I don't know...with those feet hanging off the back, I din't know if ER Ironhide is screen-accurate enough. Unless maybe they've added accessories to hide those too...

Being SS, he should come with considerable... battle damage. Hopefully SS Prowl will have the appropriate eye and mouth effects parts too.

I do hope it's an entirely new mold with better engineering.
Especially if we get a proper transformation with no partsforming at all.

AND IF BOTH RATCHET AND IRONHIDE ARE NON-EXCLUSIVE WIDE RELEASES FOR ONCE. :-(

If it's identical to the Amazon one I'll pass, but if they took some notes from the eBay upgrade kits and fixed the feet I'll buy it. If it's an entirely new mold that solves all of the shortcomings of the original then even better. If it's just the Amazon figure in gray with effect parts I'd probably buy it, but it would definitely piss off a few fans.

As a guy who bought both Ironhide and Ratchet I feel torn.

On the one hand I feel ripped off. On the other, as a fan, I kinda hope they fix all the problems those releases had. Even with new feet the figures are still pretty bad.

If it's just a re-release I guess I feel fine about it. I bought them when they came out, so little is lost for me.

I put off opening my Earthrise Ironhide & Prowl for a rainy day and then watched the price go up. I was badly torn about whether to keep them, and finally decided, 'this won't be the last generations versions of these characters we get'. Sold it for $150 and bought a 3p IDW Prowl with part of the money. I'd been feeling seller's remorse, but now I have some validation!

Too bad I also sold Bluestreak.

But, should they be regular or unique damaged molds. Characters such as Wheeljack, Windcharger and Prowl were only in The Movie to die and/or as corpses. So maybe they should be released as such.

Didn't we already get Jazz in the movie line though?

Yes, which is accurate. Jazz was fine and basically unharmed in The Movie...

Too bad I also sold Bluestreak.

I was always annoyed that Ironhide and Ratchet were sold in twin-packs with other figures I didn't really want, but I bought both anyway just for Ironhide and Ratchet. I've never had Lifeline on my main Autobot display, and I recently swapped out Prowl for Jazz (Prowl has never been my favourite Datsun, and I would've passed on him if he wasn't part of a twin-pack with Ironhide), but I more than likely will sell Ironhide and Prowl once we get more concrete information about this Studio Series Ironhide, if the listing is indeed real.
Bluestreak is still availabe on Ebay for reasonable prices (or at least my idea of reasonable), and Smokescreen for a bit more, but I want to avoid impulse buying figures I don't really need for my collection like I did for a good chunk of this year. Bluestreak, Trailbreaker, Sunstreaker, Huffer and Inferno have never been characters I've cared all that much about, but now I want them all as decoration more than anything else.

I can't think of any added accessories to come with Ironhide that would bump him up from Deluxe to Voyager status, unless this is an all new toy and not just a further WFC retool. I mean he was in literally 2 scenes. Could it be the moonbase 1 console or the chair on the shuttle he was sitting in?

Maybe she swappable parts to make him "dead", ala SS86 Kup, but I would think that would require an all new toy since the WFC version isn't really meant to come apart.

I'm struggling to balance incompatible priorities with my 'G1' collection. My priority had been to get everything as IDW as possible, but then things started spilling over the lines.

So, I'd also like to have the best looking, most poseable version of every Sunbow/Marvel character, but I'd also like to avoid having more than one of each mold (exception for seekers, Refractor, etc.). So, if they do an 86 Ironhide as a new mold, that'll be great for me b/c I'm happy with the Earthrise Ratchet for G1 Ratchet.

Same logic went into the decision to sell Bluestreak. I kept Siege Bluestreak b/c, really, he doesn't look that alien (he looks like a near-future Mercedes) so I can have him, ER Smokescreen, and IDW Proql together in the same battle scene and feel like I have all the characters but in distinct forms. BUT, when I decided to do that I underestimated the allure of completing the season 1/season 2 Autobots in a cohesive aesthetic.

Edit: I skipped on Earthmode Red Alert too, I guess.

Sounds exactly like what Hasbro does in their Marvel and Star Wars lines. Fans complain, but there are always more happy than sad of the new avsilability. And it sells.

This is pretty much me, there were several characters I didn't care that much for thus didn't feel the need to buy the figure. Yet there were a few that turned out really nice looking and the display almost feels incomplete without those certain few. I probably never will get Trailbreaker as I was always a Hoist guy, as well as Sunstreaker, Huffer, Skids etc. they just aren't needed in my case.

Due to space issues I do try to keep it to the core Autobots only, but a few of the outliers do appeal to me for some reason. Such that I went and hunted down Legends Seaspray, and kind of want Beachcomber too. So I have to really pump the breaks at times.

Will we see a new Prowl mold when the inevitable SS86 Prowl comes out? Maybe reversible eye colors like the MP Grimlock?

Silly question, but is it normal for toys of movie red-shirts to be released? :-?

Could be interesting. I pre-ordered/bought the ER Prowl/Ironhide set, so I didnt pay ebay price and a re-release doesnt bother me. Dont think Id be interested though. But what does interest me is the possibility of a SS86 Brawn this opens up. Brawn is one of my favs and he really could use an updated Cliff/Bee/Pipes type deluxe. Now that I would love and could throw money at lol.

My definition of "core Autobots" never stops fluctuating. To start with it was just the G1 versions of the five Autobots that were in the 2007 movie, but then I extended it to include other characters I like such as Wheeljack and Sideswipe, and then I was like "Well if I've got Sideswipe should I get Sunstreaker too?", then "This line-up has too much red and white and not enough other colours, I should get Hound and Mirage to add more colour", then "I can't forget the Dinobots", then "Arcee too, but she can't be the only Floro Dery creation amongst a load of 1984 Autobots so I should get Hot Rod and Springer", and then I have to apply a lot of self-discipline before it spirals out of control and I end up with the entire 1984 to 1986 G1 Autobot line-up.

Back to Studio Series 86, the last time I was at my nearest branch of Smyths Toys I noticed they had a decent number of Gnaws in their Transformers section. I always assumed that because Gnaw is a popular army builder it would be hard to find even one of them, but there were plenty there. The Earthrise Quintesson Judge is also shelf-warming in this store, so the idea of a Quintesson shelf with a few Judges and a load of Sharkticons crossed my mind. Even if I don't get a Judge, I could always get some Sharkticons and have them as part of my Deceptison shelf.

Yes

I suspect the reason why both he and ratchet were not released individually is because they already surpassed the deluxe class they originated from. In Seige, they were the biggest deluxes in the line. And then in Earthrise, they were given the big sled accessory, already bumping them up. A few parts effects ala voyager Hot Rod and voila, voyager SS 86 Ironhide.

In general? Not just in Transformers? I know RotF Sideways is one, and half of the 2007 Movie Decepticons, created just to die
