For "robots in disguise," the Autobots sure do have a lot of conspicuous alt modes

But if you see any kind of vehicle, even one very much out of place, would you say it can turn into a robot?

Got my Golden Disk Mutant Tigatron!

Have some pictures.
Also, I would have liked to compared him with the regular voyager Tigatron, but I never ever saw the damn thing in store so have the "vintage" one instead.

Seeing how the Mutant Head looks more like a mask than a proper head unto itself, I just had an idea for how to headcanon this figure outside of its online bio backstory:

This could be what became of a Tigatron who really did quit the Beast Wars in "Law of the Jungle" and never rejoined the Maximals. The death of Snowstalker and the lack of receiving sympathy and convincing from Optimus hardened him to the point that he became something of a wandering protector of nature, an isolated creature who would strike down any who would do harm to the planet, his home, with little mercy. He'd show the Maximals some, but Predacons would be dealt without hesitation. The Mutant Head would represent a mask he'd wear to hide his face and inner shame behind his colder exterior that, ironically, is now colored to better match the wrath of Nature's Fury.

Surprised nobody else posted this. Got an email around 1am from Pulse saying the Behold, Galvatron set arrived early and will be shipping soon!

A Lambo is just barely possible as a fire chief's fast-response car. I don't find it quiiite as much of a stretch as a Lambo being a patrol car (especially a Lambo with a supercharger - looking at you, Cordon). And making Red Alert a Fire Chief car did further distinguish him from Prowl, the police car the line already had (and the most realistic option amongst the Diaclone police-deco toys, because Japanese PDs actually did use Datsun Fairladies as patrol cars).

Mirage, Wheeljack, and Smokescreen are easily the worst though (especially Mirage).

Got Cyclonus in this week (he was a birthday gift), and am quite happy to have him.

I very much appreciate how much better this view is compared to his 2008 counterpart.

Ooh, very interesting headcanon.
Somewhat related, I personally like to headcanon Optimus Primal and BW Megs' "mutant head" masks as war masks rather than actual mutant noggins.

Similarly, T-Wrecks's mutant head was treated as a battle mask on his original toy's appearance in The Wreckers issue #2.

For what it's worth, I read years ago that back in the 80s Japanese Fire and Police commanders used sports cars for fast response times. Not sure if that still happens now.

Well, Takara did also use a Lambo as a police car in the Car Robots line back in 2000.

So I ended up with a weird deal after the fact on Amazon for the Grimlock/Mirage set. I ended up getting it for free. I only noticed this because I needed to return my Slammer that I pre-ordered using the wishlist trick back in May, just before I ordered the Grimlock/Mirage set. When I was searching for the order to make the return, I noticed it said refund issued for Grimlock/Mirage.

The only thing I can think of is that my package missed a scan somewhere and never showed up as delivered in Amazon's system and after some period of time, they automatically issued a refund. It is sitting in the basement, so it definitely made it here.

Makes me wonder how many other orders I might have gotten free after the fact.

It's probably a one off. I had an odd experience about 3 years ago, of course Amazon may have been less organized back then. I got a rather expensive item from a 3rd part seller on Amazon. It arrived without incident, but Amazon never showed it as "delivered". I never got a refund, but it was odd it just never changed status.

I know a lot of fan consensus points to The Movie and beyond. As the moment when the "robots in disguise" motif was abandoned. But there were a lot of Questionable altmodes before that...

I managed to get the Sideswipe/Skywarp for $7 thanks to a warehouse deal and a gift card at Amazon, and I got a couple of Cores for my birthday this weekend, so here is a photodump of them plus pipes, since they are all proving to be plenty of fun.

And have a couple of Iaconus with Megatron as well. I will continue to say Iaconus is my favorite Kingdom figure, period.

Looks like Terrorsaur will be with me Thursday Feb 3rd. Amazon updated my delivery date. So I am getting him and two marvel legends the same day not to shabby

My Terrosaur is estimated to come at March 8 or 11 from Amazon.com.

If an Amazon.ca listing for Terrosaur pop in before that, I'll cancel that preorder just like I did with Mutant Tigatron.

My Mutant Tigatron came in last night. Looks awesome. Love him. Can't wait for the White one to show up.

Will head cannon this one to be an evil version and stick him with Megs since he has a distinct lack of minions at this point.

Congrats.

Mine is still set for February 14 though. Hope Amazon does not cancel it like they did with my White Tigatron. Which is why he's coming much later than Golden Disk Tigatron did.

Hopefully G2 Prime is is kept on the back burner for a bit longer so I can save up some money in the mean time. Having them ship this early messed a bit with the finances.

That's why I have a separate account just for Transformers. It gets replenished with every paycheck and I can keep track easily of what gets charged. In case of an early shipment, I can just transfer emergency funds.

My Terrorsaur has arrived. Just opened him up and haven't transformed him yet. His pterosaur head is really nice. It's so characterful and expressively detailed. However, the end piece of his left wing pops off super easily. The joint connecting it to the rest of the wing has no friction to hold it in place, where the joint on his right wing is just fine.

As for his Golden Disk accessory, some have rightfully complained about it being the Vok disk instead of the Voyager disk. But, the thing is, this particular disk is both and neither. One side is the Vok glyphs, while the other side is the Voyager record labeled "The Sounds of Earth". It's like someone either couldn't make up their mind and decided to make a weird fusion of the two disks, or just plain goofed and simply assumed that the Vok disk had the same Sounds of Earth side as the Voyager disk instead of glyphs on both sides.

EDIT: His inner wing joints are also misassembled upside-down. Luckily, these can be popped off gently and reassembled right-side up.

He also has two tiny silver spike accessories that are wrapped in thin paper in the back of his cardboard shell. Do not forget to retrieve these before discarding the packaging as they complete the look of his robot arms.

I've transformed him to robot mode. Other than the aforementioned loose wing joint, everything seems to be in order, structurally.

Although, there are two tiny paint chips on my Terrorsaur's robot face, right below his mouth, making his face look scuffed or bruised since it's red plastic under white paint.
