Not a fan of mashups of different incarnations - at least speaking of toys, nothing wrong with that for a FanFiction or a FanArt. But collecting something like this sounds kind of pointless.

Literally the only appeal of Sideburn to me was that he turned into an actual Dodge Viper, so this is a big miss for me, assuming they plan on a repaint of this (which they almost certainly do). I know that the rights cost extra for actual car models, but it really does suck a ton of the appeal out of these for me. Probably why I prefer movie/Studio Series stuff at this point.

Legacy in general has been a big whiff for me, sadly. I grabbed the handful of Beast Wars releases and have otherwise not bothered with any of these. I just don't get who they're trying to appeal to with all these toys that don't really look like the characters they're supposed to be.

Add to that, the squaring off of the RID shapes... When the whole point and design philosophy of the RID 2001 autobots is that they're essentially "Beast Wars, but transplanted to car alt modes".

I'm not really a fan of Cyberverse, so I don't have much attachment to Shadow Striker, but I can definitely see why Cyberverse fans wouldn't like this. I'm taking the chest, legs and shield as a guarantee that Side Burn will definitely happen one day, hopefully X-Brawn and Prowl aren't too far behind. I may skip this version of Shadow Striker, but if she's ever repainted into the original Shadow Striker and put in a twin-pack with Roulette, I may pick that up.

Having had time to process, they definitely need to retool that car into something more Sideburn-ey.

That car mod his just sad.

The hood, the chest and the legs kind of confirm there's a sideburn in the future out of that. I just don't see how they can just take that car mode and paint it a slightly lighter shade of blue, give it some flames and call it day.

The front definitely needs a more swept Viper GTS hood at least.

Also, I really hope we do get a good retool for Sideburn because my super Sideburn is falling apart. All the translucent plastic is cracking. The Roof balljoint is totally broken.

I really don't understand Hasbro on this.

That v mode just doesn't look like it wants to go together. Side Burn was my first TF and I want to have a generations take on him th as t more fits the style. Bit this looks like amess. I am fine with accepting that we can't get the licensing for a Viper, but the obvious gapping is terrible.

And then we have Shadowstriker. Given the character they are going for was a patchwork abomination rebuilt by Shockwave, the toy for Axelgrease makes a MUCH better Shadowstriker IMO. It's a better car mode, for no other reason than it actually fits together well, and the colors are close ish already.

If I get this, it's only going to be for a head swap. Otherwise I will pass and hope that the new Side Burn is a better Retool. But I am not optimistic

Never saw Cyberverse, but was tempted to get this based on how nice the character model looked and, let's face it, we need more female Decepticons. But I don't need a purple Sideburn. And I just can't unsee this as Sideburn.

Might need an updated regular Sideburn, though. This looks like an amazing update of that toy.

All this talk about Sideburn made me realize, we dont have any Car Robots/RiD representation in Legacy yet. Hopefully that will soon change. I just had a crazy thought though....and I know a LOT of fans would probably hate this. But since TT did Grand Maximus back in 2018, Hasbro could roll that mold out a 3rd time as Brave Maximus/ Rid "Fortress Maximus". Especially since it was never released in North America back in 2001 :-? .

That "mold" is an insult and should die in a fire.
Might as well just re-release FOC Metroplex.

Fortmax and his "brothers" deserves their own original mold that emulate the G1 original to a T.

TT did so in Japan twice, and it was quite popular actually. Honestly, as bad as people say T30 Metroplex is, I'd take a Metrotitan variant, even today.

sabre- doh... . I completely forgot about those... I'm very much looking forward to Tow-Line

It is non other than Shadowstriker from the Cyberverse series and it us our first look at the figure. It is unclear if they are going for a faithful or G1-ified take since the show itself was very G1 based but what is clear is that it is innacurate in terms of composition. The theme of Shadowstriker was that she was a Frankenstein's Monster type of design with her alt mode and robot made up of various parts put together which was highlighted by her limbs having a different deco. Here however, it's all the same indigo colour. And we know this is supposed to be her after she's been experimented on since her eyes are asymetrical.

It seems she can use various parts of her alt mode as weapons and shields, making her resemble the RID Autobot brothers. You'll let us know what you think.

On a different note, for those that have seen Arcane (best show I have ever seen), I think Vi and Bulkhead would be friends.

Not a fan of the car mode for the new Sideburn mold, but if they make it in the black and red universe deco I will buy 2 in a heartbeat. That was my first TF that I can remember. At 4-5 year old, it was a struggle messing with it lol. I think I still have half of him in a box somewhere.

Honestly could use more Decepticons in general as Autobot releases often outnumber them 3-1, and I've had to buy a few I normally wouldn't just to bolster the Decepticon ranks. Such as Speedia 500 Scourge, Datsun Barricade and Needlenose. I'm also seriously considering SG Slicer.

So it is disheartening when they finally do make a new one and it's not something like even like. lol

Do they? I've been collecting since Classics, but I'm only replacing toys that I have a problem with, filling some holes, and I'm actively getting less so I haven't noticed. But there's always been a lack of women, and a real lack of female cons so this is a missed opportunity. I hate it when they reuse recognizable molds as new characters; I just can't unsee this as Side Burn.

Food for thought: I wouldn't get toys I normally wouldn't. They're so pricy these days. Try local collectors. If all you're doing is rank filling then there are cheaper ways.

I got the Orion Pax and Alpha Trion set yesterday. This is the first time I've had any version of the Kup and Scourge moulds, Orion is just okay, nothing spectacular, but I've been having a lot of fun with Alpha Trion, I can definitely see why the Scourge mould is popular. The Vector Sigma accessory is a neat addition too.

If that's a Select, that will be good news because it will be easy to get.
Fingers crossed.

With those names they sound even more like Rock Lords! Bouldercrash is possibly Boulder and Magneous would be Magmar, the two Rock Lord leaders. Strange that one's a Core and ones a Deluxe.

TRA GEN LEGACY UNI DELUXE G1 OPTIMUS PRIME
Product Number: F9848

Can't imagine a Deluxe truck, maybe it's based on the Spychanger mold? That would give us a later RID R.E.V.

TRA GEN LEGACY UNI VOY CYBER VECTOR PRIME
Product Number: F8546

Neat. The original is still pretty good, but the new one will be in modern scale. Not very optimistic about them getting the paint details right.

TRA BB GEN LEGACY UNI VOY ORIGIN WHEELJACK
Product Number: F9688

This is for Buzzworthy Bumblebee, as Origins Bumblebee and Jazz were.

Yep, and probably a retool of Jazz, but we'll see.

TRA GEN LEGACY UNI ARMADA GALVATRON
Product Number: F8522

Really thought this was going to be a Selects release.
