I’m also pretty okay with the ER version.
I personally don’t see a SS86 figure happening for him though— he wasn’t even in the movie.

Just following up on this. My local Target just got another case of LE Wave 1 Voyagers, pic taken this morning.

Maybe its just my geographic area? But I can find Voyagers easily. Even WM has started stocking them again (Saw Twincast & Metalhawk at a WM on Tuesday), but I can't find any Legacy Evolution Core or Deluxe in store if my life depended on it. (thankfully it dosen't).

My Walmart's wave progress has ground to a stop. Core, Deluxe are stuck at Wave 1, only Voyager is Jhiaxus and Leader Galvatron with the occasional Blitzwing rounds it up. Target is fairing a bit better with actually having Evolution Voyagers, but nothing else.

Yup. a removable spoiler is pretty much the only way I see Hasbro doing this.

Shapeways has a few spoilers available to 3D print already:

No way to feasibly have it be built in as required by Chuckdawg

And so far, there's only ONE commander a year.

But it could change if the Studio Series line start making commanders as well.

I managed to secure almost all the remaining figures from Legacy Wave 2 this week, including the 3 cores, Crashbar, and Crosscut. I only need Shrapnel to finish the wave now.

As for the figures, here are some thoughts:

Thundercracker: same basic thing, but I am glad to have my favorite seeker.

Nemesis Prime: I adore the axe, and Nemesis has kinda become a favorite of mine lately, so it's nice t have the evil guy. I didn't get Optimus, so this is my first time with the mold.

Grimlock: tail and legs do be chonky, but I adore him. The core dinobots are coming together well!

Crosscut: i was going to skip, but decided to get him to complete the Diaclone shelf, seeing as how my T30 one is committed to the Lost Light shelf. He's neat, the silver and red colors are nice on him.

Crashbar: he is a smidge smaller than expected in robot mode, but I like his transformation and his alt mode. my Dinobot/Junkion shelf will enjoy his company.

Did the same with my core Dino's. In the legendary words of Jim Ross " He's like a one legged man in an arse kickin' contest" ;)

I actually picked up a 2nd Grimlock and Sludge from Amazon. Just need a 2nd Slag. I'm going to give them as gifts to a friend who has a 5 year old son who loves robots and dinosaurs.

First Look at Miner Megatron and Possible Voyager Junkion

We have images of 2 interesting generations type toys that have just been leaked onto the internet. Both these figures are either in production or undergoing review in China, which is when we get leaks like on this site. However, unlike the Prime toys we previously posted, one of these isn't as far along in production.

Below you will see images of a the Siege Megatron toy in a miner deco (like when he was chilling with his buddy Impactor in the café) as well as what is believed to be the voyager class Junkion figure we'll get in Legacy. The plastic used is test shot plastic though, so not the final colours/deco. And there's no head on either of them. Let us know if these interest you.

The Junkion has molded chains wrapped around its forearms that kinda make it look like a prisoner.

It also has little dual-blasters sticking out from its wrists, Wolverine-claw-style.

Whatever its name turns out to be, it looks like a pretty tough customer built for war.

Really hoping they use the alternate Megatron head that was on the Arctic Camo Deco Megs. It resembles the character moreso than the typical one we see on this mold.

Video Review of Legacy Shrapnel Shows How you Can Make Sure you don't Have Mismatched Parts

PostPosted: Mon May 01, 2023 10:56 pm
by william-james88
So it turns out the insect legs on Legacy Shrapnel, which can double as blasters, are not symetrical. They are instead two slightly different molds with distinct numbers molded onto them and the chance for them to be mismatched is possible since they look almost identical (just like how few people initially noticed that their POTP voyager Elita 1 feet were missassembled). The review below from Chuckdawg1999 highlights what a metched set looks like and the numbered combinations for a matched set.

chuckdawg1999 wrote:Legacy Evolution continues the updates to the Insecticons with Shrapnel. Shrapnel is a solid toy all around, with fun transformation, and a solid insect mode. I find myself enjoying the figure more than I did Kickback. If you see Shrapnel, grab one to complete your Insecticon collections.

Mine's mismatched, didn't notice it until chuckdawg's video. Doesn't bother me enough to do an exchange EVEN IF there's one to be found at GameStop Canada where I ordered mine. Just not gonna happen at my only local brick & mortar, and it's out of stock online.

Well, I see Shrapnel already has 2 different 3P upgrade kits on ebay, one of which address this issue with articulated bug legs that free up the official ones to be back- mounted guns, but I think we can look forward to a 3rd 3P weapon set that replaces them with guns more accurate to some of his fictional appearances that can also tack onto the official splinter-grenade launcher.

Thanks for the warning, Chuck! Since the 3 non-Deluxe Insecticons are also inherent troop-builders, a lot of collectors might just keep buying until they get matched legguns, and not be in a hurry to resell or trade, so his price could indeed skyrocket-rocket.
